Title: Price of gas
Post by: melodylogan45 on March 02, 2014, 05:25:55 am
Is the high price of gas concerning to anyone else?

When money is an issue, it makes it a struggle to keep the gas
Tank full.

Gas is $3.08 a gallon here were I live.  I was even higher than that last week but it went down a few cents.  I wish the oil company would get their act together and lower prices so everything else will go down like grocreys and other things.  Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe.

Wow, I wish gas was that low here! In west central WI we are paying $3.49 for gas. The LP shortage has also jacked up LP prices. A few weeks ago it was $5.25 per gallon. When we filled up in August, it was only $1.39. We need LP again and it is $2.95. Ughhh! So ready for this winter to be over.

Our gas price today is $3.45.

I have a full tank so I am hopeful it will go back down before I need to refill.

It is $3.08 a gallon here in Mississippi as well.  My husband spends between $15 and $20 and I doubt if he fills up the tank.  He leaves the house every day, so yes, it is a big concern. ??? ??? ??? :rainbow:

Gas prices go up every year in the spring. They have been fluctuating in the same basic range for years now, so it's not really concerning. If it's hurting your budget, you probably need to do a better job of budgeting.

This is an old issue now. Gas has been higher than it should be for so long now, it is not even worth talking about
anymore.

I pay roughly 1.43 a litre in Quebec...which is roughly 5 bucks a gallon.  I would KILL to have $3.17 a gallon!

It is hard to not respond to your comment with angry words.  There are a lot of people who are having a hard time right now.  A lot of people are struggling.  There are people who do not have a job and cannot find a job.  And yes, they are looking.  Money only goes so far.  Just because a person is having a hard time does not mean they are doing a bad job at budgeting or that they are wasting money.  People who have never had to work for anything or had to struggle just do not get it.

But what is your pay in Quebec?  I am also not sure how the Canadian dollar compares to the American dollar.  That makes a huge difference when you compare what you pay for gas to what American pays for gas.

It's also the same with people who live in the North in the US and those who live in the South.  Yeah gas may be $4 something up North but they also make like $20 an hour where as in the South the average pay is more like $7.25 so take also into account only working 20 hours a week and $3.50 for a gallon of gas is a lot of money.

As the price of gas increases, so do everything we buy goes up.

My newest daytime project is only three and a half miles from home.  I filled my tank for the first time in six to seven weeks on Sunday! Most of my life I am working out of the house so gas just cost me less than eight dollars a week! I am hoping to get on with this company just because of the low gas cost, short commute time and...what the heck...they don't pay to bad! The commute time alone allows me an extra hour per day, five hours per week, twenty hours per month to work on my night time/weekend job!  I even had time to work out this week! I haven't had this human time in what seems to be forever! I was surprised that gas was up to three dollars and fifty cents a gallon but I got ten cents off per gallon as a grocery bonus...took some of the sting away.

Please do not put words in mouth as you're just trying to find something to get worked up about. My comments were on gas prices and how they have been consistent for quite some time. This should allow you to reasonably budget for them.

I've noticed gas has been going up.  Paid $3.37 the other day and it's already gone up a penny between yesterday and today.  I drive to work so I don't have any other choice but to pay.  I use gas buddy sometimes to find the cheapest rate in my area.

I am not putting words in your mouth.  YOU said the words.  And I am not worked up.  But it does make me mad when somebody says "well if you do not have the money for something or can't afford something then you need to budget better or get a better job.  And YOU did say "you need to do a better job budgeting".  My point is there are people who are doing the best they can with what they have.  And it has nothing to do with not budgeting their money correctly.  Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a high paying job with 40 hours a week.

You're doing it again. It might make you mad that when you can’t afford something people say to get a better job or to stop wasting your money, but I didn’t say that. I did say that you need to do a better job budgeting if the gas price fluctuations are hurting your budget. Which is true. When you make your monthly budget,  you should account for those fluctuations. Even at the high end, if gas prices go up 50 cents in a month, with me filing up my 18 gal tank every two weeks, we're talking about a $9.00 increase. That's not what's killing one's budget. I'd say most people claiming that don't actually make a budget.

I understand that not everyone is fortunate enough to have a 40 hour a week job, but please don't make the mistake in believing that everyone with one was just handed it.

The price of gas in our town is increasing too fast lately. Increased 10% in a week this is horrible.
