Title: Keeping An Open Mind
Post by: minioncookies on March 03, 2014, 03:54:16 am
Do you think going Into new changes, new developments, new idea's new trends, new foods, etc with an open mind it makes a diffrence?

I think.. the Fact is.. If you go into new changes and trying new things with a mind that is set on "that looks gross" "that's nasty" "i don't like that" Odds are you won't like it.. Basically before you try it you trick your mind into not liking it..

Is anyone here guilty of doing this?
I know i am!

What are your thoughts on it?

I'm not very adventurous, especially when it comes to food, so I certainly don't have an open mind to try new foods. Every once in a while I'll try something different, especially vegetables, since I do like most vegetables.

I was like that as a kid.  If it did not look appetizing to me, I refused to eat it.  My grandson is like that now.  He will say "yuck" before he tries something.  I keep telling him that he don't know what he would like if he doesn't try it.   ??? :rainbow:

Well, yes and no.  I agree if you start a new job or try a new food  or restaurant and you go in saying "I don't like that" then most likely you will not.

I don't necessarily agree with certain situations.  For example, I do not drink.  I can go to a drinking party and in my head say it will be fun or it will be okay.  But, I do not agree with drinking or getting drunk.  I do not want to put up with a bunch of drunks.  So no matter how much "fun" I think the party will be changes are it will not be fun.

A good example, when I was 18 I wanted to go to a party with my co-workers.  My dad said I couldn't go.
He finally said I could IF mom took me and came back and got me.  He knew everyone would be drinking.
I now understand I don't think he didn't trust me not to drink but didn't trust my co-workers to not spike my drink.  And they would have if I had set my drink down.  Sad huh.  Anyway, I THOUGHT the party would be fun.  It wasn't.  Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE got drunk but me.

I try and keep an open mind  on most things.  sometimes it may take me awhile to "get" it but  I will try and take new ideas or what ever in.

I definitely agree with you.  Some of my friends have decided they don't like things before even trying it, and I think that definitely affects your actual experience.  I'm super open-minded with everything though, and I usually end up liking everything, too, so... :highfive:

Sometimes our minds are made up before we even give things a chance. I didn't think people could make any decent money doing these online surveys but apparently I was wrong. ;)

I keep an open mind on foods, movies and those types of things.  However, I am extremely cautious regarding my safety and well being.  What a terrific topic.  Have a good evening!

So what I'm trying to say is yes every one need to open mind on every thing now a days. Technologies changing people not the nature or else, it the technology. So be open eye and open mind. We are heading in a very comfort easy by very very dangerous way... But yes I am always open minded mother, especially with 4 kids heading in their teenager age...  :highfive:

I think that the mind is incredibly powerful. A person's perspective can certainly influence things.

My grandson was also a picky eater,  and his mother was always telling him, You don't know what it tastes like until you try it.  My daughter is very persistent, much more than I was when she was little, so he has gradually tried more foods and is surprised when he likes them.  At six, he is eating a greater variety and has become more aware of healthy foods.  My daughter is a great Mom!!

I think trying something new, especially a food item, is up to the person who is about to try it.  For me, if it looks like something "tasty" I will try it, but, if it looks like something that came from the bottom of my shoe, no way!!!!
