Title: How Can We Make the "Rainbow" Stand for 'the No-Flood Guarantee' Again?

It used to be that I could proudly say 'I love rainbows,' because "everybody" KNEW that rainbows stand as signatures on God's covenant with all creation (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Gen%209:13-17/&version=KJV) (you might disagree with His reason for making the covenant--'because mankind is inherently evil and so He would have to DESTROY us before we had a chance to 'mend our ways'--but His Word stands.)

Now I hear about the Rainbow Coalition, and 'flood control' is the last thing I would guess the RC handles (the first guess being 'defending homosexuals as if they are another minority').

I suppose that comes from the use of 'rainbow' in the entertainment industry: from PBS's Reading Rainbow to songs like Judy Garland's Somewhere Over the Rainbow & the Muppets' Rainbow Connection ... all made without reference to the covenant  >:(

How do you suggest we return 'the rainbow' to its Biblical meaning?
