I can tell you that down here in the DFW metro mess of Texas we wear hats primarily for protection from the elements. Sun, Sand, Snow, it don't matter what mother nature dishes out a hat is a good first layer of head protection.

Mostly protection, though I try not to wear ugly hats.

Fun - Yes
Protection - Depends: From the sun, yes. From cold, yes. A helmet, I wouldn't go overboard with it... Perhaps on a motorcycle, but not on a bicycle or even driving a car (yes, I actually saw someone wearing a bike helmet while driving their car :dontknow: )

I could wear a hat for all three actually. I like the style of sports caps and showing support for a team. I used to have a Georgetown Hoyas cap a long time ago that I wore regularly. I also wouldn't mind donning a hat for fun ie a Green Bay Packers cheesehead hat.
And I know you can wear hard hats for protection or hats just to keep the rain or snow off of your head.

I wear a hat for protection and also for fun sometimes. I really don't wear them often but when I do it is for those two reasons

I would wear a hat for fun, for style and for protection. I like cowgirl hats, baseball caps and other types of hats that protect from the sun. I love hats so it doesn't matter the reason I would wear one.

Last Christmas I bought a Padora Black Velvet,its the 1st time I've ever wore a hat other than for outdoor sports.I enjoy wearing it when we go out.

I wear one for the look and for style...my work hat is a billboard for the company I work for.

after losing much hair from hardhats in the constuction field, I don`t wear hats anymore

because I have arthirtis on the left side of my head since I was thirty two. So when it is cold out I wear a knitted hat that I made myself. In fact I have many hats all different colors, blue, red, beige, maroon, white and black striped, I had a green one but someone liked it so I gave it to her. I usually give them away when I make them. I know how it feels not to have one.

I would wear a hat only for protection. I remember once when I went fishing with my husband I took the top section of a cafe curtain, threaded a cord through the top, and secured it to a straw hat so that I could adjust the coverage around the hat brim to keep the sun off the back and sides of of my neck. It worked great.

I'm not really a hat person but I do where a hat in summer and winter for protection.

Always watch out for people who wear hats while they're driving. They're notoriously bad drivers. Check it out. :o

i like wearing a hat but i sweat more while wearing it and my face gets more sun. i have a bears hat that i got for a dollar at a garage sale. of course i washed it first. :thumbsup:

I'm hat girl for style, fun, protection and bad hair days. I've always been a hat girl. I used to work in a bakery and thank God they allowed us to wear baseball hat's over our hair nets. I don't think many of us can pull off the hair net look. I know I can't.

I wear my hats for all three - style, fun and protection. I love wearing my hats. I have quite a collection now. I had to start wearing one several years ago when I'm out in the sun due to eye problems.

My husband loves hats and looks great in them. He is always trying to get me to wear them but I don't really like them on me lol! We have a matching gamer themed hats for fishing though.

The only time I wear a hat is if it is really cold outside or if I am running. Mainly because I have a natural part line and my scalp gets sunburned :(

I usually wear a hat first and foremost for protection. I am not really a hat person but when I am outside mowing the lawn on a hot day, I will always wear a hat. I could say style will be my next reason, but with my age, I don't think much of styles, I am antique. LOL

I only wear a hat if I need to... Usually I don't since I either use an umbrella for rain or a hoodie if its cold out

For fun: Yes! I love different types of hats and having fun times.
For protection: Yes. Depending on the situation, I would wear whatever would be needed.

I wasn't a hat person, but ever since we moved here. I have wear hats for winter to avoid headache!!

not a hat person,,, but i will wear one if its really cold and windy !!!!! don't like getting sick jor get an ear ache :)

I love wearing a hat, it makes my dressing complete, especially when it gets realy cold...
