I came across a new way to make peeling hard boiled eggs faster and easier.Put a slice of lemon in with the eggs before you boil them.Do like you always do with the eggs. And you will be surprised how it works.
-
Thanks for the tip. I always make about 2 dozen red beet eggs for Labor Day, this will make pealing them a whole lit easier.
-
I found the lemon trick last week and it works great. I have fresh eggs and they will never peel, Not a problem is time.
-
I will definitely try this out the next time I make some hard boiled eggs
-
relly ill have to try it out,,,,,,,,,,,,
-
I really find this hard to believe, but it's simple enough to do that I am going to give it a try TODAY!
-
That is interesting thanks for the tip.
-
I have got to try that when next I boil some eggs. Sounds like a good trick.
-
Thanks for sharing that, good to use when making a dish that calls for lots of eggs! I just run them under cold water, but will try your suggestion next time.
-
Once I have hard boiled eggs, I gently tap them all over and then I let them sit in cold water for a few minutes. Once the water has seeped through the cracked shells I slip a teaspoon under the shell whilst cold tap water rinses the egg, the shell usually comes away in one piece! Occasionally, if you only crack the shell and leave the membrane intact, the water doesn't seep right through to the egg and it makes peeling the egg a little more tricky. But this is quite rare. 99 times out of 100 it works perfectly!
-
Thanks for the info going to test it out sometime to see the results.
-
never heard of that...I always roll the egg on a counter then peel it...works really well 99% of the time.
-
That's interesting learn something new every day.
-
I loved boiled eggs.
-
well since I do hard boiled eggs at least once a week i will have to try the lemon thingy lol
I usually just boil them and rinse them in cool water as I peel them. I always find it easier to peel them while they are warm. they just seem to peel easier :)
-
Very interesting, I just roll it on the table and it peels very easy for me :), did you know you don't have to have the gas electric on the whole time boiling?...when it starts to boil put a lid on it for 10 minutes with the gas/electric off and after 10 min you have a good boiled egg and save on gas as well :)

What a great trick. I really don't like it when the shells peel off half o f the egg. Nice to know. I will try that one next time. BMaston12

I have did the lemon slices in the boiling water you can taste it in the eggs. I put a flavored tea bags in the boiling water. I put a lot of salt in the boiling water and you don't have to salt the eggs. And...don't throw away the water give the water to the plants after the water cools lol, makes for a good foot bath too. enjoy :cat:

Cool! Thanks for the tip. This will come in handy for Easter.

Thanks for the tip, I usually have two for breakfast

Hmm, I never heard of that before. I will definitely give that a try next time I boil some eggs. Thank you!!
-
This sounds interesting. There are so many ways that people say will help peel a boiled egg. I am willing to try anything that will help.
-
I saw an infomercial on doing the same thing, thereby helping to remove the shell easier.
-
Thanks that is cool - never heard of this one before. Dealing with hard boiled eggs can be so aggravating this would sure be worth a try. Thanks again.
-
Thanks for the tip, will have to try it next time I hard boil eggs.
-
hmmm...never tried that..will have to try this next time...thank you...will be sure to pass this along
-
:) Thanks for sharing. I'll be sure to fill my mom in as well. She makes deviled eggs (she's Christian so she calls them angel eggs haha) all the time.
-
Thank you , love eggs!!

I don't have a problem peeling hard boiled eggs. Bring them to a boil. Shut off the heat and leave covered for twenty minutes. Pour out hot water and rinse in cold water so you can handle them. Plunge them into cold water and put them in the fridge to cool. Then just peel away. Works for me.
No lemons were harmed in the making of this recipe.
-
I will try this thanks for the tip, my husband uses lemon for about everything under the sun, I am suprise he has not said anything on that one.
-
My trick is to run cold water over the eggs immediately after I finish boiling them. That seems to work great, for me.
-
Don't usually have a lemon, but a bottle of lemon juice. Wounder if that could work? Is the taste of the eggs affected?
-
Wow I gotta give that a try.
-
interesting, I normally put a dash of vinegar in the boiling water. What makes them easy to peel for me, is breaking the shell and membrane after they are done, and putting in cold water, the water seeps between the shell and membrane making them easy to peel
-
I hard boil my eggs by cooking it in salt water until boil (covered). After it boils, I wait 1 or 2 mins before I shut off the fire. Then I eave the eggs in the hot pot for 15 minutes to slow cook it.
Good method if your not in a rush.. The only problem I have is sometimes peeing off the egg shell could tear the egg whites
-
These are good tips, but it seems some have more luck with different methods. I have heard that if the eggs are too fresh, they are harder to peel.
Yo, Liquidfire_43, you probably should not be "peeing off the egg shell." That's just nasty. :-[
Remember to proofread before you post. No offense. I'm a perpetual proofreader and some misspellings are pretty funny. ;)
-
I think the quality of the egg matters when it comes to peeling them as well. When I buy the cheap ones I have a harder time. There is more of a film and it causes a lot of tearing of the egg.
-
I have been craving egg salad and so I am going to try this today. When I go to the store (hopefully when it stops raining) I am going to buy some lemon. Have been wanting some for iced tea anyway so I'll let you know how the egg tip works out for me. Thanks !
-
Wow! did know about that thanks for the information
-
Yes I really like hard boiled eggs I eat about 3 a week.
-
Cool tip, can't wait to try it.
-
I do run my eggs under water when I take them off the stove but I will have to try that lemon trick!
-
Going to be trying that next time I make some eggs
-
that sounds like a good way to help peal them.
-
I've never heard of this...
Typically I bring a pot of water (with eggs in the water of course) to a boil, and then remove the eggs from the heat and let them sit in the hot water for 10-15 minutes.
I haven't had much trouble with that technique.
