Why or why not do you believe that?....can you give examples?
-
I believe things do happen for a reason. Sometimes things happen when you expect them to, and there are times when they happen when you don't expect them to. When you expect them to happen, it doesn't happen when you want it to. I do know this; when it happens, it will happen right on time.   :rainbow:

I believe everything happens for a reason. There are too many times when someone changes there mind at the last minute and doesn't do something they planned only to have something awful happen to the people that went.
Some things are just conroled by fate.
-
I believe a lot of incidents or situations are divinely engineered but not everything, as human error, ill-will, and unwise decisions enter in to confound circumstances and alter outcomes; but I also am convinced that God can and will take even bad situations and turn them into good for those who trust and follow Him, as He has promised.
-
I always say things happen for a reason. I guess it makes you able to deal with the situation at hand.
-
Everything on Earth happens for a reason. God has control over everything.

Yes I do believe ... There was a girl that I used to work with and the day she had her baby her dad stayed home from work to go see her .... the date was 9/11/2001 and he worked in the twin towers in New York ... I truly believed that for some reason it was not his time to go and fate intervened.

I hate this saying. What are we puppets and God is the puppeteer? The bible says time and unforseen occurrence befalls everyone. In other words sometimes you might be in the wrong place at the wrong time.Maybe you bought the lottery ticket at the right time.
Many say God knew Adam would sin.If that was the case why did he even bother warning him of penalty of death if he dis-obeyed?Freedom of choice was involved here.It certainly wouldnt be fair to Gods creation if HE knew the outcome ALL the time. The answer is God has control of that...when to see ahead and when NOT to.Love is also involved.
Jesus said when you know the truth it sets you free from all these superstitions etc.The world is blinded by Satan. Many think they get a hearing if they repeat a prayer over and over.Jesus warned it is foolish to do so.Yet christendom prays that way sadly.
So if 1 gets drunk and gets behind the wheel of a car thinking he can drive and smashes his car and hurts others too...did God control that?NO..it happened for a reason.....the drunk was stupid enuff to try and drive while bombed so if thats your assessment of something happening for a reason that is correct.
Wake up.....dont use the piece of wood to help you get warm and then cook with it....then carve an image and bow down to a dead piece of wood and refer to it as a god or good luck charm!!

Can You Control Your Destiny?
IS OUR ultimate destiny predetermined? Do the choices we make in life have no effect on our future?
Suppose man is master of his own fate. In this case, could any individual be foreordained to perform a specific task or occupy a certain office? And how could God accomplish his will for the earth if humans were free to shape their own destiny? The Bible provides satisfying answers to these questions.
Predestination and Free Will—Reconcilable?
Consider how Jehovah God made us. “In God’s image he created [man]; male and female he created them,” states the Bible. (Genesis 1:27) Made in God’s likeness, we have the ability to reflect his qualities, such as love, justice, wisdom, and power. God has also given us the gift of free will, or freedom of choice. This makes us unique among his earthly creation. We can choose whether we will follow God’s moral guidance or not. That is why the prophet Moses could say: “I do take the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you today, that I have put life and death before you, the blessing and the malediction; and you must choose life in order that you may keep alive, you and your offspring, by loving Jehovah your God, by listening to his voice and by sticking to him.”—Deuteronomy 30:19, 20.
The gift of freedom of choice, though, does not mean absolute freedom. It does not free us from the physical and moral laws that God made for the stability and peace of the universe. These laws were set up for our good, and any violation of them could lead to serious consequences. Just think of what would happen if we chose to ignore the law of gravity and jumped off the roof of a tall building!—Galatians 6:7.

Of course things happen for a reason. Look up synchronicity and Synchro-destiny.
-
Not that this is exactly on topic, but sort of......
I used to believe in karma, that what goes around comes around. I've drawn the conclusion recently that there is no such thing. I've seen too many not that good people become successful, & it is because they step on people climbing up, they look out for themselves only & are successful.
-
No, not really. I think things happen due to a series of choices and consequences and that there is nothing operating behind why or when things happen.
-
Yes. There are no accidents, everything is for a purpose.
-
I sure do, I believe it is all a part of God's plan for us, He can see the whole picture while we only get a glimpse from a human perspective, I have seen how He puts things together in my life and makes everything come out okay, when I think it will be bad.
-
Absolutely, especially these days. Fate, divine intervention...you just never know.
-
I know bad things always happen for a reason, because that this the way life is.
-
Yes, I believe that things happen for a reason but sometimes we don't know what those reasons are. Like when someone close dies in an accident.
-
I totally believe that things happen for a reason and a lot of those reasons center around Kharma. Do something good and I believe it will come back to shine in your life at ten times the cost. I was involved in the real estate/mortgage crash and had a hard time finding any kind of work...much less something in m field. I took a horrible third shift job with the hopes that I could eventually get my business going again. Six years of nothing but a few deals hear and there. Around that time, my wife and I, went to a charity benefit for disabled actors/actresses. We went because the tickets were free and the meal would be one less expense in our lives. We were so moved by the courage and strength of the handicapped crew that we donated what amounted to a lot of money for us at the time. Two days later I got a job offer out of the clear blue and have been blessed with steady work ever since in a field that doesn't beat me up.

Thanks and for the record I to believe that EVERYTHING happens for a reason and sometimes for the BEST!!
-
yes and God is in control

So lets see.I am 62 and just found out i wont die till im 83.So no need for life insurance now.And of course i can go sky diving and smoke 5 packs of ciggys a day and NOT watch what i eat or drink.Maybe ill go hold up a bank and not worry about getting shot cos fate says i wont die for awhile!!
OK....i think i just sent most of u a message and tried to add a bit of humor to it!!
True story...i knew a guy that went to Vietnam and survived his stay there in the 60s.When he came home he was drag racing 1 night with 4 others in his car. They crashed. He died with 3 others in the car.I guess the point i try to make here is he had a better chance dying in combat in Vietnam and didnt. His stupidity to drag race cost him and others his life.He didnt have to do that."Time and unforseen occurrence befalls everyone. And freedom of choice also influences our decisions.
And as many of you know i beleive Gods name is Jehovah. The name Jehovah means "he causes to become"...so when he decrees something it will happen. But HE also has the power when NOT to know something as well...otherwise it woldnt be fair to HIS creation.

Everything happens for a reason. People believe different things behind the reason. I do believe in God. But I do not believe when someone dies in a car accident that God done it for a reason. The reason may have been some idiot was texting, or driving drunk, or someone just not paying attention. We have free will and people make decisions that effect others. I can plant a garden and never pay attention to it again and everything will die. So it died because I neglected it. The reason. I can drive too fast and get a speeding ticket. The reason - I drove too fast. I do not believe in karma or that if people are mean and evil that they will "get paid back for that" (a famous saying my an ex neighbor). Why? I know people who spend their lives doing everything they can to hurt others and are just plain mean. They don't work, they lie, they cheat, they steal, and nothing bad ever happens to them. Then I know good people who try and struggle, have health problems, and seems as though they cannot catch a break.
-
Countrygirl...while i agree finally with something 1 says on this with your post...remember we reap what we sow.
Lemme use Bernie Madoof as an example. He got away for years robbing others. Now hes in prison and his son committed suicide. It took awhile but he got paid back.So the saying what goes around comes around is pretty accurate.
And while a good hearted individual may be taken advantage of by mean people,in the long haul many will give back to him for his generosity...and that doesnt have to be just in materialism either.
-
No I don't believe everything happens for a reason. That's really just something people tell themselves to get through the difficult times.
-
Yes I believe everything happens for a reason - it is part of my religious beliefs because I believe everything works together to form the plan that God has for my life. That is just my personal belief. Now sometimes things happen that I wish could have happened a different way but I have to accept the bad with the good or what seems to be bad.
-
Why or why not do you believe that?....can you give examples?
I absolutely think things happen for a reason. My story is too long to tell here but the final results is I adopted a little girl last year. God works miracles.
-
Actually I am not sure about this. I think sometimes things happen for a reason. other times not. I do believe that karma is real to a point.
-
This is actually a difficult question to answer, even if you dissect what is meant by "happening for a reason"... For example, you could mean that your actions are governed by some cosmic plan, or on the other hand you could merely mean that a person's actions are governed by cause and effect. This latter understanding to your question is what I believe. According to natural laws of the universe, every action has an equal and opposite reaction (and similarly, every action is predicated on some previous action). So technically it might be possible to trace a person's death all the way back to the moment when they were conceived given that all of the inputs to every action were known. However there is so many factors to consider that it is almost impossible to do something like this. For example, a man is sitting on a bench reading a book when the breeze changes and he notices the scent of a perfume that he likes, so he turns his head and meets a woman that will later become his wife. Even in this short instance, actions like how the breeze was blowing, the author that wrote the book that the man was reading, why both people were in the park at the same time, etc. all played a role in how this couple met. Maybe if Tolkien didn't write LotR, the man may not have been sitting on the bench reading. So in that sense, Tolkien's writing was a reason why these two people met. So even from a base, physical standpoint yes, things happen for a reason, however since the reasons behind each event are so multitudinous it is nearly impossible to understand all of the interactions at play, not to mention how it's almost impossible to predict what a person will do in the future.
-
I think they do because people all have a destiny they can't change so if something happens it was ment to happen. For example I was in a car accident that broke my neck but here I am still trying to make a difference.
-
yes but still dont understand y
-
Do things happen for a reason? Yes, I believe so, although we may not understand it at the time. But I believe there are no "accidents". Time reveals all.
Can I give an example? Yes - my uncle's story. He and his wife lost everything in a tornado. House, car, everything. And it was not a good time in their marriage. They sat down and talked honestly and said that they had not been getting along, had not had any children and with everything gone maybe this is just the best time to part ways. They did not. They worked through it and started over together. After relocating to Cincinnati and rebuilding a new life he was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in the big city and they had a son. And a second son. And life went on and now they remain still happily together with their two sons and grandchildren and city pension and living on together.
What has it shown and why? I believe their boys know the story and this is part of the boys' story and why they may be living happily with their wives and kids. The circle of life goes on.

All I can say is YES>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
-
I think that a lot of things happen for reasons specially so all the tragedies in the United States and world because of so much corruption and sending and disobeying laws of God like gay marriages and all the love pornography and drinking and drugs a Buse ab using the families. And all a lot of things cause they refuse to obey God's commandments and he go at bad things happen to them like Satan wants them to do. Because Satan is very unhappy he wants every else to be very unhappy to!
-
Why or why not do you believe that?....can you give examples?
Yes i do believe everything happens because of a reason
-
I think things happen because of a chain of events. I feel that when bad things happen if you learn something it's okay. Do they happen for a reason...not really sure. Good question.
-
A few days ago 2 small children lost their lives to a house fire.1 of them was fooling around with a cigarette lighter.Obviously the reason why they died.Did God cause that?ABSOLUTELY NOT!!Their lives were not pre-destined for that to happen. You can say maybe the adults were careless that they left the lighter in a bad place as the reason possibly.Thats what caused it.
I believe that God will answer prayers and change a situation for us if we say our prayer in harmony with his will. But to those that think fate exists and our lives are pre-destined that is a crock.
You reap what you sow.You have freedom of choice.Time and unforseen occurrence befalls everyone.Truly a shame the human race falls victim to superstition and falsehoods and let it govern their lives. But it also depends on how much 1 really wants to know the truth.I guess we all have to find out the hard way too at times!!
-
I believe things happen for a reason, sometimes we don't know what those reasons are for say, years perhaps ... but believing that things happen for a reason does not mitigate our free will in the whole process. It's like God/Universe whatever you believe in puts things out there for us to brush up against or run head long in to ... the results generally, in my world, show up as something I've needed to learn or do.
-
Yes, I believe everything happen for a reason, becaust that is how life is
-
Yes - though sometimes we don't even know or can't see the reasons
-
I do believe that everything happens for a reason. Whether it's something good or bad I think that we all have a certain goal in life that is already set for us. When good things happen, appreciate them. When bad things happen, find a way to appreciate them also, because sooner or later you (hopefully) realize that it happened for the best! If everything was great all the time how would we ever learn to appreciate it and actually know what happiness is without experiencing pain?
-
No. This may very well be an excuse for people who are too lazy to attempt to achieve anything. I remember my friend who didn't study for a test and when she got a failing test score, she said " It's because I ate eggs the morning of the test". Results are not predetermined. :(
