"God is true, a God who cannot lie. He is truth personified. God is true. If that is so, then you must believe in Christ. Why? Because God sent an angel and said this child is Immanuel. This is Jesus who will save His people from their sins. Because God sent an angel, this is the Son of God, because God spoke at His baptism, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.” Because God spoke at the Transfiguration, “This is My beloved Son, listen to Him.”
If you don’t believe that Jesus is the Son of God, then God lied. Understand? So don’t come with some kind of patronizing statement about, “Well I believe in God, I believe in the true God, I just reject Christ.” No, if you reject Christ, then you affirm that God is a liar. Contrary to that, He who receives the testimony concerning Christ, sets His seal to this, that God is true. You can’t say God is true but reject Christ. You can’t do that."
- Dr. John MacArthur

That is a huge circular argument that Dr. MacArthur is making... Since there is no evidence of what God or his angels said except for what's written in the Christian Bible (along with perhaps other non-canonical Christian writings), you would first have to accept that whatever was written in the Bible is an accurate description of the truth. But only Christians would believe that premise. And yet by definition, Christians are those that believe in both God and in Christ. So of course Dr. MacArthur's explanation makes logical sense for Christians, which is already a given by the mere fact that they're Christians.
But it would also be logically consistent if a Jewish person to believe in God without believing in Christ. Because the Jew only believes in the Torah, they may feel that what was attributed to the angel as saying was a lie or at the very least a miss understanding presented by the fallible human that wrote that passage. To a Jewish person, just because something was written in the New Testament doesn't mean that it is the literal spoken word from God, and therefore can still believe that what God actually says is truth but not necessarily everything written outside of the Torah as being literal truth.
And that it looking at a person that believes in the same God as the Christian God. Looking from the perspective of one that believes in a completely different god may still feel that theirs is the "true God", speaks (and is) absolute truth, and yet doesn't believe in the Christian Bible nor in Christ.

I believe in God, Jesus & Christ.
-
I believe in GOD, without him we would not have JESUS. So yes I believe in both.

Anyone who gives even a cursitory reading of the Old Testament can see clearly the multitude of prophesies that Jesus Christ fulfilled. So it is virtually impossible to believe in the God of the OT and not believe in Jesus Christ, who was clearly prophesied about in the OT.
-
How could you believe in God and not believe in the son? Since in the beginning God talk about his son Jesus. In the book of Genesis, before God created man, He said " Let us create man to our resemblance and to our likeness". Who do you think that God was referring to when he said " let us". who is us. He was talking to his son Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was always there with the father in heaven in spirit.

I believe in both God and his son.

I believe in the Father God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I accepted Christ as my Savior as a young child, more than 60 years ago. As I grew up, I would question the Bible, not so much because I didn't believe it but because I wanted to learn the truth. I would hear so many different interpretations of Scripture. But I have never found in all my studies anything that would deter me from believing in God and his Son, Jesus Christ. If you are a Christian and have a thorough understanding of the Bible (or as close as possible), you would see why there has to be all three. I also know that non-believers are hard to convert because they believe what they want to believe so that they can be the center of their own universe. That is why I do not consider myself a "Bible-thumper" or a religious nut. I will share my faith if anyone asks or if I feel someone is ready to hear it. I will write about it or talk to fellow believers. (Missions to other countries is another story. People in this country have been exposed to Christianity in one form or another since this country was settled by the early settlers, but people in some countries have never heard of God.). Therefore, I don't believe it arguing with a non-believer till I am blue in the face because it will not change them. They have already made up their minds. I am reminded of an old story I read many years ago. A young boy was helping an old lady across the street. She was impressed and asked him if he was a Boy Scout. He replied, "No, ma'am, I'm a Christian."

I don't believe in God and I don't understand how anyone can. I'm more logical like the character Bones.

I believe in both. Remember if there were no god we wouldn't be here.

I wholeheartedly believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I could never have gotten through half my life's experiences without.

Good point. I have not heard a lot of Christians say this. Some Christians feel like as a believer it is our duty to get as many people saved as possible. Personally, I will give my testimony if it comes up or if someone asks, I've learned not to debate what i believe or what I believe the bible to say. And to answer the question I was always taught there is only one way to the Father (God) and that is through Christ Jesus, so yes I believe in Jesus. When I meet people who don't believe in Jesus, that's fine for them, it's their choice.

I don't believe in God or Jesus. Thank You!
-
I believe in G-d but not Jesus. The Jews believe he was born a Jew and died a Jew but not in the `Masia' (or however you spell it.)
-
Take your debates and freedoms of religeons......
WHILE giving the prophecy about the sign of his presence and of the conclusion of the system of things, Jesus said: “Just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be.” (Matthew 24:3, 37) Clearly, Jesus foretold that what is happening in our day has a parallel in Noah’s time. A reliable and accurate account of the events of Noah’s day can prove to be an invaluable treasure.

I believe in a higher power but I am not Christian and I don't believe in the bible.
-
I have to answer no. No one can prove god exists. Until I die I cannot believe. Maybe I will find out after.
-
I am a Christian so I believe in God and Jesus. Hope everyone has a good day.

The Bible tells us to make disciples of the nations. In John 4 Jesus is a beautiful example of an evangelist. He initiates the conversation with a Samaritan woman and that's most often the case - you have to initiate. This Samaritan was ignorant and uneducated and thought she worshiped God. Jesus said to her, "you worship what you do not know." Anyone who believes in God but not Christ is going to be eternally damned. Does the Bible not teach us to consider others as more important than ourselves? Our hearts should break for the unsaved.
If you knew about the terrorist attacks on 9-11-11 a week before they happened would you have warned people? To spare their life?
If we believe Hell to be the real place that it is, we should warn people. We need to spread the gospel which is the only thing that saves; not my testimony, not your testimony.
We shouldn't desire for others salvation for their sake or our own - we should desire salvation for others so God gets the glory, the praise, the worship that He rightfully deserves.
-
For me God and Jesus is one unit. I can't see the difference.

No one can prove evolution, either. It's a theory.
The universe declares Gods majesty. Look around you - God has more than enough evidence of Himself in creation itself so that all are without excuse. The fool says in his heart their is no God. People don't come to Christ because they love their sin.
God loved us so much that He gave the One He loved the most to die for our sins. Christ humbly laid down His innocent life - He died so we could live. He took the punishment we rightfully deserve - people don't go to Hell because of the sins they commit - they go because they failed to ask for and receive the free gift that is available to all.
Dedicate your life; give your heart to Christ.

I believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I was raised in the Christian church and I have not departed from it. Not blindly, however. I've had my questions over the years.
-
I have a son and if I had to say, "son, I need you to to be beaten, bruised, and crucified for the world.." I couldn't do it. That's my baby, I love my kids abundantly. This is what the Lord did for us - sinners - completely unworthy and undeserving but He did.
Pure and unconditional love displayed on the cross.
-
Jesus is God. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the Holy Trinity. All for one and one for all!
-
You cannot believe in one and not the other, Jesus is the son of God so as the Bible states
"If you believe in God, believe also in me". (Jesus said that)
-
I agree, you cant believe in one and not the other, God, Jesus and the holy spirit are all one in the same sort of
-
I believe both.
-
I believe in both God and Jesus.
-
I believe The Father, The Spirit, and The Holy Ghost. I hope God AND Jesus accepts me when my time comes to cross over.
-
No I definitely believe in both God and Jesus. My faith in the existence of both is what keeps me going every day through all of life's trials.
-
I don't believe in anything anymore. There is a price that other people have to pay when you believe in something. Think about. >:(
