Yesterday I parked my car in front of our house, on the road. At dinner time, I heard an almighty crash outside our house so I ran out the front to see if somebody needed help. I was annoyed to see that someone had rammed my car 8 feet forward smashing the rear light, denting the bodywork and busting the bumper and goodness only knows about the unseen damage. I saw a truck disappearing round the corner and made a mental note of the color. I ran across the road to speak to my neighbor who also heard the crash, but didn't see anything, and then a military guy on a motorbike stopped to see if he could help. I explained that a truck heading south had rammed my car and he swiftly turned around to see if he could catch the guy. I ran in to call 911 and the operator said "Yes we already have that call". I couldn't believe it. How had somebody called already. The military man on the motorbike came back a few minutes later to say he couldn't find the guy but I thanked him for trying. Later the police arrived and took details and I found out from him that there was a guy following this truck who saw what happened. He called the police and followed the truck until the police arrived. They caught the guy. Later in the evening, the guy who had witnessed the incident, called the police and followed the truck came to knock on my door. I was so grateful for his swift action because without it, I'm sure the police would not have caught the guy. And to the military man, again, thank you for helping a stranger! Two heros in my book.

What a wonderful story, it just goes to show that there are good people in the world. It's a shame that we only hear about the bad ones.

It is refreshing to know there are good people in this world. All we hear about are the bad ones :confused1:

Everybody has a cell phone and people love to call 911 on them. It's not surprising that someone saw the accident or that they called 911 or even followed the driver that hit your car. Do you know if the guy that hit your car had any insurance?
-
Too bad more people don't take the time to call 911. Luckily that IDIOT was taken off the road, most likely he did not have insurance, or lots of priors...there had to be some reason he took off instead of staying at the scene. Both gentlemen desire praise for what they did.

that is totally awesome that he was in the right place at the right time!

As many of you have asked quite rightly, no, he didn't have insurance.

That's an awesome story and I'm really glad for you that they caught the guy who did the damage. Hit and Run is a serious offense. Makes me wonder if whoever did that to your car has done it before. It seems like there's more and more hit and runs because people don't have insurance or a license. Luck was on your side with the two gentlemen who did all they could to help you. It restores your faith in the human race, doesn't it?

NO insurance????
I suggest you introduce him to Fusion Cash!!

There are so many good people in the world, but sadly the news media will hardly talk about them it seems that only the bad is reported. I guess that is what makes their ratings. But I for one would love to see the good people complimented on also. If everyone would do 1 good deed a day what a difference this world would be.

I disagree. A lot less people need to call 911. People abuse 911 and for the most part don't seem to realize silly crap like not getting pickles on your burger is not an emergency. People also act like 5 year olds and get mad because the car in front of them is driving slower that they want to go so they call 911 and report something stupid and totally false. Also have heard multiple times where some idiot ex gets mad and tries to get the other person in trouble by calling 911 and making false statements, saying they are driving drunk, etc.

Because THAT is what people want to hear and read. Just look at the negative stories on yahoo. You can tell by the title it is negative and it will have millions of hits. And thousands to millions of comments. If NOBODY clicked on the links that lead to the negative stuff they might not report it as often. Then you have what you know is a good story and just a handful of people click on that article. People like the drama and negative stuff.

It is so reassuring to know there are still good Samaritans out there in the world. I hope everything works out well for you for this situation.

That's fantastic, there are so few good samaritans around anymore that its really heartening to hear stories like this! I hope the guy had good insurance for you!!! :rainbow:

This is the America that I left the Islands of Samoa to come to. The love and respect and not to forget the great deeds rendered to a total stranger. My grandpa called it Tender Mercy. I love your story. God bless those great people that came to your aid.

I agree, there are still good people in the world, we all can play a part in making this world a better place; sometimes it just takes concern for our fellow neighbor, kuddos to the person who called 911!!

It is definitely good to hear that people get involved to help another person. Too often you hear about people who won't get involved in many bad situations...domestic violence, even rape and murder. The involvement of one can become the POWER of many if people will ACT TOGETHER!!!!!!!!

I LOVE reading these stories, on here or other places. So nice to hear about the kindness of strangers. Maybe we should start a thread for "kindness of stranger" stories. A bright spot in anyone's day to read.
Thanks for sharing!!!!
