Title: Pumpkin Carvings
Post by: demaina on October 29, 2014, 05:12:44 pm
I love caring my pumpkin.  One of these days I'm going to go high tech though and get a drill or something to make my job easier, cause I hate when you get most of the design done but one slightly too hard push and you just decapitated the mummy you were working on.

Do you carve a pumpkin, and if so, what's your pattern for this year?  Do you use anything to assist your carving?

I love carving pumpkins. I use to do really awesome designs but due to arthritis can't do them anymore.

I haven't carved in years and years, but I have a friend who asked for ideas for pumpkin decorations for I guess a photography class or contest she's doing. So I browsed online to get the creative juices flowing and found a super cute pumpkin made to look like the Cookie Monster!!! Would love to do that. Someone had done Bert and Ernie as well. :) :pumpkin:

My sister did a Hello Kitty carving last night. It looks ok, nothing worth sharing tho.  ;)

We just use the normal pumpkin carving utensils - the little serrated knife, pumpkin scooper, etc...

You can always find designs online. That's where my sis found the Hello Kitty one.  :pumpkin:  :pumpkin:  :pumpkin:

Hello Kitty is a great idea too. I think I'm going to do a Google search on that....

I don't personally carve any pumpkins but, my daughter does an AWESOME job!  This year, she carved Dracula with bats flying around him.  Last year, she carved Walter White (the character from "Breaking Bad"), Jack Skellington, and a Day of the Dead Sugar Skull.

I just painted my pumpkin this year. Carving is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Pumkin  carving is fun it gives you a chance to be creative for a day that only happens once a year

I would really love to cut designs into pumpkins but I just don't have the funds to spare. I've never really had much opportunity to make jack-o-lanterns growing up and I thought that would change by adulthood but unfortunately it just hasn't worked out. Painting pumpkins is cool too though because they last the entire month so the few times I got to do that it was neat, even though I really wanted to cut them up and put a candle in them instead.

Only had time to do one this year. Work and the kids school tend to get in the way, but next year I'm going to make more time to carve more for my daughter and teach her how to do it!

I didn't carve a pumpkin this year, but painted one instead. My husband did though, and it was "cannibal pumpkin", a big scary pumpkin eating a small pumpkin!
