Title: Quick dinner ideas
Post by: sgluckadoo on March 16, 2014, 04:28:13 pm
What do you do when you don't have much time or are simply to worn out for making dinner? I usually resort to a simple sandwich or a bowl of cereal.

Since it  is still chilly outside, I'll usually heat something up in the oven, like fries, or a fish/chicken patty. It just seems like lately, I've been using the oven more instead of cooking because our schedule has been such that I don't always feel like cooking something. I still have days where I have a meal planned and I'll cook it, but right now it's easier for me to just throw something in the oven. Oh, and I like your sandwich idea.

I can relate to this. Every couple of weeks or so I feel like I've done it all and what else can I cook. I've reached that point today and I'm wondering what I should do. I also want it to be healthy so cereal or a sandwich won't cut it. I'll have to go online and see if I can find an idea.

I do most of the cooking around here.  One day I decided to make a hot dog and pork & bean casserole.  I boiled hot dogs, cut them up, poured pork and beans over them and baked them with cheese on the top.  It was a big hit.  It was a quick meal.   :present: :rainbow:

Sandwiches are definitely the easiest to do. I used to live off of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but since totally lost taste for the stuff. Probably because I ate them so much, haha. Now I make sandwiches out of Boca's veggie chicken patties, or slices of Tofurky stuff. Other than that, I heat a frozen pizza up in the oven or fix a TV dinner. The diet could definitely be improved. That's a spring goal of mine -- healthier eating! :) (I have been known to eat toast or waffles for dinner, haha.)
