Some of you already know to shop here for groceries but 'til now I've only gone to the 99 cent store for other things.
Yesterday I stopped by their produce department that has recently expanded a LOT.
I bought a bag of beautiful red, yellow and orange peppers for 99 cents, a good size bag of yellow onions for 99 cents and 3 bottles of Mrs. Dash Marinade for 99 cents each. This is the same stuff that I paid 2.79 for at Von's on sale!
I was delighted! Right now I'm not contributing very much $ to our household and art supplies are expensive so wow it's great to be able to save AND to make some $ here.
btw, I used the peppers for dinner last night and they were delicious!

That sounds great but my dollar store doesn't carry produce. It does carry some packaged foods and I frequently do buy those.

I don't think our nearest 99 cent store carries produce but I haven't been there for a long time. I may have to check it out.

re the 99 cent store. It's the same thing as the Dollar Store - just a different company. We have several of them here in Southern California. We have Dollar Tree as well but the 99 cent store is the one with the expanded grocery section and great produce.

We have the Dollar General and Dollar Tree here in Ohio. I got some free stuff from both yesterday using coupons. I love walking out with free stuff!!!

We don't have a 99 cent dollar here, but we do have a distributon plant now and on Sat. the have a farmers market. I bought lettuce at .40 a head, 2 kinds, cauliflower at $.50 a head potatoes $1.40 for 10lbs. The list goes on I filled a laundry basket as full as we could and half a produce box full and paid $17.50 for it. That is enough for us and my dad. Still have some left over. All of it was much better quailty then our grocer store.

my dollar tree doesn't have a produce section I would be super excited if they did they do have a frozen food section coupons are a great savings there :)

I know what you talking about, I go to 99c store myself a lot for produce, cleaning supplies and hygiene supplies, I save a lot and the products are very good

There isn't produce at my local dollar stores. I usually just buy all my groceries at Winco. We have been pretty good at staying under budget with making sure we go biweekly rather than every week for groceries. A bit less temptation in going less often.

You can find coupons that can be used in the Dollar Tree on Hunt4Freebies. :fish:
