Looking to expand my horizons! I usually tend to just "stick with what I like" when it comes to the occasional glass of wine, but im looking venture out and find others i like. Im more of a white wine person, but I will drink red wine if were at a party or something. Whats your favorite type of wine that you like?

I haven't found a red wine that I like, probably because they're supposed to be served warm, I like moscato, or white zinfandel

My favorites are Chardonnay and Moscato. I prefer the white wines; well chilled! :P

I like a nice dry sparkling wine...or a glass of Chardonnay. My parents always served Mogan David on holidays. Its the sweetest red wine ever. In keeping with tradition, I still serve it at Christmas.
Some people actually like it.

I actually have grown to like reds more than whites... Too often, white wines tend to be too sweet for me and/or have a lot of acid giving me heartburn if I drink too much. If I had to go with a white, I'd go with something that had a goor fruit flavor but wasn't too sweet, so like most Rieslings and some Moscatos although they tend to be too sweet. I really dislike most Sauvignon Blancs in that with their grapefruit / grassy flavor, they tend to be too acidic.
I do like more reds, however. Again, I tend to like the reds that have a deep fruity flavor as opposed to those that are musty or spicy. Cabernets are probably my favorite, esp. those that have a rich cherry and/or plum flavor. A close second might be Malbecs. Merlots and Pinot Noirs are also good, usually having a good fruit flavor, although their fruit is more like berries than the darker fruits. Syrahs can be a little too dry for my taste, although old-vine wines (including Syrahs) usually aren't too terrible. And Zinfandels (esp. the old-vine varietals) also have a good, fruity flavor.
If you like white wines because they tend to be sweeter than reds, you might enjoy varietals from Northern states' grapes. Grapes like Concord (used to make Mogen David) from NY or Frontenac grapes in MN tend to make sweeter red wines. Blushes / Rose wines are also making a comeback tending to be a good transition wine from whites to reds.

At Thanksgiving I tried a couple of different flavors of arbor mist wine which I had never tried usually stick to Chianti or Lambrusco but the arbor mist flavors turned out to be really tasty.
