Title: Warm clothing
Post by: melodylogan45 on February 13, 2015, 04:27:12 am
When it is freezing cold outside like it is today, here in Michigan 1 degree, do
you wear gloves, scraf and a hat or just throw on a coat and go about your
business.

Well if you are going to be outside for more than a couple of minutes then really bundle up.  Here in VA is -5 degrees with windshield and it is definitely very very cold

I hate being cold so I usually put on warm clothes.  Gloves are irritating though but I usually wear them any way.

Since I have dogs outside in kennels as well as some in a kennel house that has heat but not like the house, I definitely do wear gloves along with a heavy coat.  Water buckets and bowls must be changed when it is below freezing and I am outside for up to 2 hours in the morning and up to 1 hour in the late afternoon.  It's going down to zero here for the next few days so I will probably wear thermal underwear also then.

I can't relate - it is warm here in FL.  It's actually cooler than normal, but not mitten or scarf weather :in-love:

I went out today and walked about 2 1/2 miles. I wore a heavy down coat, a scarf, mittens and a hat with earflaps. After I got used to the bitter cold, it was quite enjoyable.

Altho I don't live in your state, I dress really warm and I try to stay outside less as possible.

What I do is bundle up in my warmest PJs with coffee or hot chocolate and sit and watch old movies by the fire.

I love wearing Cuddle Duds underwear. They are thin and lightweight and keep me so warm.

If it's below 50 degrees or so, I will wear a coat and gloves and sometimes earmuffs. I don't wear a hat because they mess up the hair so badly, silly vain girl that I am.

I would, however, wear a hat as well if I were going sledding or something like that.  :snowman: That requires extra protection.

I have fibromyalgia and really cannot stand the cold. I almost always have a sweater on inside.  When I have to go out in the cold, I am bundled....hat coat, scarf, gloves or mittens, and ear muffs.  But I prefer to stay in when its cold.

I dress in layers, even though we live in the high dessert here in n.m. it can be darn cold in the mornings and by late afternoon it can be up in the 70's. Go figure. Monday I heading out to go to the doctor am going a day early as they are predicting snow and I do not want to be caught in it trying to go Tuesday for my appointment. Am hopeing we don't get snowed in. It is not the town so much as having to go over the pass and then another part which really gets hit. Better safe then sorry. I wouldn't even go but it is so hard to get an appointment with the specialist.

Well I don't like wearing coats and hats but when it is cold I wear a sweatshirt, a coat, a scarf, and a hat. I like the warmth it gives me so I can do what I need to do when I go out. When I was young I used to just wear a coat or jacket but since I have aged that is not enough.

I constantly ride my motorcycle in the cold to and from work.  The last couple days it was around 10 degrees when I left not counting wind chill :o  I bundle up really good with sweatpants, work pants, then snow pants, shirt, 2 or 3 sweat shirts, my winter coat, really good gloves, and a scarf.  I just wear sneakers and sox since my feet don't really get too cold.  It takes me a few minutes to get ready for work and get undressed when I get there, I can't wait until it gets warmer.  Of course I have a helmet on, hey people ride snowmobiles in the cold don't they :)

The only time I wear the whole gear (Winter coat, scarf, gloves, hat, etc..) is when I have to snow blow or shovel, other than that I usually only go from my house to my truck that is already pre-warmed and I only wear a scarf and sweater. And it's been in the negatives here in Jersey! Brrr.... stay warm people! :)

It's so very cold here as well!  Last week I had to dig through some storage bins and hunt for some
thicker more winter type weather.  I have usually just been layering! lol  But now gotta pull out the big guns!

I make sure I put on some warm clothes with some knee high boots and bundle up with a hat, scarf, mittens, and a coat; I don't want to catch a cold. And when it is cool outside instead of freezing cold I will wear some light warm clothes and a jacket.

Yes, when it's freezing cold here in Tennessee, I wear so many layers to go outside, I look like Ralphie's little brother in "A Christmas Story!"  It feels frigid to me when it's just in the 30's.  When I have to drive somewhere, I always have enough warm clothes with me that if I become stranded, I won't freeze!

When cold outside, I do wear a warm layed clothing including a warm coat. I also wear something to cover my head and sometimes a scarf. I do have gloves, but I hardly wear them as I hate them. I usually just tuck them in my jacket or in my pocket and just deal with the cold if I need to touch something.

Fortunately, I live in Texas where it doesn't get bitterly cold like up north.  So usually a heavy coat is enough to keep me warm.  Sometimes I'll wear a cap to protect my ears from the cold as my ears are sensitive and I don't want to get an earache.  I never wear a scarf and the last time I wore gloves was many, many years ago when we had a little snow.

Gloves are a must. If I am going to be outside for any length of time then a hat is a must, too.

I park in a garage at home, I drive to work, I park in a garage at work, walk through a tunnel (really) to get to my office. I don't have to ever actually go outside. I still wear a coat though.

It depends on how long I plan to be in the cold. I usually give my thermals for my husband to wear to work if it gets too cold.

Cold weather can make sick...very sick! Use hand warmers inside your gloves and coat pockets. Use foot warmers inside your boots. Wear wool if you are not allergic. Use snow parkas and gear to keep you warm.

I live in Tennessee and am a greeter at walmart.   Standing up there in the cold in the winter time is awful.  I nearly freeze.  I have my coat, scarf and gloves on and still get cold.  So glad when spring and summer get here.

With these terrible conditions I always go with a heavy down-filled coat, a hat with ear flaps, heavy lined gloves and a nice scarf. But when I go running, after about a half hour I ditch the gloves and hat and have to open up the coat, I get so warm even in this terrible cold.

Warm clothes are fine but I have being bundled up to where I cannot move. That's why I don't dress great for the weather. And that is also why I prefer the warmer weather.
