Title: Make up
Post by: levettepough on June 24, 2013, 11:01:53 pm
Do you think that makeup really makes a woman look better or do you think that they use it for a coverup?

Personally speaking I have never really worn much makeup. Everyone kept telling me I was pretty without it. I would do it when I went out but in high school I didn't really wear any, just a little gloss on the lips. My 18 year old is the same way. All of her friends at school wear it and sometimes go overboard and make themselves look like clowns, while she is just wearing gloss and maybe eye liner.

I think it could be for both. I wear it to feel prettier but I also wear it to cover blemishes or acne.

I have never worn much make up but in some cases I think it can accentuate what you already have while many try to use it to cover up everything. I prefer it as an accentuation as an adult although when I was younger I used to use foundation to cover my cheeks because I would get embarrassed easily and my cheeks would become bright red at the drop of a hat it made it almost impossible for me to speak up in class or give a speech until I started using make up and I had more confidence.

It depends. If you wear flattering make up and don't overdo it then yes it does enhance a women's looks. But it can't totally transform you it really enhances. I normally don't wear makeup but when I do I only wear eye shadow, lip gloss and eye liner. I don't need cover up or foundation so I never wear it.

I feel like it does both.  I usually don't wear makeup, but it's nice to use to cover up my occasional blemish or when I want to feel more dressed up.

I believe that everyone has there own saying in make up. If a woman wants to wear make up then that is her choice but make up has nothing to do with a person's look.

Makeup and cosmetics do not have to hide beauty or "coverup". Sometimes you can use makeup to ENHANCE beauty. I wear make up and I have an incredibly high self-esteem because I know that I always look good and I look how I want to look. Some people do not need pounds of makeup to look pretty. Simply some blush and mascara will do. Others need more to hide scars or acne or simply because they aren't confident without it. And there is nothing wrong with that. :)

I think makeup is pretty superficial and unnecessary. Most women look perfectly fine without it. Guys don't paint their faces, so why should women? I always notice when a heavily makeup-ed woman is standing next to a fresh faced man.

Sometimes. Personally I don't care for it. Even though my skin isn't perfect I like how I look without it. Plus it just so messy and makes my skin itchy.

Light makeup makes some women look better. Most that use it are covering stuff up though.

I only just lately came to the realization that make-up is another one of those things that the media makes you think you need. Big corporations getting HUGE profits from women trying to look good to each other, and especially to men.  :bs:

I've been totally snowed for many, many years to the point that I never would go outside without putting on make-up. How ludicrous! I'm a little bit

better now, but still wear it. I envy those who are self-confident enough to not use it at all.  :notworthy:

It's probably WAY better for your skin not to use it. There are lots of chemicals in make-up that are known carcinogens.  :sad1:

BTW, most women never realize how really beautiful they are, with or without make-up.

I also am in the category that does not spend money on makeup.  Natural is the way to go for me.  I am the way God made me and makeup doesn't change that.

It depends on how they use it....thick, heavy make up is gross to me! Foundation that is flaky or thick and fake~GROSS!  I like a more natural look and a little to enhance is so lovely!

I think a lot of women look beautiful without any makeup.

Interesting question - I wonder if the op is a man? ::)

Anyhow, I say both. I was a make-up freak when I was younger because I wanted to enhance my natural beauty i.e. cover up the imperfections. Nowadays, I'm make up free most days unless I'm going out somewhere special. My skin looks healthy and clear and I can work on improving my skin instead of relying on makeup to just cover the imperfections. Just my take on it all.

I hardly wear makeup anymore. In high school I wore a concealer because I easily got embarrassed and my cheeks would turn bright red. The make up helped me feel like I wasn't so easy to read all the time. I think it can be used for either purpose.

I think make up can be a confidence-builder, especially for women/girls with compromised self-images (which most people experience at some point in their lives).  A person just naturally feels better about herself when she looks her best (or thinks she looks her best).  For some it may mean no cosmetics while for others it may be the other end of the spectrum.  Personally, I think magazine ads push overkill on the make-up and a lot of females buy into whatever the current look is touted as being "in."  But the bottom line is, there are enough things out there to crush a person's spirit and as far as make up is concerned women should do whatever helps them feel good about themselves.

Makeup makes a huge difference in the way I look.  I don't overdo it but my face looks "weak" without it, for lack of a better term.

I always thought make-up was to enhance a woman's beauty and when that is the goal yes I think it can look nice. Now when women try to transform themselves into a completely different person they usually end up looking worse.

Honestly I prefer the natural look.

it can be worn for different as a skin dermatology make up is the most healthier way to use it properly worn or it can become problem never put makeup on with your hands your hands have oil on them cause acne use brushes for intance put little foundation on back of your hand put brush in and apply and blend to even tone same goes for rest of your makeup except for eye shadow mascara ;)

I wear it to enhance my looks, but not every day and when I do I think less is best I try and keep it as close to my natural look and not over do it.

I think is used for both. Females would use it to enhance their appearance or to cover acne and other imperfections. I think light make up is the way to go though. Caking the face is to dramatic unless there is a show going on. Love your skin.

it really depends.. as a girl my self sometimes it makes not much of a difference or makes them look worse and other times it makes a dramatic impact on how they look.

Personally, I think women wear make up as a coverup. On the other hand some I think use it because they think it makes them prettier. However, Beauty comes from the inside and it will shine through on the outside.
