I like to read a good book, or watch tv shows like America's funniest Home Videos.

It depends on the level of stress, but reading a book, playing candy crush and watching TV are a few of them.  If my stress level is to high I will go get a massage to relax very well

I either go work out to blow off steam or listen to music. I also like watching my fish; aquariums are great for de-stressing.

You get away from stress by doing something that you thoroughly enjoy.  Or if need be get away to do something as simple going to a museum, taking photos.  Anything that makes you smile and mean and feel it. :peace:

Unfortunately, I had to change jobs to reduce my stress and it wasn't any too soon, either.  The huge amount of stress I was under was really starting to effect my health.  I was taking two different blood pressure pills and two different anti-anxiety pills each day and a knock-out pill at night just to be able to get through the day and sleep at night.  I had such a work load that I would do it in my sleep at night.  It was also causing my pre-MS to progress quickly.  After I changed jobs, I am no longer on any medications (which is probably good since I am only make about 1/2 of what I was before changing jobs).

How do you reduce stress?
That is a question every American wants an answer to. For me it is a casual walk. Something about the birds and the air just wipe away all those troubles. Others choose meditation. Some like a good book. Some escape into a movie. Whatevere pushes your button.Find it!

Shower/bath, light incense, turn off tv/radio/computer/phone, rest, eat something uplifting (but healthy if possible), read, play music, talk out issues with a close friend, and/or go somewhere like to the park or library.

Turn up the music and do some surveys. If that doesn't work I just go to bed! I have had and still do have  a lot of stress in my life so I have learned to cope one way or another. I guess as you get older you find out ways to cope better. I always thought the older I got the less stress I would have but BOY was I wrong!

I have been under a lot of stress working on a large insurance claim for my dad, and am having to contend with a know it all sister. She is in Alaska and still wants to tells us what to do. I am going by what the insurance agents tell me and she is telling my dad things  that do not jive with the agents. (she is a know it all and is sitting in Alaska). Has been hard. So I  and hubby just took the day off and went to the lake. I did not even care if I caught a fish. It was so relaxing. But back at it again Sat.

That is a great way to handle stress. I do not do this, lol. I am an eater. Turn to food when stressed, which is ALL the time. I just ordered a NAT GEO DVD on Stress to show one of my classes where we talk about stress and how harmful it is.

I play video games, walk, hug my family/dog, dance, sing a powerful song, etc.  I think those are mostly the things I do to relax.  Sometimes I write, but that's few and far between.  Generally, I just need to do something to get the emotion out of my body and then I can put things into perspective and relax a bit.  Then again, I haven't had any hugely stressful situations yet (like losing a job or not being able to pay bills) so I don't know if my strategies would work for something like that, but they work for when I'm overly stressed at work.

In a perfect world I would have a gym membership allowing me to use treadmills, eliptical's and other pieces of equipment for at least an hour every other day or so.  Than I would have a quiet house to walk into with no schedule to adhere to so I could shower or soak in the tub... That alone would reduce my stress..  But since that won't happen again till my kids are out of the house in the mean time I de-stress by napping.

One of the best ways I've found to destress is to deep breathe. Breathe in through your nose to a count of 4; hold it for a count of 7; exhale through your mouth to a count of 8. You absolutely cannot be tense or stressed as you're deep breathing.  8)

I think about what it is that is stressing me out. You can either do something to fix what it is that is stressing you out or sometimes there is nothing that you can do about it and it is out of your power. In that case I just remind myself that I cannot fix it so I should not worry about it and that everything happens for a good reason. Then I usually do something that will relax me or help me get my mind off it like go out or watch a movie at home or with friends.

I am careful about my situations... I handle people and $ wisely to avoid stressful situations... I pray, do what I enjoy and try ti relax around people that love me and stay away from drama...unhealthy habits and unmature decisions make stress worse for yourself and others.

I try to be proactive. I don't like to take on more than I can handle. I eat right and drink plenty of water. I exercise in the morning and try to get a second cardiovascular workout between jobs in the afternoon.  I try not to take anything too personally. I confront problem areas so that they do not become larger from neglect. I take fifteen minutes every morning to walk the dogs, say my prayers and Thank the lord for another day.  I take another fifteen minutes to plan out the day ahead of me and set my goals-leaving them flexible enough so that something comes up I have it covered. That is how I handle stress.

I reduce stress by using the "self talk technique", when i feel the stress coming, I remind
myself that if i do not stay in control and think about why I am getting stressed that i will
get sick and be in pain. I also go walking to reduce it and watch tv.

When I feel stress coming I get my crocheting out.  Sometimes I breathe in deep and let it out slowly, sometimes I exercise when I am really stress.  I try to exercise but days when my back hurts I can't.  Also mediate really helps, get all your bad vibes out of your mind.

Instead of eating, try walking :) Not only does it clear your mind, it burns calories.  Don't even think about what you're doing, just go to a nice place to walk, set your music, and just do it.

How do you reduce stress?

I know there are productive ways to manage stress, but I don't use them. I, unfortunately, over eat to cope and would probably drink if I could afford to!

We think alike! Instead of focusing on the problem, I now focus on the solution.  And as with this stressful house hunting ordeal going on I recently decided to not stress it but instead just keep submitting offers and saving up and if all else fails just buy something paid in full in February and not have to worry about financing. And then sometimes I tend to worry on stuff that's not even worth it so now I feel like if it's not gonna impact my life just let it go.

M biggest reason for stress is my hubby , When I want something done I want it now. He on the other hand does not. Be glad when school starts again.  Of course I have a lot to do for dad, with all his meds and clean, do laundry. Now hubby is going to have to have cataritcs  taken off both eyes, and they just changed his appt.  Now we have to wait even longer to get started. Wish they would not do that.
