Title: Texas Ebola Patient Dies
Post by: sherryinutah on October 08, 2014, 11:06:26 am
Before today, ebola patients in the US have recovered; however, the disease was fatal for the patient being treated in Dallas, Texas.

What are your thoughts about this?

I refuse to live in fear of anything.  I choose to have faith that I and my loved ones are protected and I also understand that there may be certain things I have no control over.

Are you concerned about the possibility that you or someone you love could be exposed?

I'm with you, fear just brings more of what you don't want.  My brother's a nurse and he's not worried because it's very hard to contract.  Dr Oz also dispelled fear of catching it.  We'll be fine. Don't let the news broadcasts' sensasionalizm wind you up.  :peace:

I can't help but be concerned, it is a scary thing. I hope it doesn't become a broader situation. :(

I'm so sorry to hear that, I wish the drugs could have saved his life.....hopefully we want have to see such an epidemic like the one they are having right now, so far no one else here seems to be infected.....hopefully they will do more to help those people who are suffering right now with this disease.....

That sad he died. Some people believe he purposely lied about being exposed to an ebola patient in Africa. He says he was only carrying a pregnant woman who was sick and didn't know she had ebola. Who knows the real truth.  :(

It is a shame that he had to come to U.S. to die.

I heard something about that he came to this country to see his son he hadn't seen in years but there was either a devious/selfish or ignorant/naïve underlying issue with him.

It is good that Ebola is not easy to contract since it is not airborne, but it does show its lethal nature, even in our healthcare system.  That part is worrisome.

I hope they truly are taking special precautions with people who are planning to travel to/from areas where there may be this problem, but the ease of international travel these days does not make me feel especially safe.

However, I think we have greater fears with ISIS and the rest of the extremist lunatics who are located throughout the Middle East, even misguided or crazed people here in our own country.  I feel sorry for those Moslems who just want to carry on a normal life with their families and children.  It goes to show that the extremists don't care about their own people if you don't believe as they do, much like the Inquisition from centuries ago or even sometimes now days with certain sects/cults.

I think that our state has done well so far on keeping it from spreading. Ijust people who have been in Africa were more considerate of others. If you were where there were people with the disease, get tested somehow before you carry it to some other country and give it to others. That is how epidemics are started. A few careless people.

It is scary but you have to go on and pray it doesn't spread here.  You can't live every day in fear.

First, I don't think this had anything to do with faith.  But that is beside the point.

The others, we knew they were infected with Ebola before the plane landed.  This guy knew he had it but he did not tell anyone.  If he had not lied at the airport he would not have been allowed to board the plane.  Even when he went to the ER he did not tell them he had been exposed to Ebola.  Personally, I think he is pretty sorry because he has exposed a lot of people.  Honestly, I think it is only a matter of time til we have an epidemic here.  I wish there was a way to make money from home because honestly it terrifies me to have to work and deal with the public.  People are stupid and rude.  If they are sick they won't stay home.  And when they go out in public the cough and sneeze all over the place.  Very few cover their mouth.  And if they cover their mouth with their hand and then touch stuff they might as well not covered it.

It is not very hard to catch.  And Dr Oz is an idiot.  If it was so hard to catch then there would not be an epidemic.  It can be transmitted thru sweat.  If it was so hard to catch the people treating the ones who have it would not be bundled up like they are.  You would not have to be in an isolated area and then the area burned if you die.

No, I am not worried about it wiping out the US but I don't want to be around anyone who has it.  And no, I don't get all my info from the media, not the government.  But the fact is if people keep coming here from the areas where thousands are dying from this disease then yes we can have a problem here.  Mostly because like I already said, people are stupid and rude and if they are sick they don't care if they make someone else sick.

I tend to agree more with countrygirl12.  This guy knew he was exposed and lied about it at his airport of origin.  He knowingly brought it with him.  If this administration would step up and PROTECT the American people like they're supposed to, he wouldn't have been able to enter the country (just like all the illegals freely waltzing through the border).  Personally, I think it's time the government gets off their duffs and begins protecting the border once again (but Obama has his OWN agenda concerning immigration), and that the U.S. stops all flights coming from or going to the countries that are infected with Ebola.

Not really sure why we are still allowing direct flights from Liberia to the United States.
