Is there anyone in your family or anyone that you know that can knit or sew?
-
Yes, I do. I knit and crochet a lot. In fact, I join a group of people who knit and crochet every Friday. We knit and crochet items for charity. We just finished a big project of making washcloths for soldiers in Afghanistan. Why the U.S. Govt. doesn't provide enough washcloths for soldiers I don't know, but there was a call out for them so we responded. Another project was to make hats, mittens and scarves for an entire second grade class in upstate NY. Their teacher was complaining online that her students didn't seem to be equipped with warm enough clothing in the wintertime.

My mom used to crochet all the time.
Doesn't seem like people have hobbies like that anymore. Everyone has their head buried in their phone or iPad! Lol

I crochet, my daughter wanted to try to learn but she doesn't really have the time to sit down and learn right now. I do have a sewing machine and now want to learn to do some sewing, just a matter of making myself do it. LOL ::)

I can sew a button on. Learned in home ec in middle school, comes in handy.....though I wanted to take a science class.

I used to knit and crochet but as I got older and carpel tunnel got worse I quit. But I still like to sew and paint gourds. Still some life in this old broad.

Yea, me. I knit, crochet, sew and cross stitch. I started learning in grade school and just kept adding. I've tried tatting too, but my crochet tension is the opposite of tatting so I didn't pursue it. :D

There is a lady I use to work with who made hats, scarves and the hat scarf combination.....I have two of those and a few more items I got from her.....

I crochet and sew, too. I have a nice little singer sewing machine and there was a time when I made my own clothes. Nowadays, it's a little bit counterproductive to sew your own clothes unless you can get a bargain on fabric and other supplies.
I can; however, shop at the thrift store and find a flat sheet for $2. Then I can make a dress or something out of that fabric. It can be a creative outlet that ends up being very satisfying.

I can sew. I just don't take the time to do much sewing anymore.
I've made a lot of clothes over the years.....shirts, shorts, winter coat, snowpants, dresses, skirts, baptism gowns, bridesmaids dresses....curtains, pillows...

In high school, I taught myself how to knit. The sweater turned out too big so I wore it later when I was pregnant.
I also taught myself how to crochet and made a couple of afghans.

I knit, crochet and sew.Love to knit.I am completely self taught in all.Had no one to show me how to do any of them.So everything I know came from library books and trial and error.I taught myself at 15 and that was about 37 years ago.

I crochet, and had a sewing machine so I have sewn too. My daughter was jumping up and down on her bed and killed my sewing machine when she was younger. My aunts sew on machines now.   :rainbow: :rose:

i have a doll collection, and i love to make doll clothes, and over the last 2 decades i have made 5 quilts to give away as presents and i kept one for myself. my grandmother taught me to crochet when i was 5, and i taught myself how to sew. there are sewing centers and quilt shops that offer beginner classes at a reasonable price. making things is a very rewarding activity

I do it all I love working with my hands.

Yes, my mom sews all the time and her friend knits quite a bit. :present:

i used to sew everything because 20 years ago you could make it for less and nowadays you can buy it for less. It costs more to buy the pattern, fabric, thread, interfacing, lining. buttons, zippers etc.than to get something on sale. So now I wouldn't dream of it . It costs so much more to sew than to go out to a final clearance sale and buy good clothes from 3 to 5 dollars.

I knit and crochet I have made blankets, sweaters, hats and scarfs. As far as sewing I can hand sew but the machine and I don't get along.
