Post by: babyturtles23 on September 03, 2014, 11:36:13 am
Has anybody ever heard of this event or gone to it? I really want to go!! I'm trying to make some extra cash on here for this.

No, I haven't heard about it but it sounds fun. I wonder if it's kept more towards the traditional rockabilly (esp. considering all of the Elvis impersonators there), or if it also includes some of the sub-genres like psychobilly (which is a blend of rockabilly and punk rock, so has a frenzied pace). "Galaxy 500" by Reverend Horton Heat perfectly shows this sub-genre as it starts a little slower like a classic rockabilly song but quickly gets more frenzied pace (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb_juTPQJUc (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb_juTPQJUc)) A few years ago I got to see Reverend Horton Heat in concert at Prince's 1st Ave in Minneapolis, and it was a great show. At that concert, one of the other bands, Th' Legendary Shack Shakers, also gave a great performance and since then I've bought a few of their CDs too.

I love rockabilly! I also love the Reverend Horton Heat. I am headed to Riot Fest in Denver next week and have started downloading some of the albums to my IPhone. Friday night will be Slayer, Primus and Gogol Bordello.  Saturday will be Social Distortion, Plague Vendor and die Antewood. Sunday will be Wu Tang Clan, 30h3, the Cure and all three days will have at least fifteen other bands to watch. I have VIP passes so I will be right in the pit and I got the pass for free...can it get any better? I am just hoping that the weather is good and I can hold my own for twelve hours a day. Not sure if I should take off on that Monday.
