Post by: heather41v on April 27, 2014, 10:21:21 am: I was 16, I got it 2 months after my 16th birthday. Funny thing is, kids these day don't seem to be in so much of a hurry. My 17 year old (almost 18) is in no hurry to get his, and very few of his friends have theirs. Maybe it's because they all communicate by the internet?

I got mine when I was 18 years old. In my country, that was the age that you could have your driver license. first you had to take test first and if you did not pass, guess what driving permit with a license relative with you while driving a vehicle...

Post by: luvh8tragedy87 on April 27, 2014, 11:30:18 pm: I was 16. My first day of driver's ed happened to fall on my 16th birthday. But I actually don't drive much, if at all. Being on the road makes my anxiety go up. I can if I need to though. I keep my license renewed and current in case there's an emergency or something.

I was initially excited to get my license, but as I didn't have as many opportunities the interested started to die down.

Drove the grain truck to town, (A little town). Most of us farm and ranch kids got our drivers lic. early. Now a days that would not happen.

I had been driving off and on for several years prior but never really had the chance to go test for it (except for one time, but I didn't feel ready so I passed on that chance).

Post by: mrisha on May 01, 2014, 02:41:53 pm: I got my drivers license at the age of 15.5. My dad had to sign for me because I wasn't quite 16. My Mom wouldn't sign but she punished me by sending to the store each time she needed something and being bothered with my sisters and brothers.

However, that didn't stop me from driving. Very blessed I never was in an accident or got pulled over!! Scary to think about some of the things I did when I was younger! Very blessed to still be alive!!!

Post by: missplaymate618 on May 05, 2014, 01:23:30 pm: Got my license on my 16th bday, I remember my dad and I going to the DMV early that morning to get it, here where I live you can take a course called behind the wheel and you take your driving test with them so I did that when I was 15 so as soon as Sept 1st came I could get my license at 16.

If you take your driving test in an automatic vehicle you can then only drive an automatic however if you take your test in a manual transmission car, you are then licensed to drive both. You are also tested on parallel parking and reversing round a corner (like 12 inches away) and if you touch the corner, you fail. I found it quite intimidating.

Post by: amelhuish on May 17, 2014, 05:18:41 pm: The day I turned 16 was the day I got my drivers license,(MO law) I even went 30 mins away from my home town just so I could take it on my birthday. Same with my permit at 15, birthday came along and I went straight to take the test to get my permit. Never understood the people who wanted to wait. To me driving was something new and exciting.

I was 16. However,most of the young people are not so anxious to get their license. I wanted the freedom and ability to drive to a job. That was the reason I gave my parents. I got ajob and needed myself to and from. It worked. I was so happy to have a car and drive.

We've told her that until she can pay for her insurance she can't get it. Maybe now that graduation from High school is a week away and doesn't have to worry about grades till the fall and college she go out and get a job!
