Hi, I'll be a new mommy really soon! My due date is New Years Day. I'm really excited. Anyone have any tips I could use. 😊😃

Congratulations! Don't be scared, things will fall into place. Just use common sense and best wishes. Things will be fine, when I had my first I didn't know exactly what to do, but somehow it comes naturally. Let us know when you have your bundle of joy!!

Thanksso much Nancy! Yea, the closer I get the more pre mom jitters I get :) but I'm still so excited!

I remember the first time I held a baby, it was my own at 36! I had very little experience with young children so don't worry, you learn as you go along. I remember being very scared to change my son's diaper in the first 3 days because I was worried I might accidentally break a leg, but really, babies are very resilient! If there was one bit of advice I could give it would be to expect that parenting is not all plain sailing. Both my children slept pretty much the whole time for the first 2 weeks and then after that, I really got an eye opening. It seems every evening they were unhappy between about 6pm and 9pm. I don't know what it was but I found it very frustrating that I could never calm them down or make them happy. Now I realize that most all babies do that - I mean, have an unhappy time. It wasn't a failing on my part. It seems during the day when they cry it's because they need something.... feeding, a diaper change, a cuddle, some entertainment... but in the early evening, nothing makes them happy. Just accept it. You'll be great!

i agree with nancy and others the main thing you need is your love and understanding being a parents is a greatest joy sure you will make mistakes but you will do good

I think this is a topic people could go on and on about! There is such a learning curve when it comes to parenting. Some of the best advice can be found in development textbooks, but here is a quick and easy link that breaks tips down by age:

Just have everything ready for when you return home with your newborn son or daughter. Get as much rest as possible. The next big burst of energy you get will probably be right before you go into labor. New Years Day! VERY COOL! My son was born on Christmas Eve! I can feel your excitement and it's just great! I wish you and your new babe all the best! Love that baby with all that you are because the miracle of LIFE is God's greatest gift! You're opening a whole new chapter in your book of life and it's the greatest chapter of all. Oh, the fun and joy you're going to have with every new milestone your baby will reach. First smile, rolling over, first teeth, first words, first steps, time will fly. Enjoy every, single, minute of it! There'll be times when you're tired and may feel frustrated. Always remember to have patience and love in your heart for your baby. He or she is your greatest accomplishment - a "mini-me!" Congratulations to you and yours and God bless!

Just trust yourself. And don't let others convince you out of things you want. It's your kid. Just cause someone may disagree with how you are handling things doesn't mean it's wrong.
