My intentions when I go to bed is to get a good nights sleep. BUT, I will lay there for an hr just thinking of what is, what was and what will be ugh. Do you do the same?

99% of the time I go to bed at 10pm and within 10 minutes, I'll be asleep. My brain switches off really quickly. Sometimes I switch the local news on so that I can watch the weather which starts at 10.10pm. However, I usually end up waking up at 11pm and have missed the weather and news entirely! On the odd occasion however, when I am worried or stressed about something, I will lay awake for a while mulling things over. It's the same if I wake up during the night. If I'm not worried about anything, I'll go back to sleep straight away. If I am, I could lay awake for an hour or two.

I try to tire myself out at the end of the day so I when I go to bed I just pass out.
-
no i usually lay there for a long time thinking before i finally drift off.
-
Try melatonin, it will knock you out real fast
-
no!! i can be dead tired and lay down to go to sleep and bang! i am wide awake and my mind is going 90 miles a minute--so i lay there rubbing my Katie Sues belly (furbaby) till she goes to sleep then i can calm down and go to sleep

There are nights that I wake up and can not go back to sleep. I think of many things, but none of them help me get back to sleep. The TV seems to help. Maybe it is because it causes you to loose that concentration on getting to sleep. Reading helps me fall asleep too. None of them work all the time. I do hate not getting my rest. BMaston12

Lately I've been working so hard I just curl up with my kitty and I'm out. Sometimes I read until I start falling asleep. However sometimes I'm like you an have thoughts running in my head. My solution for that is the Bach Flower remedy White Chestnut. Within minutes your mind will quiet down and you can get to sleep. It's a natural herb remedy available at your local natural grocer or herb store. You can use it any time of day and it last a long time since you only need two drops at a time. :peace:

There are times I have an awful time getting to sleep. So many things are running through my head . Then when I just start to really get to sleep hubby is up and roaming around, lights go on in another room and so does the TV, even though he turns it down low I still hear it. Because low for him is what I prefer it too be. He is hard of hearing. Right now he has an awful summer cold and of course he coughs a lot. I sometimes do not know why I even go to bed. But once I finally get to sleep I sleep so hard that I never move and then am stiff when I wake up.
-
I hope not! If it did I would be dead, lol.
-
:) If I am on the computer too late at night my brain keeps working and consequently I don't fall asleep. :)
-
My brain is constantly going. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I'm usually awake for 11/2 to 2 hours. Just can't quit thinking.
-
No I will be tired until I get into bed then I think of anything in the world.
-
i rehash the entire day its awful i wish i could go right to sleep
-
this is a big problem with me. there will be months where i can easily slip into sleep however like this past week i have just lane there and tossed and turned until i just went ahead and got up and started doing some more work online.
-
It all depends on how exhausted I am and how much work I have done during the day. If I'm totally pooped I immediately fall asleep, if not I think of all of the things on my to do list for the following day before falling asleep. ;)
-
No my brain works 24/7. I am always thinking. I even had an erotic, well, not really, a sort of sexy dream last night. So, my brain is moving along just fine.
-
I have the same problem, so tired that I can barely keep my eyes open, the minute my head hits the pillow, my eyes pop open and i start thinking about the list of things I need to do the next day.
-
That happens to me alot, it becomes irritating when I am really tired.
-
I go to bed late so I can fall asleep but lately itis not working takese a while till I fall asleep
-
I go through this often. I don't know what to do about it.
-
Sometimes when I go to bed, my brain does not want to shut off. So, I watch some TV programs
-
no it does not that's why i have insommia i wish it would but mine is really bad and i take medicine but it does not work
-
Yes I haven't had a good night sleep in years, when I lay down I just think about everything that's going on and when I do get to sleep I wake up and can't get back to sleep.
-
My brain never shuts down so I have to take melatonin to fall asleep.
-
Let's hope none of your brains ever shut down. Then you're like dead.
Your brain solves problems while your asleep. It does things it cannot do while awake. I think that is fascinating, mind boggling and wonderful. :star:
I solve the thinking at night thing by listening to audio tapes that are telling stories. Puts me right out. Just a thought. Get it?
-
I haven't had trouble sleeping lately, but I know what you mean. Typically the warm weather makes me sleepy,so I get tired quicker.
-
sometimes it doesn't. usually when my brain doesn't shut off, that's when i can't sleep. it's because there's so much things happening in my mind that my brain is focused on trying to figure out what to do. lol! i need to figure out how to relax my mind so my brain can rest. lol!
-
My boyfriend and my kids can attest to this. I can shut my brain off and fall asleep within a minute of hitting the pillow. I am not sure how I just stop thinking and then I fall asleep. Though it wasn't always that easy..guess it comes with age. :-)
-
Ha ha ha...if only it were that easy right?
Usually my brain goes on for a bit until I finally get too exhausted to think anymore
-
Lol I do not know
-
Yes my brain does that and I just can't sleep. I started using sleep aids to help me get to sleep because of that.
-
What does that do with your brain shutting off? Such a ridiculously stated question which once again is not a subject, especially when it simply requires a yes or no answer. Maybe the pot smokers can enlighten you about how their brain shuts on and off loloololol :highfive: 8)
-
Only when I'm tire. Usually is it take me around 30 minutes.
-
Only depends on if something important is coming up!
-
I would think otherwise of the number of things I have to do and the stresses in my life that my brain would be going 1000s of miles per hour, but because I do tire myself out at the end of the day, I've been falling asleep easily. Once in a while I still get certain distractions that I can't sleep immediately, but that is becoming a bit more rare now.
-
I have the same issue. I lay down and then can't sleep.
-
If you try to get in the habit of taking 10 - 20 deep breaths. You know Inhale hold for 3 or 4 secs then exhale hold for 3 or 4 secs. I usually fall asleep without even trying; but it takes a few weeks to get in the habit. And your thoughts that are running around and around seem to disappear.
-
I try to think about the same thing every night when I go to bed and it helps. I think I have trained myself to go to sleep.
-
There are days that when my head touches the pillow, then I dozed off right away. But sometimes when I'm stressed out about something, no matter what I do, even if take melatonin, still couldn't sleep... :(
-
Yes, when I'm in deep sleep.
-
Not at all, it's actually the opposite, I start thinking about all the things I have to do the next day.
-
I am lucky to fall asleep really quick but I have very vivid dreams.
-
I usually can fall asleep right away but sometimes I am still thinking about the day
-
Some days I keep thinking about all the problems and I don't feel like sleeping. Other days, I am so tired, that I sleep and get up late!
-
wwwwwmy brain does not shut off when I go to bed.
-
No, I usually read in bed until I get sleepy. But if I've had a bad day and was tired, I then shut down to sleep right away.
-
Yes in fact I have something the neurologist I see for sleep apnea said causes my brain to be overactive even when I am actually asleep. Wonderful causes my brain to think I'm awake even when I'm not - don't even remember what it is called but that is on top of all the thinking I do BEFORE I can go to sleep. Oh well !! :moon: :star:
-
YES! All the time.
-
no,,i think it speeds up!!!!!!
