I visit social media sites but I don't put a lot of my personal business on them, I see a lot of people do. Do you put your personal business on social media sites?
-
nope, what is my business stays with me,my business is no body else business and that is how i stay out of trouble.
-
No, I never put anything personal on social media.
-
No, I like to keep my personal business my own.
-
I think social media is the devil. I recently started a facebook account simply because I am monetizing it. I use it to earn money and that is it. All business on there.
-
Oh goodness, no! The only social media that I have is Facebook and Twitter...and that is only to see how my friends are doing. I rarely, if ever, place my personal business on these websites. Considering the possibility of hacking (and other incidents that these websites pose), it would be lunacy to share my personal business on such a 'public' forum.
-
No, personal business should stay personal.
-
Not really cause it's to easy to hack your information now a days
-
Keep your life private. At least, that is what I do. I agree that there are "many hackers out there selling your private information and causing all types of problems".
-
I go on facebook every day, several times a day. I do not post personal information on there. I do occasionally post pictures.

Do people shop online? Do you use a credit card either in a store or online? Do you access bank account online? It seems to me that these activities are far more prone to "identity theft" than social media accounts. I don't have a business but if I did I would use social media to promote it.

I agree.

Contact info, birthday, family, and some basic stuff, but nothing super personal like address, etc that could cause me problems if hacked....I think most people keep a lot of information private...probably too much so in fact
-
I'm pretty careful. Even if I post something personal I usually go back and delete it because I like my privacy. I also don't like people asking me a lot of personal questions, on social media sites, or in person.

I only go and look at my grandbabies there.
-
I will put general information on there, like if I go out with friends or share something I saw on YouTube that I liked, but nothing so personal that some hacker / stalker could take the information and set up accounts without me knowing about it. I also try to increase my privacy in the settings of my accounts (esp. FB since they like to share with the entire world every little thing you do on there unless you go into the settings and make it more private).
-
No, I don't put personal info up on my Facebook or Twitter. I use it mostly to stay in touch with friends. I don't really post much on my page.

It's ironic in a way that social sharing sites are more risky ways to socialize and share than just visiting someone in person. A tool that is supposed to make it easier to connect with friends and family actually strongly deters doing just that because of privacy breaches. On the plus side, I think that has encouraged me to reach out to people more instead of just posting information for them.
