I would like some simple feedback on some issues I have "witnessed" at work. Basically looking for yes or no answers. I work in a warehouse/distribution center for a big company that supplies tools, gloves, protective gear, etc. to industrial, construction, power companies, and the like. Many of the people have been there a long time and seem complacent about their job and don't seem to care about the customer and think that they can't be disciplined. The boss doesn't really care about many things as long as the job gets done at the end of the day even if the workers are running rampant doing what ever they feel like doing. He seems to have little control. He also seems to favor some over others no matter what they do. First of all do you think this is a good work environment to work in? I will give various scenarios and ask for your feedback. Scenario 1: When building or stacking on a skid would you use a broken skid or pallet to begin with, missing boards, cracked boards, nails sticking out?

It's not the most productive working environment to be working in....but it's a common one. I've had more than one job where there was people that did the jobs of 2-4 people while the others slacked & partied. Usually the slackers were the ones that got the best reviews & raises and were the mgrs faves, due to the fact they were also the snitches that let the mgr know what was going on. Managers aren't paid to care, only to get the job done. I've found the best thing to do is get a new job & try not to care so much.
I've had jobs that required building/loading pallets before, we never used a broken skid or pallet or ones with nails sticking out. They are an accident waiting to happen, a danger. They were stacked off away from the work area and every few hours or so, someone on a forklift would get them and take them to a back area for them to be removed from factory.

Sounds stressful.

I would say' no'. this is not a safe environment. Maybe the boss or the supervisor needs to be replaced. If he owns the company, it is a different story.

No, not safe at all! An accident is bown to happen. I suggest you report these incidents!

no iu agree with the others that this isn't a safe environment starting with broken pallets

Not safe. I have also worked at places where the supervisors seemed to not care a bit.
