Title: friends from the past

some friends keep in touch.
some friends leave the past behind.

There are times friends keep in touch and become closer with you, and then there are friends who leave the past behind because seeing you reminds them of a moment they would rather forget. :o :thumbsup: :wave:

Life is so busy today that I think it is harder to keep in touch unless you still share a common link or one of you makes thew effort to keep in touch in some way.

I am very lucky to say that I have many friends from elementary school!!! We get together at least once a quarter- it's a ton of fun and I am so lucky for old friends!!!

Most of my friends are old friends....since high school and college.

I had a few very close friends that I lost touch with over the years because of working.

I had a very, very close friend for over 47 years.  We were more like sisters even married brothers then divorced them both, but she got miffed over something trivial and we didn't talk for 5 years. She got sick and I didn't know how to handle it. She died 4 years ago and I think about her every day and wish I had known how to handle her illness. Her husband told me 2 years later that in her last few months, she never thought he would be the one taking care of her, insinuating it should have been me. (She was in a car accident years before and I practically lived with her while she learned to walk again and took care of her every need.)

On a brighter note, because of Facebook, I hooked up with a couple high school friends that I wasn't real close with, but it's nice to chat with them.

The moral to the story is: Don't let small incidents get in the way of a strong friendship. You will never get over the guilt.

   All my friends are gone. They belong to the past...but I have pleasant memories of our times together.
