Title: airbag and injury
Post by: Gerianne on February 13, 2015, 07:01:37 am
my neighbor was in a car accident - someone ran into her. Her airbag deployed and she got injured. I have heard a number of times of people getting injured from the airbag, the item that is suppose to  save a person. She is an elderly person, so the healing will take some time.

I don't like airbags for that reason.  I have heard of many people being hurt by them.  I do wish the government would let me decide what I want.

lol.  That's funny.  You are lucky they have not come up with a device to monitor how much oxygen you consume and have something that cuts you off after you have your fair share.

I agree that over all air bags do save lives.  Just like seat belts save lives.  But people say "it's my choice".  Yes, it is.  But if you make that choice then if you are injured in an accident you should not be able to sue the insurance company or other driver if your choice was to not wear the seat belt.  I also understand people have been hurt by air bags and also seat belts.  Those saved out weigh those hurt.

I do think the government is trying to control way too much of our lives but at the same time some of the things that people complain about are really a good thing.

I think the airbags are just to cushion the blow (for example windshield or glass breaking).. It may hurt but then again the impact or whiplash can hurt even more... Recently modern cars have on/off airbags depending on the people there... For instance they have weight detectors in the seat and if there is no pressure/weight, the airbags will not deploy in the passenger seat... Only the driver (since he/she is sitting on it)

My daughter was in a car accident and her airbag deployed.  She didn't get seriously hurt, but was bruised from the seat belt and airbag.

yes, it does happen. But what about the alternative. I would rather not go through the windshield. High impact will jar you and perhaps whiplash. But usually no broken bones or lacerations. It is the lesser of 2 evils. BMaston12

I do not like airbags either because they can kill me!

My husband was also injured by an airbag that deployed during a fender bender.
