What is a good $15 gift for work secret Santa? I have never participated in this and don't want to show up with something lame or inappropriate. The gift must also be gender neutral.

Food. A fruit or candy basket.

I'd consider a gift card.

Oh, that is a good idea. A gift basket! Thanks!!

Gender neutral makes it hard. Sometimes a gift card doesn't seem like much and seems like you didn't put much effort into it. Idk. I personally wouldn't be disappointed with a fruit basket. They should do it women do women and men do men. If I did a gift card I would do 3 $5 cards from 3 different places. Maybe eating places. Also cheap places. I wouldn't want to give somebody $5 for an expensive steak house. lol

Oh secret santa's are always so fun!
Good Luck with your Secret Santa Gift
Secret santa's are always so fun! I use to love shopping for secret santa gifts it was always a fun and joyous occasion. A gift basket is a nice idea. The possibilities for the basket is endless. Gift card's are a nice touch too but you wanna make sure you get something along with it because some people like gift card's and some don't and sometimes giftcard's seem a little impersonal. You can also get a really nice ornament for their tree to go with the gift card always a nice touch! I have a really hard time staying under a certain price.. I always go over but i stay on the down low with it because it's hard for me! I would go to hallmark they have a lot of really neat gifts under $15.. One year my mom gave a really neat gift to her secret santa because she knew she had no fireplace and she did have kids. Well she started a new tradition with that family because she gave her This santa key it was a little dinky key that didn't really go to anything but she made it santa's key because it had a little santa on it.. It was his way of getting in their house every year since they didn't have a fireplace for him to go down.. and only santa can go through that door Of course that was a big hit and can be a great gift idea. Small things like that are always the greatest gifts. I Hope your first secret santa ordeal is a very magical time!

A picture frame. If a man gets it he will give it to his wife or he might like it for him self if he's not married. Gift cards are great too.

We had this at one of my previous employers-and bottles of alcohol were very popular
-
How about a box of chocolates or a pound of Starbucks coffee or several $5 scratch-off lottery cards from your state lottery? Those are always popular.

A candle set is a good option. Also now since the wax scented pieces is so popular, a burner would be a nice gift.

Some great ideas! A gift basket would be great to receive, I like to try to think of something that I would really like to get, then give that! With gift baskets they can be anything from fruits and nuts, a movie with some popcorn and candies, coffee mug with coffees, just be creative! Good Luck!

A very nice 2014 calendar.

It all depends on the person you're shopping for...assuming it's secret santa and you have a designated person.
If not, maybe something somewhat related to your job?
If you have an office job, maybe a nice calendar like someone else had mentioned, or a nice little desk organizer set.
If you don't have an office-type job, try to think of things that relate to your work.
For example...I work as a security dispatcher, and in previous years people have gotten little tumbler cups (since our drinks have to have lids) with different dispatcher sayings.

I would be upset if I got 3 $5 lottery tickets and then didn't win anything. Because if you do not win then you are getting nothing. Chocolates sounds good. But a lot of people don't drink coffee. They can give it to somebody else though. Having to be neutral makes it hard. People are SO different. I think I would also be upset if I bought a lotto ticket for somebody and gave it to them and it won like $50,000. That'd be my luck.
My ticket wouldn't win but theirs would. lol

Do you know the person? If so, you could do a small little chain gift. Basically you buy a few small items and write a short little card to go with each. Then, you tie all the items together with a string and make a starting point. So, the person pulls on the starting point and a card pulls up that says (for example) "You are bright" and the item is a 60 watt bulb. Or something like "while you can be a little nutty" and give them a small packet of peanuts.
Unless you can do a generic type thing, these are more suited for a person you really know, but that work well for these types of things cause you can buy a bunch of little items that are like a dollar each and make a cute little complimentary story to go along with them.
