Before i download the search bar im curious about if you get 5cents for 5 searches or is it 1cent for every two searches and are there any rules on what to search?? ???

I've uninstalled my toolbar as they're a lot of work for me, but search credit is randomized meaning you might get a credit or not after a search depending on how the system thinks your searches are legitimate. I wouldn't be surprised they credit when you do use specific key words in their favor.

You receive 1 cent for every 4 searches with a maximum of 5 cents for 20 searches per day.

When you install the toolbar, you also get this alert when you're on a site that FusionCash will pay you if you shop there. I've made a few bucks here and there on items that I was going to buy anyway. It's definitely worth the download.

I have such a hard time getting the searches to credit. I have 21 searches and only 5 cents earned. And they are all legitimate searches!

That's about the correct ratio. You get 1c per four accepted searches, up to 5c / 20 searches per day maximum.
There is indeed a filter in place (yahoo's own specifications) which will credit/not credit depending on your searching. As a rule of thumb, if you're searching to get money, it's going to stop crediting you. If you're searching as you normally would throughout the day -- using it as your primary search engine -- you are much more likely to get consistent credit. It may seem arbitrary but it is pretty good at sniffing out non-natural searching. There are a lot of members who use the toolbar searches all the time and get very consistent credit, and some that have endless trouble. The trouble ones are louder, naturally, but both sides exist.
Some tips--
1) Don't do many searches in a rapid-fire way. Spread them out.
2) Don't search for the same term more than once.
3) Don't search unless you're interested in, and plan to click on, the results.
4) Don't use word lists or secondary sources to "come up" with search terms. The filter knows about them.
5) Do simply use the toolbar to do your normal web searching.
