I heard on the news this morning that truckers are planning a big rally in Washington, D.C. this weekend. 3,000 truckers have RSVP'd for the event. They are suppose to shut down the major highways around D.C. this weekend as a protest to the political stalemate in D.C. that is crippling our nation.
-
Wow I have not heard about this!! Crazy!!
-
I didn't hear that! If it's true that really will be something, shutting down DC but I wonder what that will due for the crises we are facing? I wonder if congress cares one way or the other what the "little guy" thinks.
-
how can truckers shut down DC when the gov already did that already? truckers can stage a rally yes but they cant shut down a city thats already shut down
-
if they jam up all the roads around there, they can shut it down
-
power to the truckers!! i think they should clean out washington so we can start fresh with people who really care !! i think this shutdown is just crazy !! my opinion

Yup, they sure are and I hope they succeed in their mission! In case you haven't heard, our Veterans will also be doing something similar in Washington on the 13th of the month. It's called the "Million Vet March on the Memorials." They're livid because they are all being arrested or turned away from visiting the War Memorial sites of their fallen brothers and sisters. I heard that the truckers are hoping everyone gets involved and shuts/slows down all of the highways across the country
-
BRAVO TO OUR TRUCKERS!!!!! I say support them all the way!!! As a matter of fact, we should be handing out sandwiches and water bottles to them as they STAND UP FOR WE THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Just saw this on the news. All I can say is....WAY TO GO TRUCKERS!!!! What a great bunch of people they are!!!
-
It is about damn time people stand up to idiots on the hill.

Because blocking roads that your average citizen use is such great service to the country?
-
Super idea and a great way to peacefully demonstrate with 'civil disobedience'! Maybe a few of them will cart off some of those idiot elected folks on their way out of town!
-
The truckers are the lifeline to everyone. If it wasn't for them and the railroad food would not get anywhere without spoiling. Let alone getting canned good on the shelves, SO GO TRUCKERS.
-
Good weekend to stay away from any of that!!
-
GO TRUCKERS AND MAY GOD BLESS THEM!

I too heard about this. I am all for it. Just hoping everyone stays safe and no one gets hurt. Glad I don't have to drive to work around there. Good luck to those who do. :star:

:) Good for them. I hope it is peaceful and orderly. It is time the government started listening to the people.
-

It is a shame that congress will not negotiate with each other. It seems like if one party is willing to talk the other should talk. Instead, we have children who are too selfish to give in at all. It makes no sense to punish the innocent for their games. Lets work together and get something done. My way or no way does not solve anything.

That's totally awesome!!

This was stupid. If they really wanted to shut down the beltway they would not do it on a weekend. And they wouldn't do it on a holiday weekend. They were suppose to do it again this morning which I assume they didn't since only like 30 trucks showed up. Who cares if they do it on a Monday that is a holiday when everything is closed. And it is crazy to think the government officials will quit their jobs because truckers slow traffic for a couple of days. Although IF all the trucks would stick together and park their rigs it would shut this country down.

Yeah and they have threatened to arrest them. Showed the cops in riot gear. Yeah the big had cops with batons gonna beat up old men who fought for their freedoms.
-
It was quite an interesting event from what I hear, though fortunately it was non-violent....there were also lots of protests in DC about the memorials by vets
-
Glad I don't go to the DC area anymore. It sounds like a real mess not that it hasn't always been. :BangHead:

This event was a bib flop. It would've been good if more people participated...

hahaha that will be so funny to see. the president needs to be impeached. i think we made a bad decision voting him into the house. he's doing nothing but hurting us.
-
I heard on channel 6 news tonight that goverment is now open again. So I do not know how this thing about the truckers will work out, ??? ??? ???

I proudly say I did not vote for him either time! But still being punished as is other Americans.

This isn't Obama's fault. You can thank the Tea Party nut cases in Congress for this fiasco.
-
They shouldn't do that, other people gotta go to work besides the government. Especially next month, my wife will be in DC for a training. I hope the government will be able to reopen things again and find a solution because it will be my wife's first time there and she wants to go sight seeing when she has a break from her training. :-\

I commend them. The government is out of their minds. We lost another one of our military and I bet obama didnt even thank him for his heroism. Our military do not receive anything from that sob.
