Title: Which do you prefer, Macaroni or Potato Salad?

Post by: vickysue on July 14, 2015, 01:48:06 pm: I like potato, and when I make it I usually will put celery, onions, once in a while carrots shredded, sweet pickle relish, the add a small amount of mayo and yellow mustard. family likes it so I guess it is pretty good. I like cold salds in the summer time. and hot soups in the winter.

Give me potato salad. I prefer mayo over mustard. I also like the loaded baked potato. Bacon and cheese. Yum Yum! BMaston12

I found a great recipe somewhere on line in which, in addition to the usual potato salad ingredients, this person also added celery, olives and boiled eggs. I tried the recipe out and it was so tasty! It also looked very attractive. I decided to try it out at a potluck dinner and it was gone before I had the chance to take any! Bitter and sweet!

She would put tons of sliced green olives it and mix the mayo with a bit of "juice" from the olives to thin the mayo somewhat plus add more flavor. She also put diced hard boiled eggs in both salads.

I don't make either since hubs won't eat cold pasta in any way, shape or form :sad1: and he'll only eat potato salad if there's no eggs and the dressing is more of a German bacon dressing that I make for dandelion salad but it's too sweet for me, so now I buy from the deli for him. ;)

Everyone in my family love's my homemade potato salad and constantly asks for more. But I can do so much. It takes me almost 3 hours to make homemade potato salad and depending how many people there are to feed. :party: I use red potatoes in which makes the potato salad taste's even better. :thumbsup: Many asked me for the my recipe, But that's a "no,no" that's my little secret. Lol. ;)

I haven't found one at any store or restaurant that I like. I don't want any onion added ore celery.
My husband and I both love the way I make it.

My mother in law, however, chops up the pickles in her potato salad so fine that I can't taste them. Usually she will even make me a small batch without any pickles and add extra black olives for me.
I'm so spoiled!

I've been planning on making potato salad and I've cooked the potatoes twice now but after while they go bad in the refrigerator so I've not been able to make it yet. I finally bought some yesterday but it's not nearly as good as homemade.

I used to make it for summer barbecues all the time, but over the years I stopped, because my family didn't care much for it. I have been craving it lately, so might make a small batch for myself one of these days. Bj's carries a tasty one also.
