On Monday, I heard on the news about the 9 year-old boy who took a flight to Las Vegas without a ticket. On Wednesday, he boarded the subway to the airport, took someone's luggage, went to the restaurant and left the luggage and a bill. On Friday, he blended in with a family and boarded the plane and flew to Vegas, where someone noticed he was alone and called authorities. The airport official said that the boy "had a lot of explaining to do to them and his mom and dad." I am just wondering: Where were his parents and did they notice he was missing? Secondly, the school, I take it, did not notify his parents to their child being absent. Thirdly, what happened that Security did not notice that this child was in the airport, was scanned and cleared for flight to Vegas until he was busted in Vegas? It is obvious there is something wrong with this picture. What is your take on it? ??? ??? ??? :o :o :o

You're absolutely right! I heard on the news this morning that the boys parents (who were pleading for help for the young boy) believed that he was at a friends house. Also, this is not the first time he has had troubles. I worry that he will end up like Leonardo DiCaprio off 'Catch Me if you Can" or worse. Regarding security, I am totally shocked and horrified that someone, anyone, can adopt themselves to another family and make it look like they are in a group. It just shows how vigilant Security isn't! I hope the parents can get some help for the boy and also for themselves.

wow i didn't hear about that that is crazy how he did this and no one caught on

I heard about this story too and I also heard that his MOTHER is AN AIRLINE EMPLOYEE and may have possibly "helped" him get away with this!!! This of course, makes no sense to me as a Mother. I would never "help" my child pull off a stunt like that!!! She should be ashamed of herself and she should be the one to pay the penalty - not the child!!!

Where did he get a ticket....why would mom send him to Vegas....a whole lot of questions to be answered......

??? Yes I read this story and I am amazed. I guess it is just the era and world we live in now because when I was that age there is no way in heck I would have been brave enough to do anything like that.

Yeah, there's definitely something wrong there. In my opinion, the biggest being, if the almighty TSA didn't know he got past them, how will they EVER stop a TERRORIST? Your tax dollars at work (cough).

Wow, didn't hear about this one. If the kid did pull this off on his own, despite the obvious finger pointing throughout the chain to determine who should have caught this, I must take my hat off to the kid for being that clever to pull it off.
I'm sure somewhere in the depths of the CIA, there is a recruitment file opened on this kid...

I heard about that in the news and it looks like someone's not doing their job.

That child has a major problem. He stole a truck not too long ago. He has been in a lot of trouble. I can't even imagine a 9 year old doing those things.
-
Wait how the heck did he get through ? He got through security and even onto plane without a ticket? How is that possible? Crazy and scary to imagine

What I think is that airport security is still a joke even though it's been over decade since 911. On the flipside, there hasn't been anything like 911 in this country but I don't give 100% props to airport security, I think our gov't has gotten better at its intelligence and preventing problems.

Forget about blaming his teachers and parents... I can't even IMAGINE how he got passed security without being caught. What is security doing nowadays anyway? Are they even doing their job properly? I mean, I know they're working on improving, but this is still pretty ridiculous. They really need to pay more attention to who boards the plane.

hmmmmm/ Makes you wonder if this story is really true or not. maybe to make money? maybe to make the news? did this really happen? did the mother do this on purpose to make the news? Oh Boy!! Yes yes yes!! LOTS of questions!! I heard about stuff like this and it makes me wonder about why people do this stuff. ??? ::) :dontknow:

There are so many different stories swirling around about this incident. I saw tonight on Dr. Drew that the boy was supposed to be at home because he was suspended from school, so the school would have had no reason to call him. There is probably enough blame to go around here, but I think the blame begins with the parents. This boy is now out of control at 9 years old.

I just saw this on the news right now. This is crazy. Sounds like some "Home Alone" type of move.

With all of the heightened security measures in place now, I have a hard time seeing how this child could have made it all the way to the plane much less to Las Vegas without being stopped and questioned. There should be some security personnel out looking for jobs right now. Jihad is known to use children as suicide bombers.
