Title: Do you barter for goods?
Post by: lutznellie on May 20, 2013, 03:42:15 am
I would love to have a community where we could barter for goods.  Back in the day I used to do hair and would barter hair services for things like eggs, ham, furniture, etc.  It's so hard finding people that will do the same in return though.  I've tried a couple of websites but I can't find anything local.

I have heard in the days gone by, they did bartering.  You don't hear much about it in this day and time.  You could put ad in paper or do it work of mouth and see how it comes out.  It would be a good idea if everyone did it now they way things have cost so much.

I wish bartering was more popular. The best thing that's related in my area is Craigslist and the ad bulletin.

We've done a little. Sometimes it is hard to find someone who wants your stuff and you want their stuff.  :dontknow:

They had a thing on the news a couple months ago about more people bargaining again.  Maybe you will find some luck.

I think there's a bartering club in my area, but I've never participated. I might look them up and give them a try.

I think bartering is a wonderful concept but would take a lot of research to find matches for services or products to trade when there is no club in your area.  I remember reading somewhere (years ago) that bartered products are taxable, although I don't know how the taxes would be computed accurately.

I did some bartering, but nothing consistent.  I built and maintained a website for my chiropractor for a while for half off his services.  I've also exchanged ballroom dance lessons for massages and other such service exchanges.

If prices for things continue to increase, I have a feeling more people will go back to the "old fashioned" way of cooking/baking and we'll probably see more barter services popping up.  I'll be farmer's markets will start booming as well.

Yes, my brother and I would love to do the same because neither one of us is able to find work.  we tried through ads but i guess no one in this area is into it.

I think it's just easier for people to pay in cash, especially in this day and age. But I like the idea of bartering too.

I don't but would not mind doing it at all.  I think there's a barter on Craigslist but I usually forget to check it.
The times I have I didn't have anything that anyone wanted, lol.  I think its a great idea...concept.

I don't think I would be very good at it but I expect it will be getting more popular with the economy the way it is.
