we rent for now we are looking to buy within the next year
-
We own a double house and rent out the other side. Renting is not always what it is cracked up to be. :confused1:
-
i'd rather own that way i can make money renting out a room. easy cash and repairs are not so bad if you keep up with maintenance.
-
I would prefer to own than rent. I rented apartments in Chicago, and some of them were real eyesores. I lived in an apartment where we didn't have rats, but superrats. They would sit there and stare at you. I am fortunate; I live in a house that is old, and it was already owned by my husband's family. We have been together 4 years and married for 2 years. It is good, but the coldest room in the entire house is our bedroom.   :rainbow:

I own,,,,,,

own in 27 more years. lol

You're smart to be saving to buy a house next year. At least when you pay a mortgage you know you own the home. It's depressing to pay all that money and think that you own nothing when you get done. My niece just realized that in one year they payed out over $10,000 dollars and own nothing. So work toward your goal.

We rent. :)
-
we own our home. I used to own a trailer park and sold it last year. I feel folks are wasting money on renting. Can use the rent to pay on a mortgage.
-
We were renting for 12 years. Finally we bought our first house last year.
-
That is great. I am living and renting a room from my parents.
-
I am an apartment dweller, ive been living in apartments all my life, i wish one day to won a big home though

Hi aggie,
I live with my parents, who own the house. We have lived here for thirty one years. Have a great day!
-
I own my home (second home I've owned) and I wish I didn't.... I would much rather rent.
-
Own - for 35 years and counting ...
-
We own, it awful when they raise your rent beyond your budget; owning helps to control expenses, with renting it is no investment, but I understand a lot of people have to as it is not that easy to purchase home/condo. Good luck in your future purchase, I think it will be worth it in the long run.

Well , I now rent due to a divorce. THis is new for me. I had a condo I owned before I got married and made the mistake of selling to buy house. Now I am back to paying alot of rent after 13 years. Hoping to one day go back to owning if I am not too old then.
-
We own. But as a single person i rented. I did not have to worry about maintance. If something should happen to hubby i will sell out and rent again. At 70 plus years it is hard to do all the yard workand all the other things that you have to do to your home.
-
i owned for 11 years and lost it because of bush and the housing crises i lost my job that year and got no help so i dont trust enough to buy again
-
As a general rule I would say it is better to own. Especially if you plan to stay in your house for a number of years. The only time I would say it may be better to rent, is if you are either in the military or don't plan to be in that location for long. If house prices drop significantly and you are unable to sell, you may be forced to rent out your house and that may be a headache you don't want. If however the idea of becoming a landlord appeals to you, then why not buy anyway. By the time your house is paid off (ie in 25 years), it is certain to be worth more than the purchase price.

own I really like having my own house

In our 50 years together, we have rented apartments and owned houses. Now we live in a house on a small farm that my husband inherited from his parents. I like this much better. We also have a nice mobile home on the property that we rent out. Our renters are great. We hesitated to rent it because we had such terrible experiences twice when we rented out the house before we moved in. The house was so damaged we had to practically redo the whole inside. We swore we would never rent again, but we were fortunate this time.

I'm currently renting and like it that way fr now

I am lucky to own my home. It has been paid off for the last 16 years !!!! I was so happy to pay that last payment. It was an awesome feeling !!!!!

We own our home and it is just what we wanted. We bought it 13 years ago and plan to stay here forever. It is just big enough for our needs. We purchased it online and moved here from another state. It was the best move we ever made. I know it was taking a chance but we pray a lot and trusted that God would guide us and He did. I hope everyone who are looking for a home prays because God delivers what you need I truly believe that.

We own. Only $30,000.00 more and we really own it.

-

-
We have a house. Hope to be mortgage free soon. :)
-
I own. You want to buy when the interest rates are low.
-
I have own this house for almost 14 years and counting and not planning to move.

I live with my parents now. They just bought a house and I moved with them. I am trying to pay off a lot of bills and save money to rent or possibly save money to buy my own house. The area we moved to the houses are relatively cheap compared to where we did live!
