Title: barking dogs
Post by: Gerianne on September 26, 2015, 07:08:13 am
in my hall of the apartment building, there are two neighbors with dogs who bark at movement going past their apartment doors. So, there is a chorus. First, the one across from me barks, then, a few minutes later the one down the hall barks.
Cats are a quieter breed. There are cat owners on the upper floors.

Dogs barking can be annoying but would not trade my dogs for a cat.

Dogs do bark and there is nothing you can do about it.  I have 5 and trust me, when one starts the other 4 have to chime in.

i just got new neighbors and they have two small yipping, barking dogs.  They said it was because they were new, they but them in the garage, then it just echoed...   hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.   They haven't moved in yet, not looking forward to it, but it is what it is...

I have to agree with you flyingmonkey.  It can be very annoying to hear barking.  The difference is where I live we all have 1 1/2 to 2 acres so when my dogs bark (and I don't allow it to continue) my neighbors can't really hear them.

If they haven't moved in but left the dogs in the garage, they don't have any business having dogs.  That's no way to treat them.

I think it's kind of annoying to hear them bark all the time.  My neighbor dog bark at everything he see.  Sometime it just a car pass by he bark also.

Dogs barking does not bother me.  A barking dog alerts the owner that someone or something is close to the home.

So I guess you have to teach your dogs how to tell time?  Or make sure no one messes around outside your home after 10? lol.  I would never live in a neighborhood with an association.  I own my home and no one is going to tell me what I can do on my own property.

Believe me I understand about barking dogs. My black lab doesn't like to be outside in the back yard any more because of the neighbors dog that moved in a year a ago. Angel used to spend all day in the yard and only come in when it was raining, cold or at night. Now she goes out to go to the bathroom, stays about ten minutes then wants back in.

Dogs bark because that's what they do. As long as they eventually stop. I had a dog who used bark when it thundered and lightening. It was very annoying to us and the neighbors. Unfortunately, we couldn't make her stop.

i have been dealing with my neighbors hound for years. They do nothing with him so he barks. Many people mistakenly think that dogs just bark, but that isn't true. dogs bark for a reason (neglect, patrol, etc.).

I agree with this statement. I have had dogs of my own and I wouldn't let them bark at just everything. They usually need attention or water or food or something.

Unfortunately, I don't like the sound of dogs barking all the time, and I always seem to have barking dogs around me no matter where I go. I have to drive out of my neighborhood just to take a peaceful walk.

The noisy dog is the bane of neighbors everywhere. Forget the crazy kid parties, and the motorcycles without a muffler; it is the barking dog that causes the majority of neighborhood arguments, and noise complaints.

Yeah and?  So what is the topic?  The barking dogs in your apartment?  All you did was state a fact that you have barking dogs in your apartment, there is no discussion ::)  That's like me saying pizza, in the subject line and saying I had it for dinner last night.  You people who don't comprehend simple things on here crack me up 8)

That's the main reason why I don't really care for the small dogs that tend to yip over everything. My dog (a terrier mix) is pretty good about being quiet. She'll bark if she sees someone coming towards the house, sees another dog (or animal) in the area, or is in trouble (eg she's wrapped her tie-down around a tree). But usually she'll quiet after awhile, esp. if I see what's up and tell her to sit (I've already trained her not to bark when I feeding her, so she now will rush to her food bowl and sit to quietly wait for me to fill her bowl, so I think she thinks "sit" means to not only sit but to be silent too).

I've found that smaller dogs tend to bark over any little thing, whereas larger breeds only bark when they're in trouble. Before my terrier, I once had a grand mastiff that I heard bark maybe less than half a dozen times. The one time was when the neighbor's little yipping thing was standing right at the yard's border, barking like crazy as my dog went about her business. Finally my dog had had enough and gave one mighty woof! After that, both dogs fell silent.

Dog parking does get annoying. My dog parks at every car or truck that drives by. So I know the feeling, but I would change it. My dog is my security blanket. If that's what you would call it.

Goodness, I can so understand your predicament. I have an older lady who lives next door to me and she travels quite extensively. Whenever she leaves home for a few days, she leaves her patio doors open by about 8 inches so that her two chihuahuas can come and go as they please. That, I don't have a problem with. However, this means that these two dogs can go outside any time of the night and usually, they are outside at night crying, whining and barking. Sadly, her patio doors are on the opposite side of the fence to my bedroom!

My dog is a barker. But not so much at noises outside or seeing people outside, more at me and my husband. She loves attention and if she isn't getting it when she wants it she will bark and bark. Shes spoiled rotton and its our fault. But shes my baby. Lol

Sometimes it's a good thing to have a barking dog! I love it when my dogs tell me that something is around.

We have a neighbor, three houses down, across the gully who has three dogs that yap for an hour at a time when they are let outside. these neighbors will let the dogs out at five in the morning and ten at night. Rude and irresponsible dog owners are the worst. I have two golden retrievers that can go in and out of our house whenever they like and are never on a leash. Our neighbor to the north has two huskies, to the south has a pointer and none of these dogs utter a sound-even with deer running around. These larger dogs have been trained, given attention, and are admonished when they bark. If you have little yappers, go outside when they are there, so they do not bark-or keep them in the house until you can take them for a walk.

My neighbor has 2 dogs that I really do not like.  All the constant barking and the morons allow it to happen.  Whatever happened to training your dogs not to bark so much. It jumps on my fence barking non stop.  The idiots think it's ok.
