Title: how to create a successful ref site

I have been putting in a ton of effort and can't seem to get many results. I know that SEO is a big deal, and with all the new updates to google, I'm not even sure how to rank good. Any tips from some of you pros?

If you want to rank on Google, set up a WordPress Blog on your own domain and hosting, then write a lot of interesting content. They will find you without any SEO. It will also help to include a video or two from YouTube (since Google owns YouTube) and get that ranked too. For an example do a Google Search for Traffic Swirl Marketplace on Google or YouTube and watch my video.

if you have a facebook friends, you have traffic. Make your site appealing enough for your friends and then it will be ready for strangers to enjoy.

i always heard blogging was the best way, and then sign up to a pinging service.  each time they ping you google captures that and over time it raises alexa rankings

I have never tried this personally but the other suggestions given by people seem worth trying
