As part of my journey for a healthy lifestyle I research natural products to help enhance/prolong my health. I turn 31 Saturday and this type of stuff is important to me now lol I've been hearing about the benefits of apple cider vinegar and googled it and saw a host of benefits but I wanted to know if anyone here has a regimen that includes ACV and if so, how much do you take and what changes have you noticed and in what time frame? Thanks!

Apple cider vinegar is good for aches. when my back is killing me I use it to help relive the pain
-
Apple cider vinegar is good for a lot of things. I have used it on food, and found out that it reduced my having chances to have high blood pressure. I used to drink it in water; it reduced my appetite. I need to read up on that again. Thanks for bringing up the subject.
-
it is good for you but i cant seem to find any just red and other flavers
-
If you have Dollar Tree stores in your area they sell apple cider vinegar weight loss pills 30 for a dollar, you take one with each meal. I've heard taking a shots worth each meal mixed in with honey is supposed to be good for the heart and flusing out fat, so the pills are an easier route. Gioves me hearburn though if I take 3 of the pills in a day.
-
cberman That's a benefit I hadn't seen that I definitely need
msmoneybags I took my first shot tonight and I notice I don't have the night time munchies
mstevenson2 i have great value but I know I need an organic
adg35 I love Dollar Tree lol I'll try the pills if I can't continue to stomach the ACV, thanks!
-
It works great on my sinuses. It helps break down all that excess mucus you may have. And occasionally I use it in my hair as a rinse. Helps tame the frizzies and with dandruff.
-
It also brings out red higlights in your hair if used as a rinse after conditioner. :cat:
-
I have a problem with acidic foods and so I tend to avoid them. I have found that they cause a variety of issues depending upon which ones I ingest.
-
luvh8tragedy87 and cgilliand09 I've heard of it being used as a conditioner, I used it myself last month to get rid of dandruff.
rricardi58 ACV is highly acidic.
-
I have several good recipes that I use apple cider vinegar.
-
i use it to get rid of the flies in my house. flies ca not resist the aroma.
-
no question about it!
I dilute it so it isn't "too sharp".
I use it as an antiseptic, a deodorant (I don't want to put any chemicals on my skin/ in my body), skin rashes heal up, when you drink it a couple hours before bedtime, it helps you sleep well.....I have done all this + drinking it diluted, of course, is beneficial because it is anti fungal.
-
It draws and kills fruit flys (they drown in the stuff), so if you happen to get overrun with a swarm of killer fruit flys you will have a counter insurgent chemical weapon on hand as well! ;D
-
Never try but I hope it is taste good :-[
-
gaylasue like what?
masked_brown_guy and jmccaskill another benefit I didn't read about lol
linanita I had it last night and it doesn't taste good but it doesn't taste as bad as I thought. I use to put lemon juice in all my drinks as a daily detox so maybe I prepared myself by doing that but it definitely leaves a blah taste
-
i use apple cider vinegar, honey and apple juice for my migraines...i mix 1/4 cup of the vinegar and honey to a 48 oz jug of juice.i drink a shot glass full daily..took a month or so to really tell a difference, but the headaches got less and less.i also noticed that while i was taking my sickness had been down..i forgot to make up a batch and thought well im not having headaches so i will just wait..well my migraines came back and i stayed sick all the time.so i am back on the acv, honey and juicce..i use braggs acv with the mother in it and local honey..the juice is really your preference, but i like the taste of the apple.i use sugar free on the juice as you are already adding honey to it..
-
I have used Apple Cider Vinegar on some skin rashes and cuts in the past and it seems to work well.
-
If you have gout like me that's one of my remedies for avoiding high uric acid . I have to tell you drinking 2 cups of that stuff a day was a punishment. It just tastes nasty but very rewarding. Don't drink SODA( any kind) if you have gout. I prefer WATER. Apple cider vinegar is my best friend. But today, I don't drink it anymore because my medication seems to be working pretty fine. 1love!!!
-
I used to drink a little bit of apple cider vinegar every night before going to bed. It has the same cleansing effect as lemon
juice. I stopped doing that when I realized that it's one of the "foods" that doesn't jive with my blood type.
Now, I use it occasionally in home made salad dressings; however, I don't go crazy with it anymore. I'm finding that moderation is the key.
-
Guess I will pour some on my scalp to help with the dandruff...I wonder will ACV help with the itching I'm having right now, I guess it's from the pollen.....
-
I try to drink some every day, just because it is good for you and if it can help me to lose some weight I need to drink a little more.
-
I love apple cider vinegar mixed with olive oil and sweetened with honey or stevia. It makes an awesome salad dressing!

Put it on a spinach salad lol ! I do hahaha !

bretay as a former fellow migraine sufferer myself this makes me interested even more. I read that this was one of the benefits, but it makes me feel better to hear it from a person.
rusgift wow, gotta try this
pmagalei I'm confused because I was under the understanding that ACV itself was very acidic and therefore should be used sparingly and I agree about water, it's the best! lol
sherryinutah I used to do lemon juice too, I think it prepared me for ACV because when I started using it (the same day I posted this thread) it wasn't as bad as I'd anticipated
mill827 pollen is HORRIBLE this time of year. It's worth a try.
ghunter That's how I feel, if it's good for me I'll try it
samrhett2 I've heard of many people mixing it with honey, gotta try that
Cuppycake (I like that username BTW lol) I'll try that with my next Subway salad or sub, which I'd just decided to start substituting spinach leaves for lettuce.
-
ive heard its good for lots of things,,,good luck! :icon_rr:
-
it has plenty of good uses, i honestly have rarely utilized it outside of cooking though :angry7:
-
I Have used it at different times in my live for different things, I had forgot all the good things it does. The girls I work with used it for high blood pressure. They just mixed it with a dap of water and drink it and felt better, I think I have apple juice in the back of the house I will try that mixture.
-
ljrjess29 Thanks! I love a multipurpose product, especially one for various health benefits
mjoseph I was looking for it for dietary needs but I have used it as dandruff control before. Using it for cleaning and keeping the flies away is new to me
-
I've read that it controls high blood pressure too, the benefits definitely outweigh that of a lemon juice ritual. I had it with juice, it makes it taste SO much better, a lot of people use honey too.

I had read on a message board that women who had fibroids took two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, a tablespoon of molasses and a cup of warm water (I think a larger cup is better though) mixed together to help with the pain and bleeding. They said this natural remedy taken daily gave them good results with their symptoms and some even noticed that the fibroids weren't as large if I remember correctly. It was a good natural remedy for women who had problems and couldn't get surgery or needed help with their symptoms.
Let me know if this helps.
-
I've also read about it being a miracle remedy to remove stones and fibroids. I fortunately haven't had these problems and wanted to use it more so to preserve my health and prevent illness.
UPDATE: I find that I actually like the taste of ACV mixed in my crystal light drinks...... weird, I know lol I only add about 1/2 to 3/4 of a teaspoons, so it's not much. I've lost about 4 lbs since starting it and I haven't had any breakouts since starting.

I use it in several recipes and do remember it was somehow used in weight loss programs. (several years ago) ??? There are some great suggestions here from you all and I may try some. Thanks for a useful post.

I love natural remedies. In high school I drank ACV in water as part of diet plan. Dr Oz was just talking about it recently, on multiple shows this year. He was sharing it's benefits before meals and at bedtime to lower blood sugar. In fact two tablespoons of any pickled food, at the start of your meal, will help, but ACV is the best. He also taught me to use it for the dermatitis I've had on my scalp. I use a 50% solution and massage it into my scalp. It works best when left on for about fifteen minutes before you shampoo. It's good stuff.
-
i have heard it helps to loose weight
-
I didn't know it was quite so beneficial for your health. Thanks for bringing up this topic.
-
Try a couple of tablespoons in a glass of water. Add sweetener if you prefer. Be sure and note if it burns while ingesting; if so, reduce the amount of vinegar until you reach your comfort level.
-
ghunter I read about this being one of the many benefits, I love all the different advantages of taking it.
alice44 I've lost 4 lbs in the short time I've been taking it. I had a generic Great Value brand but after doing some research I got some Heinz unfiltered with Mothers ACV from walmart.
bretay Those migraines are horrible aren't they? I'd already noticed a huge decrease in the amount of migraines I have when I decided to cut back on the sugar but it's definitely possible the ACV has been helping too, glad you found a remedy :)
-
CharmedPhoenix I used it to get rid of flakes once, I think I need to keep doing that to keep them away
kountrypeach80 From my experience it does help
Lenora You're welcome, thanks for commenting!
bheitt I usually put 1/2- 3/4 teaspoon inside a bottle of crystal light
-
I also use apple cider vinegar for killing fruit flies and getting rid of the flying insects around your house. It works great!
-
I have heard this also is good for weight loss.

Yup, I agree apple cider vinegar is good for many things!!! I recently had to use it as a "medicine" if you will. Did you know that if you ever get a "plantar wart" on your foot you can cure it with apple cider vinegar??? The answer, YES YOU CAN!!!!! I also like to take a tablespoon in a cup of water and drink it. It helps keep your blood pressure under control.
-
It helps to regulate the ph levels in your body too. Studies have shown that cancer grows in bodies that are too acidic.
-
I take it almost daily. It's good for many things. Make sure to get organic if you can.
-
How much should you take per day?
-
Apple cider vinegar is good for many things. Besides all the uses mentioned by others, it is good, if it is added to your food, to burn fat, lower cholesterol, lose weight, better digestion and better overall health for some. Add it to your cooking or spray it on top of your veggies.

I have heartburn issues to so I would be nervous about that 3. Did u cut down to two tabs with honey or one tab.

thanks for the information

I use to drink ACV but had gotten away from it. I still have some left, so I think I will start using it again.
-
i havent yey but want to
-
Lucky I was informed of this use of ACV by a few FC members here, I'll have to try that this summer!
nannycoe1 That was my primary reason for starting it. I put less than a teaspoon in 2 cup drink per day. Some people use it more but I use it sparingly since it's so acidic. I don't even mind the taste...go figure. I need to do some research to see if I'm using enough but I've lost 4 pounds and have experienced no breakouts since starting this thread.
6265AT99 Now this is a new use for it for me, I'd never heard of that one. This is why it was so important for me to seek people who already have experience with ACV
-
tannissmith I read that too and was a alarmed b/c ACV is very acidic so I wondered if ACV in return increases or decreases risk of cancer when used over a prolonged time frame?
melissajh44 is organic the same as unfiltered?
ancmetro that's a good suggestion!
-
melodylogan45 I think the liquid is more potent so until I have problems with the ACV I'll hold off on the pills but will keep them in mind as an alternative. If I do take them I'll probably take 2 as you suggested, but I think the pills are for people who (understandably) can't stomach the liquid and I fortunately can tolerate it..... I kinda even like it mixed in with my flavored drinks- I know, I'm weird lol
rusgiftsaolcom let us know how that goes
mstevenson2 stop procrastinating! lol jk
