Title: Wisdom Teeth Surgery Removal
Post by: Taylor95 on April 03, 2013, 04:49:42 pm
I just had my wisdom teeth taken out early monday morning and I feel great! I'm just really swollen...it feels weird for my cheeks and lips to be this big lol.  :P
I haven't been in any pain thank goodness, I just felt a few tingles today that didn't felt that great, but that's all. I'm also eating way better than I thought I would!
Have you had yours taken out? and how did you do with it?

Also..I got my Mom to video tape me afterward lol. I'll post the links to my videos if anyone is interested in seeing them! They're pretty funny!

I've had mine taken out about 20 years ago. The drugs are cool they give you for pain though.

I had mine taken out years ago.  All I got for pain was Tylenol.  Hope you feel better soon. Careful not to dribble on yourself.

I remember cutting my wisdom teeth.  The pain was excruciating.  I went to the dentist and he told me to brush my teeth extra hard in the back.  I did and got past the "wisdom teeth blues". :o ??? :o

I had mine pulled several years ago.  Only used over the counter drugs, the pain wasn't that bad.

I had my wisdom teeth removed a few years ago. I had all four removed at once and my face swelled up like a balloon. I had some pain, but the dentist gave me pain killers that helped me feel better.

I feel like they've come quite a ways since I got mine taken out. My ex-girlfriend had hers taken out not too long back, and she was back up and running the next day (or day after). I seem to remember being out of commission a couple of days back in my teens.

My 96 year old Mom is going to have 4 teeth out and 1 is a wisdom tooth.  The procedure is going to be as an outpatient in a hosp ital because of her health and age.  Her health is delicate and the oral surgeon would not do it in his office. I am afraid to see the bills from this one. She has no dental coverage.  :sad1:

i had mine out 15 years ago and was a worse case scenario.  Woke up in shock, lost blood clots, gauze packing problems.  A real nightmare when i was 14.  Glad it's over.

Yeah I had two of those removed a few years ago. They were coming in sort of sideways, so the dentist did it as soon as possible. Healed much quicker than I thought! Just don't drink through a straw for a while...it can give you an infection.

Actually mine were taken out when I was 18 and it Hurt like the dickens. One of them actually cracked during removal and had to dig the remainder out. The dentist had to give me additional pain Killers to finish the Job. I had four and they removed two at a time, one week apart.

I have had a number of surgeries but I didn't consider having my wisdom teeth taken out to be surgery.  I guess it is all how you look at it though.  I had mine taken out a number of years ago.  Sucked for a few days but all and all it wasn't too bad.

I had mine out many many years ago. They had to be surgically removed, not pulled, which required anesthesia. I dont remember much pain, just sort of grossed out in my mouth.

I had mine taken out about a month and a half ago. Everything went well. Right after I was bleeding a lot, and couldn't swallow my medicine. Afterwards I was sore and my gums hurt so bad I couldn't eat anything solid. The medications made me sleep a lot. Luckily they were strong so I didn't feel a lot of pain. I had a great oral surgeon and I plan on going back to him as my regular dentist because he is both. Anyway, I'm glad yours went well also. It can be a stressful, emotional, and scary experience.

A lady I know actually had hers taken out when she was 7 months pregnant! I don't think she was under completely, but all her doctors said it was fine!
That was about 20 years ago, so regulations might have changed.

I had mine taken out when I was 26, about 28 years ago.  I had them out two at two different times.  All I had was a heavy dose of Novocaine and a light dose of nitrous oxide.

I even heard the drilling and what sounded like a jack hammer.  Afterwards, during the recovery procedure, I had bone chips.  The reason was that my wisdom teeth were impacted at

at 45 degree angle - all four of them.  So, mine was a painful and unpleasant experience during and also the recover, but it was great once they were out.

Had my wisdom pulled out. They couldn't put me to sleep so I had to have laughing gas, numb my gums and started digging to get it out.

I'm terrified to get my wisdom teeth out I have had one that's been impacted for like 7 years and is the most painful thing ever, yawning is a challenge. However I'm too stubborn and scared to go to the dentist and isn't it expensive???

I have broken dozens of bones, dislocated fingers, had my knee ripped open to the tune of one hundred and seventy five stitches.  I have run over eighty five miles.  None of this compares to the pain I suffered in having my wisdom teeth pulled out.  I became conscious half way through the surgery to find my dentist sitting on my chest and chiseling away at one of my teeth.  I felt that pain for an entire week. If I had chosen to only have two extracted and come back to have the other two removed I would still have two wisdom teethin my mouth today-because I wouldn't have gone back!  Did you see the news last week about the dentist that regassed his patient during the procedure?  The patient ended up expiring three days later! No way!

I missed out on all that fun! My wisdom teeth never came in and the dentist says that I do not have any. Good thing since I am 58 now. I don't think I would get any wisdom from them anyway. My husband on the other hand had all 4 of his impact at the same time on a weeekend. He was in so much pain that he eventually bit down on the gums and was releived somewhat when all the gunk came out from the infection. Pretty nasty stuff. He was 21 at the time, and happpy to get to a dentist on Monday.
