Title: Recycling
Post by: jstout1 on April 15, 2015, 04:08:37 pm
Do you recycle?  I recycle for money like aluminum and metals.  I also recycle plastic shopping bags for trash can liners.  I also recycle old t-shirts for rags.

Oh yeah, all the time.  I use the store plastic bags for trash, I keep any cans  the big ones  and put my transplanted plants in them getting them bigger for my garden, pieces of hose for plant supports old tee shirts for cleaning and grease rags. If you really think about things we recycle a lot. I use old news papers to start my wood stove.

I recycle as much as I can like newapapers, metal cans, cardboard, glass. When I recycle I find that I have very little trash to throw away. I aways bring back the plasic bottle and soda cans for redemtion. I wish that our state bottle bill included all beverage bottles and cans. Many bottled watercompanies  arn't included in the law. If they all were I think it would make a big difference in the land fills. :rainbow: :rainbow: :rose: :peace:

I am a big fan of recycling and I think everybody should if they can!  We need to take more pride in helping our environment thrive rather than hurting the earth!

I wish we had started recycling decades ago. I reuse my shopping bags for bin liners, I reuse water bottles (I refill them with boiled, cooled water), I reuse my plant bot holders, my empty cleaning containers and rather than throw away toys which my kids don't use anymore, I give them away to charities.

I love recycling and do it every chance I get.  I have been recycling aluminum cans since I was seventeen (I am now fifty two) and reinvested every cent made-I have averaged about a penny a can.  I have increased my aluminum can recycling goals in order to pay for the gas in my scooter (which get one hundred and eighty five miles to the tank.  I recycle all of our grocery bags when cleaning up doggy doo or putting a liner in my office waste basket. I have been drinking water out of an aluminum water bottle that I got five years ago and figure that I am saving about a dollar fifty a day by not buying bottled water.  I always break down all of our bulky trash items so as to leave a smaller carbon print on our ecology.

I do recycled a lot of card board boxes. Sometimes I get some extra change from it and sometimes when it's too full at the recycling place when I go there then I just take them straight to their bin area where you just drop and leave. But I don't get very much from it.

I hardly recycle. I think it is annoying. I cannot stand having different bags for different things. I through everything out in a black bag.

I do as much as I can, but really is not much.  We have a recycle bin and a trash can, but I have no space in the kitchen to put the recycle bin, so I recycle the big stuff like cans, juice box (the big ones) or juice containers (like Apple) and boxes but not little things or bottles of water to much for me.  I want to do better but not much patience on my part and my family.

I recycle cans and bottles that have a deposit on them. I used to be very active at collecting them from the sides of the roads, but that past year I slacked off, because I haven't been feeling well. I really need to get outside more, so I think I'll try to do more can collecting this year.

Decades ago they did a lot more recycling than we do now.  You got your milk delivered, you returned the glass bottles so that they could sanitize and refill.  The same with soda pop.  I don't have a lot of room in my kitchen, so i put all the recycle items in a tray and sort in the evening when I clean up the kitchen after dinner.  As long as I do it daily I don't have a problem with it.  We have a garbage can for the city, yard can and a recycle can.  If I can turn it in and sell I do, but some of the things are just not worth the gas to go recycle.  So I put those in for the city, a lot of people do this because they talk a lot in this area about how much less is going into the land fills.

My city just went to city wide recycling. We got a single trashcan and are supposed to sort, but doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I prefer the bins system.

I never really used to recycle. But with things being financially tight for me lately, I have resorted to visiting the local Walmart Recycling Center. I never realized how much money I'm actually throwing away every month! Egads!

We separate out what is recyclable and it goes into a different bin at the "convenience center"  (basically county dumpsters but you have to be a resident, they will charge people who dont recycle).  They use to have different containers for cans, glass, paper etc, dont get why they changed it!

I read in the morning paper that it is getting expensive to recycle glass.
Maybe more individuals will take up the task. I went to Poland for a couple years and saw a recycle operation in a friend's backyard. It was her uncle's idea.

I used to recycle plastic/glass/aluminium bottles cans in a recycler back in middle school for money. Now they don't have it anymore (at least to my location) and I just put my recycle products in a recycle bin.

For several years that is how we survived by recycling for money not just aluminum cans but appliances and you name it picked up by the side of the road which supplemented my disability and enabled my two sons and I to make it.  Although at times even at that it was hard.  We had something happen that has enabled us not to have to do that now but we did it for a very long time and appreciated what we found.

I recycle as many things as I can and don't even get money for it.  I also hate when things aren't recycled at work like white paper from bad copies or when I see an aluminum can in the regular trash.  People who don't at least try and recycle when they can just don't care and/or are lazy :bad:

I like recycling. I don't like to waste my dollar and I try to recycly things as much as I can. I buy clothes from thrift stores rather then expensive stores. I like to recylcle anythubg from zip lock bags to bottles and cans and if clothes are too small or too big on me I use the material either for rags or use the material to sew up a dress for my niece. Recycling is a good thing and it is very much respected in my family.

Although I agree with recycling, I think it is getting out of hand. Here in NYC soon we will have to separate our food from regular garbage. Compost they call it now. The problem I have is that they recycle less than 5 percent of all the garbage they collect here. So I say why bother.

I recycle plastic bags by using them to line my smaller trash cans in the bathrooms.  And, if my husband gets more than a few metal items he will haul them to sell.  Our city runs a recycle truck every Wednesday but I've never gotten the plastic tub to put the recycle items in.

I started recycling about 3 years ago for Earth Day and fortunately, continued it.  I recycle mostly plastics.

I stopped recycling as much for a while because we have small bins here and the neighbor's cat would drag the items out of it.  When the neighbor moved I picked it back up. I'm moving in June and I have a recycling bin that looks like a trash can, so that's really convenient.

I was just about to ask if anyone gets paid for it.  I remember researching ways to make money a while ago and saw recycling on the list.  They don't pay for it where I currently live but hopefully when I move I can get paid- every little bit helps : ) I'll still recycle even if they don't pay though.
