I recently started using an electronic cigarette to cut down on the real ones. It's been working pretty well, I've gone from about 2 packs a day to less than half a pack a day. I know it's kind of like trading a crutch for a cane, but at least it's a start. It's also a lot cheaper.
-
Im glade its going well for you(my husband wants to try those)
-
I've seen the advertisements, what exactly is an electronic cigarette. Does it still have nicotin?
-
I tried one of those for a while. It helped cut back, but I never bought the refill.

Good for you keep up the good work...my husband did very well with the electronic cig, nothing wrong with a little vice ;)

There are several different types. I'm using the kind that you can refill. Basically it's an atomizer attached to a rechargeable battery. the battery heats the elements in the atomizer and creates a vapor from the liquid. You can get the liquid with different strengths of nicotine.
-
How it's? I want to buy for my dad but don't know how it work?
-
I've seen ads for E-cigs on some of the PTC sites I participate in. I often wondered if they actually worked/helped or not. Thanks for the info.
-
I have tried the electronic cigarettes. I suppose I didn't get a strong enough concentration of nicotine because I started craving the real cigarettes. The electronic ones are great though. You do save a lot of money with them and you don't smell bad. Plus you can smoke them anywhere because they are not real cigarettes. Blu cigarettes has a website where you can sign up and get reward points so you can get a discount or free items. It's a good thing to look into!

Just a little update. It's been almost two weeks since I started this thread and things are going pretty well. I was holding steady at about half a pack of real cigs a day But I have only had three today and it's almost bedtime now so I don't think i'll smoke another one tonight. Thank you all for your interest and support. :D
-
Well done! From 2 packs a day to only 3 cigarettes!!!! I'm also on the electronic cigs and it's okay, but I don't really like the taste. It did make me cut back, so I suppose it is worth it. I used to smoke about 15 cigs a day and am now down to 5.

I'm trying to get my husband to try these,
-
Congratulations. Keep up the good work. You can beat this. :star:

Study Finds 74% of Smokers Quit with Ecigs AND that E-Cigarettes are Less Addictive than Tobacco Cigarettes...
-
Congratulations! I had very good success with the ecigs. Sadly I have a :BangHead: feeling about myself, because when we moved last time I was out of refills, so I started buying regular cigarettes again. Just like that, I was hooked again.
But, this month my husband and I are going to start using the ecigs again.
-
I agree and people can actually stand to be around those better than a real sig. I don't smoke but my step daughter uses one of those and it doesn't bother me. Good luck with it all!
-
They are some nice contraptions those e-cigs.
-
good going, it really is going to help your health and future, also I like the way that electronic cigarettes look
-
I first tried the e cig because I was tired of having to go out in the winter weather to smoke at work! That was Feb. 2012! I have never touched another cigarette since! I just found I prefer it!
-
I don't smoke cigarettes. I think it's a disgusting habit and all the ads they show about smoking cigarettes make them even less appealing to me.
-
My Breother In Law uses Electronic cigarettes!! he has used it for over 2 years and has not had a real cigarette ever since then
-
I haven't smoked a real cigarette since November using an ecig. I use the Nic Maxx. I have tried the Vcigs but can't find a flavor I like from them. They are cheaper if you buy online from them in bulk though.
-
hummm may have to give it a try,,id like to quit myself :cat:
-
I think that's great. It is a great start and you are def in the right direction. At least this crutch in not bad for your health.
Keep it up. Keep moving more toward the electronic and less with the real ones. Best of luck! :star:

Very good job. Smoking is so hard to give up . I have seen many struggle. My son did the eletronic cigarettes also he did very well. Keep up the great job. Stay strong.
-
I'm not a smoker so I don't really understand the electronic cigarettes. Isn't it the same thing? Same soup but different bowl?
-
This is something that I am willing to try because I know that I have to stop smoking. I am willing to give anything a try.
-
Good for you ... I have been using an electronic cigarette for over a year and I love it.
After the 4th month of using it ... I was down to smoking only 2-3 real cigarettes a week.
Since January 2013 ... I have not had any real cigarettes and have no desire to have one.
My theory is that I didn't quit smoking ... I quit tobacco
Best of luck

Bravo to you!!!! Keep up the good work and you will reap the rewards!!!!! I know how hard it is to quit (I had to do it 4x before it worked) but at least you're still with it. Don't give up!!!!
-
I heard they don't allow smoking them in public either.
-
The big deal is the elimination of the tars and noxious gases that ruin your lungs and cause more medical problems than can be counted! You get a shot of nicotine, which by the research I can find is really not harmful but is still likely the most addictive substance known.
Everthing I see seems to indicate that these are a great subsitute for smokers as they do help one get rid of the toxic aspects of smoking on a personal level, and keep the nastiness out of other peoples lives as well.
I have no idea if they are cost effective in their use compared to the cost of cigarettes, I cant imagine them being more expensive!
I applaud those that have been using these and hope that they help you get rid of the habit completely. Even if you keep using them, thanks for not smoking!!
;D

I have an electronic cigarette in front of me, which I confiscated from my son and girlfriend, and am reading it where it says it is equal to about 2 packs of cigarettes. It also has 1.8% nicotine which it states is very addictive and habit forming. I don't think this brand (OneJoy) is recommended for quitting smoking, because of the nicotine. The ones with vapor are the ones to help quit smoking. I wonder how destructive these cigarettes are to our bodiesl
-
I have tried all different ones out there but I still smoke cigarettes, but I have never gone over a pk a day been smoking for 30 yrs. now or more but the last electronic cig. was the blu and that seems to last the longest out of all that I tried and I enjoyed that one but I need something else to make me quit smoking the real cigarettes. I need to get hypnotized I hear that works.
-
I never got around to trying electronic cigarettes even though I really wanted to. I've been able to stop smoking for about 8 months now and it had alot to do with not putting myself in situations where I was likely to smoke. Basically became a recluse for a little while but it helped in the long run. I have one maybe once every couple months and the desire has never came back after.
-
I quit for 4 months the last time i switched to ECigs then lost it and instantly bought a pack. My favorite kind is the Volcano Inferno E-cig. A months worth of nicotine is around $7-15. Your nicotine in the ecig will last 1-3days and the batteries last way longer than other brands.
-
ya there's all kind of those out there!
-
I seen a big boom in electronic cigarettes... I hope it limits the amount of damage it does to the luings and also second hand smoke
-
I've heard that the liquid in the ecigs is the same stuff that they use in breathing treatments, except for the nicotine and flavoring. I don't know if that's true or not. The ingredients are polypropylene glycol, vegetable glycol, water, flavoring and nicotine.I just read that from the bottle.
-
My aunt quick smoking and tried the electric smokes. She just uses will power. She has not smoked for five months. The only problem is she has gained a lot of weight.
-
I'm smoking one rite now.... So far its not working for me since i rather just go outside and smoke a real cig..... ehhh I mean its not bad.... its OK. but I can taste the plastic a little bit when i smoke it. I do like how it lights up (I got the BLU, its kinda pretty, when u inhale it the tip lights up blue) and its doesn't burn or get hot so it's a lot safer. I was told i need to try diff flavors. we shall see....

if all else fails.... hypnosis works!!!
-
Hypnosis did work for me for 5 years but then I started smoking again. I later tried several hypnotists and it didn't work again. I'm 5 months smoke free with the ecig.
-
I've been on the e-cig for about a month now and I'm holding steady at 3 to five real cigarettes a day. The hardest ones to let go of are the ones I crave first thing in the morning and after meals. I think if I can get over those humps I'll have it whipped. Then I can start cutting back on the strength of the nicotine in the e-liquid i'm using. Thank you all again for your thoughts and encouragement.
-
I too have had a lot of good success with the ecig. I haven't smoked a real cigarette since November
-
Good luck!
-
Glad to know that electronic cigarettes will curve my appetite for the real ones, I just have to make an effort to stop.
-
This is good to know. I will give these as a gift to anyone I know that is trying to quit!
-
I have recently tried the electronic cigarette and I have to tell everyone who do smoke cigarettes that there is nothing like the real thing. I do not want to discourage anyone who is trying to quit, but the electronic cigarette do not do it for me.
-
I have often wondered if people successfully quit smoking using these.....seems like the nicotine thing would still keep you going back to the real ones but it is wonderful that it is working for you. Keep up the good work!
-
My son bought one and gave it to me! It seems to work for me when I get the urge and it takes the urge away after a few draws on it. The good thing about them they don't have any tar or nicotine.
-
The problem I have with the e-cigarettes is that they are too heavy to hold. If they were lighter I think I would really like them.

I think they are a great way to deter smoking real ones'

Electronic cigarettes are great. I dont smoke but maybe a few times a month, but I tried my friends and it is pretty awesome. Can smoke inside with them
-
we should see if FC can get a Ecig offer together for us!! :)
-
Do they contain nicotine? If not, and it's the kind that's only vapor, it's a lot better for you than the traditional kind.

.You can get them with or without nicotine. I use the liquid with nicotine.
-
thats good its a great way to cut down as well as helping your health
-
Congrats on the cutting down. I know thats hard to do. I've thought about trying on of them. Just haven't made the actual purchase yet.

Can I ask what brand you are using and how much do they cost. Do you get 1 or a pack and where do you get them? TY

I was wondering if they are smokeless and if they directly affect other people like regular cigs do. Do they last a long time without breaking down? I bet they are helpful in or near work campuses that do not allow smoking.

Not sure what pries are where you live, but the last 4 months of my wife`s life we spent an average of $600 a month on the cheapest ones we could find which is over twice as much as we were spending on regular cigarettes before

I've been thinking about trying those electronic cigarettes. My son does and he went yo one a day. I don't think stop without some sort of help
-
My husband and I bought the disposable e cigarettes to try them out. We bought a cheap one at first just to kind of get an idea about them and my husband hated it, said it made his throat hurt. So I got the Blu disposables which were alot better. We have cut down some but not as much as I hoped. I just need to stick with it and hopefully eventually be done with cigs for good.
-
I tried it but it didn't work for me.
-
One of my co-workers started using one of them and she said that she can taste a bit of a difference if it's a menthol cigarette, but there isn't much difference with a normal one. I figure whatever helps people quit or helps them be healthier is a step in the right direction.
-
I tried it because I got tired of having to go outside to smoke! I haven't had a real cig since! That was 2/9/2012!
-
does it really work that good i smoke about 2pks of marlboro reds everyday and would like to try & quit
-
thats really great news, keep it up if its really helping you don't stop until you know you don't need them anymore. i will let my sister know that they work and she should try it. thanks God Bless you.
