Title: Talent
Post by: camellia0 on April 25, 2013, 04:03:26 am
A friend told me that I should have a side job, doing something that I enjoy to make extra money and in case I lost my job. I never really thought about this, but I like kids and was thinking of babysitting and dog walking. Any other suggestions?

I wish I had a talent to make some extra money.  I think if I applied myself and took on some more education I could build a talent.  I really need to think what I want to do though.

I think everyone has some kind of hidden talent. I know I do but I don't know about doing it to make money.

I've thought about getting back to offering ballroom dance lessons for some extra cash.  Found out from one of my trainers that there are a couple places that rent out space by the hour to independent contractors (like dance instructors, fitness instructors, etc) where they charge a small amount for the use of the room making it easy to have space to instruct.

We had to hire a dog sitter for this past weekend.  We have a 16 year old dog who is pretty much blind and deaf.  She broke her pelvis eight months ago and has slowly learned to walk again.  She is picky with her eating and has to be hand fed. It was a blessing for us to find a sitter whose talent is loving dogs. She came to our house and took care of "Bernadette" so that we could go our annual state ROA meeting. (Reserve Officers' Association) We can't leave this dog with just anybody.  We boarded her at a veterinary clinic once right after her accident, but they didn't give her the personal attention that she needs.  So finding our current sitter was a blessing.  This girl also does baby sitting and has several houses that she cleans. Good luck with your search in finding what's right for you!

yes having a side job is great but, whats even better is working for yourself,  you get to work when you want, how long you want, and where you want, thats me all the way self employed and i work for the city.

I have taking up the job of dog walking. I make 75$ a day 3 days a week. To walk a dog and feed him. I thought about it myself also and found out that taking care of others folks dogs is a benefit. They need help to if you have the time. :) :) :)

How did you find this job? Is it by word of mouth, or do they advertise? $75 for a day sounds good. I love dogs, and walking dogs sounds like fun.

I have been considering a secondary job, but the only time I could do this is during the weekend and I usually just use this to recover from the long hectic weekdays. I wish I had a "talent" to take advantage of, but I can't think of anything. I would get a secondary job, but I was thinking something simple.
