Most reasons I've heard about why people don`t like to live with in the city, because they don`t like crowded neighborhood. They want to have a privacy.

I hate living in a city. I've been going up to a campground in New Hampshire every couple of months and the difference is just amazing. It's so quiet, peaceful, you can actually see the stars at night. Nobody bothers you. No car horns or blasting music. It's where I'd eventually like to live one day.
-
The pace of living is generally slower. Not as much traffic and bustle.
-
I live in the suburbs of a major city, but it's like day and night. We have little noise here, watch the deer and wild turkeys in our backyard. Everyone has 1 to 2 acres so you are not real close to your neighbors, but close enough to the city if you need something.

I live in a small town of 4000, and live just outside the city, so takes me about a 3 miles to drive to the grocery store, nice quiet neighborhood, but I do miss the bigger areas, around here about 6pm all the stores are closed, noone on the streets, the grocery store and gas stations are open tho

Gardening is something I cannot lose so I will never live downtown.

People like to live out of the city probably because they don't like the annoyance of a large populated area. Dealing with traffic jams, crowded restaurants, and just people in general
For people who like to live in the city probably likes to have connections or a better chance of a career. The more people the better chance of socializing and also landing a good job

Definitely too many people, traffic, and noise.
-
The worst thing is definitely traffic.
-
often cheaper, more acreage, less taxes, etc... just depends. I will say that the commute from living "out of the city" is awful if you work in the city!
-
Just a better place to raise a family.
-
The country is great. It is quiet. Life is much simpler. The cost of living is less expensive as well.
-
i like to visit the city every once a while but not crazy about living there. my major reasons are noise crowds and traffic. Ineed my space and room to enjoy the out doors in peace :rainbow: :rainbow: :rose:

i would live in the city. i used to work in New York City and i liked the atmosphere. you are close to everywhere.
-
I like a small place less noise and people. And no worries about gangs.
-
I would say the top reasons are traffic, cost of living, and crime rate. Ironically, some people love the fast paced living and couldn't fathom living in a small town. To each his own, as long as you're happy.

I too prefer towns. I just bought a house in a larger city but it's temporary; I hope to be able to buy my next home in about 3 years and I want that home to be back in a smaller pace town. I'm comfortable with living in the city for now because I need to be closer to opportunity and to position myself to use more resources.
I like a small place less noise and people. And no worries about gangs.
-
That's definitely a good reason, considering all the craziness in the news these days.
Just a better place to raise a family.

cities are too crowded and too much crime.

:) I live in a small town of 1500 people. Love it. No traffic, no hustle bustle, just laid back peace and quiet. :)
-
I like the extra space.
-
I hate the sound of constant traffic and so would not like to live in a city. However, it is fun to live in a suburb when you can go to the city for culture and shows, and then leave. It is nice to have a big enough yard to have a nice garden in and enough space between houses so that you don't ever hear your neighbors.
-
I love livin in the rural area because of the peace and quite and its just like your in your on little world
-
You got it! Overcrowding, too much crime and pollution are the culprits!
-
I believe that mostly why people like to live outside the city is because it is more quieter to live rather then in a big busy city. You know where everything is and you are use to same people you see on a daily bases. This might not e force very one but asfor me i prefer living outside the city and small cities. I can't do big cities. I already had my share of living in a big city and it is overwhelming and stressful for my taste. I like quiter places and live in peace....

I sometimes miss living in the country, but since I have moved and we live in a small town it is not too bad, if I want to be in the country for awhile I go out to my dads or my brothers. But then I get out there and there are weeds every where, I am glad to go back to the house. always makes me remember why I am not living in the country. Besides there is no way I am going to get back on a tractor.

Many like the less noise and no close neighbors. I liked having space. I also liked having more wild to enjoy. The city does limit your view of the night sky too. Less lights and more stars. I could go on and on. The biggest drawback is no close work. BMaston12

I've lived in two major cities. In general I do not like city living.
-
City living is not for everyone. .. I for one can't stand big cities. I love being surrounded by trees and seeing the stars every night.
-
I can navigate well within the city and like visiting it but I cannot see myself living within all that hustle and bustle.
-
I would like to live out in the country but I have family that live 30 minutes from town. It's bad when you need something. If I didn't have to work and didn't have anywhere to go and could just hang out at home I would like that though. I don't like loud noisy neighbors either.
-
the city is rambuncious and loud, the country is more quieted and you can think and relax
-
Privacy, away from all the noise, traffic, sirens and loud music.
-
More relaxation outside of the city peace an quiet
-
Too many crimes in the city. Too much noise. And the city is over crowded. The air quality is poor.
