Title: renters insurance
Post by: Gerianne on December 10, 2014, 06:55:56 am
A lot of people don't bother with getting renters insurance.
There was a fire in our building a few years ago from a woman who was smoking in her apartment. She put the cigarette in her trash can thinking it was put out. It wasn't and her apartment sprinklers went off. Meanwhile, the four apartments under hers were damaged.  In Florida, here, we have hurricanes and tropical storms. The building I live in is 5 stories and I am on the first floor. I bought renters insurance this year and it is transferable to other states. I am glad I did.
GIECO offers renters insurance. I  am also glad that I didn't talk to the Allstate insurance rep and waited because I got a good deal with a GIECO affiliate company.

My daughter has renter's insurance at my insisting.  She lives in Lexington, KY and there has been a lot of burglaries there lately.  I told her I wasn't replacing everything that I have given her to fill her apartment up if it is stolen and/or destroyed by fire.

Buying insurance, any type, is no warranty the claims will be paid. Denial of claim is what happens most of the times!

I have renters insurance. I hope I never have to "USE" it, or file a claim, but the place I rent from REQUIRES it.

Thank you for the information. I live in a condo and I sometimes wonder if I should put Renters Insurance.

Where did you come with this theory? It couldn't be further from the truth.
