What do you do when things get you down? or when everything seems to be dark and depressing? I try positive thoughts, crafting, talking and sometimes I will just sleep..And do you feel more depressed certain times of the year? :peace:

I'm in that kind of situation sometimes and I just took off driving or walking. But the best way is to go walking until you felt calm in you and come back. I do that always. or I go bowling myself alone. go lift those heavy *bleep* will help out totally.. Try it..  :highfive: :highfive:

there is really nothing you can do, depression is called depression because its a state. I have all these things like computers and tv s around me but nothing really seams to satisfy when I'm depressed.
-
When I am depressed about something, it usually stems from anger and not just simply being sad or blue. So I rant to myself, listen to some inspirational or angry music...and rant some more to make myself feel better, lol.
>:(...... :sad1:......:'(.....:(........... :)

I read or work on the internet. November is my worst month-mother and son died. And December is always hard due to missing my family and animals. Thank God I still have my daughter and sister. :(

I think surrounding yourself with positive minded people and positive thoughts can help. Of course, the time of year may mean something too. It just depends on the person. Another way is yoga cause that will not only help your body but your mind and spirit as well.
-
I usually go for a nice long run.
-
Lots of chocolate!
-
It depends on what or who is depressing u. I like to surround myself around positive people who will lift my spirits
-
I do whatever makes me happy. listen to music I love, play games I love, or call someone that I know will give me good conversation which will turn me around. there are some household chores that make me happy and I do them. then the day goes right.

I am one of those people who get depressed when there is less sunlight for daytime hours. I get really cranky and moody if I don't have the sun for at least 10 hours. Winter Blues! I am so glad to live in Texas. Northern states seem so much darker in the winter than Texas. I try to find things to make me happy . The worst is to be stuck in a rut!

:sad1: Sometimes I sleep when depressed but I try not to because I sleep a lot as it is - the only other thing I do is pray and hope God will help me out of whatever situation in life is depressing me. :rose:
-
I don't get real depressed but sometimes when I need a pick me up I will go on Youtbe and watch videos of old songs back in the day that I loved and hadn't heard in a long time. That usually gets me in a good mood.
-
Usually when I am depressed I will play video games, read, listen to music, or be with my family and friends. I've also found out that going walking or doing any type of exercise seems to help as well.
-
Try focusing on solutions to what's bothering you rather than the situation itself, even if finding solutions means asking someone who's been in your shoes or googling it.
I think it'd help to do something to take your mind off the situation, even if that's working.
I like to work out when I'm feeling stressed/overwhelmed.
Listen to relaxing music (I recommend zen relation music via YouTube)
Clean your place, light candles, take a shower then soothing bath.
Comfort food. Even if you are on a diet. It's called soul food for a reason.
Vent. Whether it's via online forum or a close friend let it all out.
Think of all the good things you have going for yourself. If you can see, walk, make lil money from home ;) that's a blessing.
Hope this helps!!!!

I feel depressed a lot and sometimes there is not much I can do when I feel this way. But it always help to find someone to talk too. Just talk about anything to try and get your mind on anything.
-
Take a long walk to free my mind
-
I mostly watch depressing movies or listen to the radio locked in my room.
-
i don't feel depressed to much but when I do, I pray and talk to inspirational people. when depressed you have to stay away from negative people, the Debbie downers. think of things that make you happy or smile. life has a lot to offer, try joining a group or doing something new. create a bucket list and see if that works.
-
Some good old-fashioned exercise is usually my ticket out of those moody blues. Sometimes just watching a good movie that makes you cry can do a body good. :'(
-
I might watch a good tv program or eat my favorite food or snack. If that doesn't work I try talking to a good friend.
-
Unfortunately, I eat... and eat eat eat. :sad1:
-
I listen to upbeat music and try to keep my mind off the negative thoughts.
-
Winter seems to be the most depressing time for me. When that happens I try to do something for someone who needs help. The lack of sunshine I believe is what causes a lot of depression.
-
When I feel sad or depressed I try to sleep so I can forget about things for awhile...but thats not really the best thing to do..I would say the best thing to do is try to surround yourself with positive things. Take on a new hobby. Do something that makes you happy.
-
I also fall out of my element when winter time comes. I slack on working out, my productivity level is not where it was in the summer time.... IDK what it is about the cold ??? But I also get my determination back around Christmas time, thank God.

I watch a good movie or listen to music while knitting.
-
Well that is a hard one. And it all depends on how depressed you are. I suffer from depression and I find that music does help me. I can escape into a world that does not exist with music.
-
I think everyone has a little down feeling, mine is mostly in the winter as the sun doesn't shine very much. Walking is good, and also doing something nice for someone seems to pick me up.
-
In the winter months, when I start feeling down and it's too cold to be outside, I load up on D3, the sunshine vitamin.
The rest of the year, I try to go outside and soak up some natural sunshine.
If that doesn't work, I find something to make me laugh.
Robin Williams usually does it. ;)
-
I have been more depressed lately, it's hard to shake the blues....I have ups and downs....hoping you feel better soon....I have been working out more recently.....I joined they gym.....
-
I pretty much just stay in my bedroom and watch tv and I sleep a lot. I lost my job and that just made my feelings worse everyone says I have depression but I never been diagnosed with it. Maybe I am I have not done much since I lost my job and I have not went out to look for another one either. I don't have insurance and with the new law I don't know how I am going to get insurance either.
-
I know I personally sleep alot when I'm depessed.
-
I have to listen to upbeat music and try to get myself going again. I also tend to go for walks, clear my head and then write everything down in a journal.
-
Sadly, when I'm depressed I turn to junk food. I need to start talking my problems out instead of food because it's increasing my waistline...
-
I listen to music!
-
I agree that natural sunshine is a pick me upper. I tend to sleep when I'm going through something but I don't mind that because my body could use the Z's plus it's better than eating my worries, which I'm known to do. I also think green veggies are a natural pick me upper, so I'm going to get some broccoli when I go to the grocery store today. I have sweet peas and green beas but I think broccoli is a super food.

I pray and read the bible, always always helps.
-
I will go outside and look at the sky and consider the universe and how small I am in the grand scheme of things. Then I remember what a good friend told me years ago: "You won't know the difference a million years from now."
-
Thats a hard one. Getting around people even though you really dont want to be around anyone ends up really changing my mood.
-
I usually take my meds that my Doctor has prescribed for me for depression and do my best to feel better about me and what is causing the depression. Not always easy.
