What is it to make you move forward and be calm?
-
That depends on if you are talking about when you are angry.. Or if you are actally talking about nerves in your body that cause pain...
If you are talking about houw you calm your nerves when you are angry... Then i simply leave... I find that is a more peaceful way of calming my nerve than just letting the fight continue or whatever is making me mad continue..I also write my feelings on a piece of paper and then toss it to the trash when i'm done.. I have done this a long time because it has helped some of my frustrations.. There are some times i like to shower when im angry or sad.. It helpes me feel better.. Sometimes it even works when i am sick.. I do just about anything to get away from my current situation that is upsetting or to get my mind off of it... A nice drive around town is good also.. Sight seeing.. Anything you can think of you name it! Remember calm is a state of mind not action... You can also do yoga.. or even meditate.. Sometimes that calms your nerves as well as the next thing.. I guess it would depend on the person and how they usually calm their nerves..
If you are talking about how to calm the nerves in your body due to pain.. Well massages help.. Hot water can help... Lavender oil can help.. Unkers can help.. As long as you know the pain will not cease altogether.. But it will take some of it away.. Also A few Braces for support in the effected areas could help because i have found out that pressure is a good thing when it coes to nerves.. If all else fails a doctor is a wise decision.. :)

i was thinking to calm down when i really need to relax, spend time with myself and try to NOT EXIST...and i can't....i am always doing something... ::)

I have had a lot of stress and anxiety in my life especially the last year and a half since my husband died. I pray a lot and just try to stay busy and keep my mind occupied by watching something or messing around on the computer. It isn't easy to get rid of nerves/nervousness.

When confrontation starts with others, remember this proverb....
An answer when mild turns away rage.
Reading the bible and saying a heartfelt prayer to God in Jesus name is good to do.If we pray in a way thats acceptable to God He can give us power beyond what is normal.
And remember another scripture......love covers a multitude of sins.

I find the best way to calm myself down when stressed or agitated is to go running for a couple miles or so. That always works.

Classical music or chew some gums can help relax and calm people down

I think calming your nerves is a process that starts long before you find yourself in a potentially stressful situation. Getting enough sleep (hard for most people to do these days!), regular meditation (even 15 minutes a day can be helpful), and eating a reasonable diet are important for me. Then, when stressful situations arise I am more likely to handle them in ways that deescalate the stress rather than escalating the stress.

I have an interesting view on being calm, and that is first to think about why you aren't "calm". Many are quick to place blame on external things, but external things can't "make" us feel a certain way, we have to let ourselves be bothered by it.
I'm talking on an emotional level though. Things like hot weather, well we deal with that by going somewhere cooler.

Getting some exercise in and breathing slowly.

Sometimes it is prayer. You talk to that inner self. You convince yourself to be calm with soothing words and strength outside of yourself. You would be surprised how much the Holy Spirit speaks to you. Listening seems to be the problem. Take a deep breath and believe. Then step out with a leap of faith.

sleep.

Ways I calm my nerves are Valium, distracting activities, writing, a glass of wine, good music. Sometimes talking to a friend helps or maybe reading something.

Depends why I'm agitated to begin with.
If I'm angry - I clean. I organize. I sort. I label things. Just work off the steam.
If I'm nervous but it's more to do with worry or sad or something more emotional like that - I write.
I write poetry and I'll often just close my eyes and write and see what comes out the other end. Sometimes I surprise myself by getting to the heart of what's bugging me that way.

I like to take a hot bath.

I always take a walk to calm my self down from whatever. Walking is very soothing and it does the body good.

Ever since I retired the only thing that calms me down is playing games usually on facebook. And I also take meds and they help sometimes but the games work better plus I went back to smoking. If I don't play games everything bothers me including when the phone rings. I just can't stand when the phone rings. I also enjoy cooking especially when it is a meal that takes a long time. I even enjoy washing dishes although I have a dishwasher that I just use once a month when I am really busy.

After the grandkids go home at the end of a VERY Long day I take a few deep, calming breaths, pour me a glass of wine and sit down to relax. Sometimes even that doesn't calm me down lol.
-
I take a shot of whiskey and have a cigarette lol
-
I try to take a time out. Take deep breaths and think of things that allow me to calm myself.

I calm my nerves by listening to music, exercising, taking a walk, or just reading a book. And sometimes a hot bath will calm my nerves also so that I can relax
