how delinquent does ex have to be to get enforcement punishment? and he lives in Louisiana... I'm in Texas.
-
He is not suppose to be delinquent at all. I would go down to the child welfare office and have them help you file a claim to garnish his wages for child support. Don't mess around with him or you may never get any. There are so many dead beat men out there. they may have fathered a child but a real father supports his child.
-
I agree with vickysue. Also report him as a deadbeat parent. Here where I live, they put any parent that is delinquent in the newspaper and go after the individual.
-
While I agree the child support should be paid I disagree with calling a man you do not even know a deadbeat. Honestly I don't agree with a man having to pay child support and not being able to see the kids but 2 days a month. Every other weekend for a day and a half. If there are reasons such as abuse then I can see that. But most times there are not. It's just the mother gets custody and the father gets a couple of days a month. That's not right.

get it court ordered

LOL. I live in Colorado, my ex is in Texas. He owes back support in excess of 50k and I doubt I will ever see it... so I guess my answers is this. Both states knows he owes. Both states know where he lives and where he works. Neither state will enforce.
-
Here in California there is a law that if he does not pay his child support he will go to jail and lose his driving privileges no matter where he is. The child born here in Cali the state will find him and get them payments. As to the person with the visitation comment >>>>No matter of visitation rights or not the father should pay his share of the care for the child and should want to, it is called being responsible for your child. Why do think it is called child support, because the absent parent should help support!

Is it right for an idiot to continue having "visitation rights" who put his kids & mother through so much? if a parent is in another state, and not paying childsupport...common sense tells you something is wrong there. Hello?!

it is up to you to enforce thats why...duh...

my question is how does it work... with punishment? there is a probation period and jail time if the dad is behind a few payments...right?

You missed the point. People on here and other like sites that make random comments call a man a dead beat when they do not even know the situation. No, "common sense" doesn't tell me anything. We have ONE side of the story here. There are two sides to everything. If a couple gets divorced because the woman cheats on him and takes him to court and gets child support, the house and everything else, and lies and keeps him from getting more than a couple of days a month visitation then no he should not have to pay child support. The same if she immediately shacks up with another man, lies saying how she is a single parent when another man lives there paying the bills, but she lies to get government money.
The real problem is people get married, get divorced, get married again, get divorced again, women have multiple kids with multiple men. The cycle goes on. People need to get married for the long haul. Know someone before you marry them. When things get tough work it out. I know men and women who have kids with 4 or 6 different partners. It's ridiculous. Yes, I think men should pay child support but I can see his side as well. A lot of men are taken for a ride and over half their pay check is given to the women to blow on drugs, new clothes for herself, cigarettes, and whatever else she wants. The money does not go for the kids.
A better option would be for the money to go into an account with an over see(er) not the mother, and that person can see the kid has clothes and other things they need. And the mother can use the government food stamps she gets to buy food.
Sounds harsh but I am to the point that I don't coddle people and I certainly don't feel sorry for people.

I have four children from my ex after 9 yrs we parted ways and he was ordered to pay child support, I never seen any money he would rather go back and front to jail then pay child support. he was never apart of their lives, his choice.
Now that my oldest is 27 yrs old my ex (kids father) finally got a job and now I'm receiving child support. My youngest so is 20 years old.
My ex hard the nerve to get in touch me to ask me to drop the child support, I told it was nice that he could find a way to get in touch with me after 27 years but never once got in touch with me while I was raising the children all by myself.
Of course I told him no.....What a loser!!

That's sad... But I can relate... People like that physically abandon their kids or emotionally abandon them with abusive behavior... Some parents endanger their kids and mold them with bad influence too... It is never good the way it affects the kids

You made those babies, so you will/should have to support them. There should be no question about support or visitation. It is really a shame that so many people have to use the children to get back at each other, the problems between them is not their fault. .

there is some truth here....people often are biased and can pass judgment without knowing all the details, etc...while divorce can be good in some cases, and there are times when child support is due...there are also times when a spouse takes advantage of the other to get the money...

I would contact the state agency that issued the child support order. In KY, payroll checks are garnished for child support payments. I have also heard of people's tax returns being garnished for back support.

I just want to know one thing how does putting the man in jail going to help you he still can't pay behind bars so it's basically a choice of doing it on your own or finding a responsible man that will help you no matter what
