Had to live in a hotel for about a month while a house I was waiting to move into was being finished up on getting built.

I do not like the hotel life. Sometimes you do even get what you pay for. I do not like dirty pillows, blankets and carpets. You never know what you get when you check in.

we were stranded due to major flooding and could not get to our house...which would have been pointless anyway, as we later found out our house was totally flooded as well....so we had to stay several days in a hotel..no kitchen SUcks...

When I was moving, I had to live in a motel for 1 week. I hated it.. The cost, not having hot food, eating out. Yeah I hated it.

I had to early in life when we were just starting out. It was not the most ideal situation, of course not. We had to be resourceful, like getting a hot plate to cook since our money was really scarce and almost non existent. We had to do or die. I'll say one thing: it beat being homeless!

As a matter of fact I always tell my grown children, that if it really came down to it...opt for a motel on a daily bases until they can catch themselves. You can really hustle a days stay at a motel.

I had to stay in motels for awhile since I was traveling far for work.  I did not much like it when I had to stay in the cheaper dirty motels.. I only liked when the place had a nice pool that my son could swim in.

I live in hotels about 3-4 days of the week for my job.  Some hotels I like better than others.

True, it is cheaper than hotel. It is ok if you live there temporary but not permanent.

We had to stay at a motel for a week,  before we moved to our current residence, because our apartment was  not ready to move-in yet.

we did it for about 2 months when our kids were really young, luckily we didn't have to do it for long term.

I've never had to do that, but my boyfriend has to travel for work occasionally and has shared a room with a couple guys before.  I would have a hard time with that--you would never have any privacy!

We had to do the same thing. With 3 kids it was not fun.

My husband did it for a while... Has its perks- someone cleaning up after you, but you have  to eat out every day and gets very expensive!!!

My husband did it for his job, about 3 to 5 days/nights a month.  I don't think he minded it, he had an expense account, stayed in nice hotels, ate good food.  I don't mind a vacation, but I would not want to live in one for any length of time.

Longest I have stayed in a motel was for a weeks vacation. I couldn't live in one. Loud neighbors who are constantly changing daily, lack of parking during summer, maintenance is slow to get something fixed, and who knows that happened in that bed before you got there....

I think it depends on the motel.  Unfortunately, the roach motels are the least expensive.

I lived in one for 3 months once.  It was a very old motel - so worse than many of them, but it did have a stove and a sink in the kitchen, so I didn't have the problem of always having to eat out.

     I have had to stay for extended periods several times.  As long as I know it is temporary it's an adventure.  I always make sure I have at least a mini kitchen  wherever I stay.  A microwave and a small fridge plus coffee pot.  My son plays major league baseball, and sometimes we go and just follow the team for a couple of weeks, we did that when he played minor ball too!  We cannot afford where they put up the major league players.    All of my kids love to travel, people are always calling us the gypsy family.    But after travels it is always nice to go home to regroup!   :fish:

While working in a different state, I stayed in a hotel during the week returning home on the weekend - the worse six months of my life.

I stayed in one motel for two weeks with teenage sons. didn't mind it. The boys were swimming every day but had to do it early part of the day. Another family also was living there and while ubbies were out at the base we tooled all over that town and had a ball. I read the map and she drove Then in the evenings the kids all went swimming while a bunch of us visited. But on the other hand had to stay in a dump  for 3 days while the moving company tried to figure out where all of my belongings were and get them delivered Needless to say they had to pay for all my extra expenses. Because everything was to be there when i arrived. What a joke.

I actually really liked hotels, until I had to stay in one for more than a few days. I was on a road trip, and eventually it got boring. I loved sleeping back on my own bed. I probably wouldn't like motels very much.  :-

I did stay in a motel when I was younger, because our apartment needed repairs.   We had to stay there for three weeks.   To me it was a nice vacation, but to my mother it was the worse time of her life.
