Well, Gotham is back for a new season. SPOILERS
Bruce and Alfred got into the Batcave
James Frain is playing the season's new heavy, who has taken Jerome (Joker) and Barbara (Gordon's Ex) under his wing in an attempt to take over Gotham.
Jerome killed Commissioner Essen (I didn't see that coming!)
Selina is now working for Penguin
Edward is rapidly losing his sanity (eventually to become The Riddler)
Certainly a step up from last season.

Well thanks for the info. I do enjoy this show.

Jerome killed Commissioner Essen (I didn't see that coming!)
And then Jerome got killed himself... I REALLY didn't see that coming. I guess I assumed he was going to be the Joker... Perhaps he is the spark that gives the Joker his psychotic ideas.

Is he really dead? I doubt it. Stay tuned, same bat channel, same bat time. ;)

I love this show .. so glad it is back

Right?! I hope they don't use some gimmick to bring him back, but that's usually the trend with dramas that kill off "major" characters... I think that was why it was such a shocker when Ned was truly killed in GoT; it made the story that much more realistic if no one -- not even a major character -- was safe.

Really enjoy the show.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed that they killed off Jerome. :( That guy was one of the best live action Jokers. I don't see him coming back. The WB doesn't allow the same characters on TV at the same time as the movies (And Joker will be in the Suicide Squad movie next year)

I thought about checking it out but I would have to watch from the beginning.

I am wondering more and more whether Jerome was actually meant to be the Joker... Gotham is supposed to be the chronicles of a pre-Batman Gotham, so the stories are more about the back-story of the characters found in the comics. For example, Gerard Crane in Gotham was trying to induce fears in others using toxins / psychology. And in the comics, the Scarecrow aka Dr. Crane has the same MO. When I first watched the episode with Gerard Crane, I first thought that he was the same as the Scarecrow in the comics. But as I did a little more research (my Batman knowledge isn't completely perfect) I realized that that episode was probably much more meant as the back-story to the actual Scarecrow... In Gotham, Gerard Crane had a son who at the end of the episode, Gerard had inflicted his son with the same drugs in an effort to control his son's fears; however the "treatment" went wrong and the son now suffers from a Scarecrow phobia. This son's name is Jonathan Crane, which is the same as the alter-ego of Scarecrow in the comics. Thus I now believe that Gerard Crane was not supposed to be the Scarecrow but rather shows the origin of how his son will eventually take over that villainous role.
Likewise Jerome is probably not in fact the Joker, but is a pre-cursor to who will eventually become the Joker. Remember that Theo remarked on Jermone's laugh, which was shown as the trigger of insane acts of violence by several other people following Jerome's death. Thus I'm thinking that Gotham's Joker is probably someone that is trying to emulate Jerome, including his infectious laugh. Furthermore, Gotham has shown a Red Hood episode showing the exploits of the Red Hood Gang; at the end of the episode, all former members of the gang have been killed, but the hood itself was picked up by a young boy... In the comics, the Joker was originally one of the people to take up the Red Hood mantel; it was while making a heist at a chemical plant where he, while wearing the Red Hood, jumps into a vat of chemicals that leads to the Joker's deformities / coloration as he attempts to escape Batman. So I'm thinking that the Red Hood episode in Gotham was also meant to act as the back-story as to how whoever becomes the Joker originally started as Red Hood (as the boy that picked up the hood in the end of the episode).

I love how you know all the characters names. I enjoy the show.

I'm of the opinion that the Joker's origin should never be told, so in a sense, I'm alright with losing Jerome. But he made a really good Joker.
-
I was fine with Jerome biting the big one. The Joker's origin should be ambiguous, one of the great mysteries that should never be solved. That was screwed up when Wolverine finally got his official origin. I hope Joker's origin is never defined.

I need to see the last 2 episodes been busy on Mondays, I guess I will catch up this weekend but it sounds interesting, the only one I do not get is Barbara, I always though that Jim Gordon was married to Barbara, but I have to say the actress does I very good job. And I miss Fish

I had already heard (during season 1) that Fish was just a character made for the series, and didn't actually come out of the comics. Barbara, on the other hand, really stumped me... In the comics, Barbara was the ex of Gordon, but never actually became a villain. Not sure if they are trying to take her character and merge it with some other character from the comics, or she is more like Fish in that her character as presented in the show is just for the show itself, not based on any of the comics.

Show has been taking a dive since they killed Jerome, IMO. This week they killed Penguin's mom!!!! :sad1:

Yes this show is getting pretty darn great, haven't missed an episode yet!! Thanks DVR!

gotham is a pretty interesting show, it deals with other people that were in the city besides batman and robin, come on, how can you follow this crap, i barely even know the storyline of batman let alone his counter parts in the city.
-
I watched the show Gotham a couple of times and didn't like it.
-
Well, since I've re-capped all the mid season finals so far, I can't forget Gotham. Can't say that I'm pleased with how Gordon capped Galavan. He's supposed to be the only honest cop in Gotham! I liked the Bruce Wayne stuff though, and the way he and Selina pulled that clever ruse on Silver.
-
Have not watched it yet but plan to as more season or the end comes.
-
Gotham is back from it's mid season break, and while the show still has some....lacking elements....I must say I was impressed with the recent Mr Freeze arc they had. Also B.D. Wong has been very good as Batman's little known (but very old) villain, Hugo Strange.
-
Looks like Gotham is being renewed for it's third season.
I honestly wonder how long they can stretch this "pre-Batman" concept. They already had Bruce face his parents killer & take to the road-all before he's even 14!!!
-
Bruce's slow transformation into Batman is making the show right now. Gordon's descent into "not corruption but seems like it" isn't.
-
I don't watch bu my husband is really into it. He loves the show. I am not big into the genre.

Why do people feel the need to do spoilers? Why does anyone think someone watching the show would want spoilers? Why would someone who is not watching a particular show even care. Whatever as soon as I saw the word spoiler I clicked out of your post. :bad:

It's a common courtesy to tell people if you are going to discuss something that might spoil the plot for someone who hasn't seen a show/movie. Since you didn't read any further (and probably aren't reading this :P) I'd say the spoiler warning served it's purpose. I don't know why, but your "tone" seems to indicate that I was trying to ruin the experience for people, when the opposite is true.
