Title: Fibromyalgia and still having a life?!
Post by: y2kpeaches on November 28, 2015, 03:14:49 am
:highfive: I'd like to start a current and constant running post about persons living with and/or dealing with fibromyalgia daily.  I will come back at least weekly, if not sooner,  and see how its moving along.  I'd like to know how u feel,  how u deal with the 24/7 pain,  tell me its driving u crazy (I'd be disappointed if u didn't feel that way from time to time), what meds u take,  what vitamins/minerals,  what treatments. ..etc. ..I will share mine as well. It has only be 6 years but I can't remember the last day I woke pain free or lived a normal life,  with no constant pain I mean.  I have been on so many different meds and suppliments but have really found nothing constant since there seems to be changes daily.  Well enough of me on this post.  Ur turn 😆

I hope I added this topic/blog correctly!  😕 Of course its only been 1 day. Really though I would love to hear from all that live with fibromyalgia or u live with someone who does.
Today was an OK day for me,  I wasn't able to do much until late in the evening but I fixed supper for all (had to be creative too,  low on groceries until the 30th). Also had to wash 2 loads of Thanksgiving dishes since I guess everyone figured they didn't have to,  ugh.
I only took 2 aleve and 1 l-lysine. I'm only going to take 2 more aleve in a few moments since I can't seem to get to bed before 6 or 7 am.  I'm working on getting added to my son's military coverage and care since I'm unable to work on a constant. ...OK enough complaining. ..gotta change my phone battery.  Please someone comment so I know I'm not alone here ☺

I did try that for 2 weeks now but today I chose to try the day without it,  it seem to handle the pain better. I will try to go without it again today and see how it works. Thanks u so much for replying.

So it was my 2nd day without the turmeric and gluten and I felt no different.  I will try the rest of a 7 day period and then start them back.  I really want to see if it is helping me 😆 It was a hard day.  No sleep all last night,  up early to watch grand daughter,  did more dish and my poor daughter in law got a grip fest regarding the kids having no responsibilities but expecting to be owned the world. Yep I'm that kind of mom,  even if ur not my kiddo lol Its 1020 pm now, hope I can sleep tonight. A day in a fibromyalgia's life lol Hope everyone else is good! Or laughing at it as much as u can 😆

Still no turmeric and gluten and it has been the normal up and downs  with pain tolerance.  I can't wait to test my theory and see if it really does anything. The omega3 really did nothing for the pains of fibromyalgia but I was taking to help my cholesterol anyways so I didn't waste my much needed money.
I do know for a fact yoga and light exercise helps tremendously however u have to be careful of the amount,  it's better to do to little then to much cause that will leave u in so much pain for days and even more painful,  sleepless nights!

I've heard of some natural ways to help, homeopathic stuff but couldn't tell you what....look into it. I'm so sorry to hear!

Well I started my Turmeric Curcumin, 1000 mg, to see if I notice help with this awful feeling with FM. I have researched as much as I can do I taken after my evening meal, directions say with meat. I hope it's more protein since I prefer less meat products.  I also have restless nights and jerking pain. I'm hoping to start feeling some relief soon!

I'm sorry I intend to say no gluten.   Look and some Essential oils also for the pain.  You could also try the epsom salt  bath to help with the pain.

I appreciate any advise.  Everyone is different so some options to try are great to know. I haven't tried the essential oils,  something I will consider.
The hot/warm baths are good but it seems to be more torture getting in and out of the tub lol but I do love them 😆
Thanks again!

Have you ever heard of making sort of a like heating pad only out of rice and you can stick it in the microwave to warm it up and use it whenever you hurt? I believe you can even add essential oil to it but don't quote me on that.

I've heard of and made the heating pads but never thought to add essential oils. When I have more funds to work with I will try that.  I'm not big on heat on my sore spots, I normally opt for ice,  however when I can I'm going to try making a few large heating pads and pop them on several areas 😆
Thanks for bringing that to my attention.  I hate that I forget about some things since they didn't help the first time I tried it.

I'd like to know how your fibromyalgia started cause I have constant pain in my shoulders (sometimes both and sometimes only one) but my doctor says "there's nothing wrong" yet I don't have a day go by that I'm not in pain.  I also get pain in my knees and hands.

I have not been diagnosed with fibromyalgia but I have been diagnosed with chronic pain.  I seem to have most of the symptoms but I have so much orthopedic issues from childhood scoliosis that everything gets attributed to that but it doesn't matter which it is because I am in misery 24 hours per day.  I am going to therapy - rehabilitation right now and I hope no matter what it will help my mobility.

Thank u for commenting!
I hate that anyone would have to even deal with a minut of this.  I am glad ur actively doing something. I hope that someday a diagnosis for the cause is found to prevent it, since the medicines do very little.  I do so hate the pain of yoga but it does help. I wish the best and keep us updated on how therapy goes.

So dingy I am, last night I read more of the label for the Turmeric Curcumin I purchase and see I have not been taking enough!  I hope this is true because today I doubled it and hope to have some relief and it will help me get back into some activity...ie housework at least lol.  Many wishes for less pain to everyone out there!

Thanks for ur time, hope this helps.
Mine started in a very strange way,  from what I researched.
To start iI had carpal tunnel laser surgery on both wrist, cubital tunnel surgery on one elbow with a rotator tear on that shoulder (no surgery) back in the mid to late '90s. I thought I was just having more complications due to my job/work.
I also had a rash on the bottom of my foot (adventually spreading to the other and sparatically all over my body,  even a tiny, single bump came up in the palm of just one hand), where we should have no rashes.  My doctor tried a few things,  one being steroids. Ugh,  I put on 10 lbs in a month.  I didn't know they would make me want to eat everything in the house. I only heard it could make u sterile but at age 41-42 I wasn't worried about that.
Any who after no results my doctor referred me to a rheumatologist. After many test and and still lots of aches & pains in major joints all over my body along with a 24/7 steady nerve jerking/burning I was finally diagnosed. I fought it until I researched it and remembered my Mom dealing with a lot of the same symptoms before she past in '95. I was denied disability 2 times and need to apply again now that Social Security recognizes it as a disability since only 2011-2012'ish, of course after my denial.  Go figure.
It's a lot of work still ahead of me but being unable to keep a set schedule of sleep and energy. I do wish I had a guide to follow lol
Well that's the biggest jist of my story.  I hope it helps.
Please keep a daily diary and note anything going on to reveal all to ur doctor.  I have a hard time remembering everything so the diary helps. It might provide ur doctor with the full info to correctly diagnosis.  The big problem is its unknown how it comes to affect a person and there is no test,  just elilmination of other ailments, with test. The reason I fought it so hard.
Thanks for reading and posting!

Oh... I found that ice helps me. I haven't tried heat in a long time, didn't help as much as ice.  So if u don't see results with heat try an ice pack or two.
I just used a good sized one and moved it around after getting to cold lol But it worked some magic 😆

I'm sorry you have this condition.  I know some people have its symptoms more than others and it can come and go becoming more acute at times.  Although I don't have fibromyalgia, I have increasing osteoarthritis throughout my body so I know about moderate pain and stiffness.  I have it in my hands, knees, some in my hips and feet.  After I sit for a period of time or get up in the morning, I sometimes move like a little old lady 30 years older than what I am for a while.  I also have better days than others.

Don't quit exercising entirely.  Try mild, moderate movements.  Walk a little, use low weights (like maybe only 1 or 2 pounds).  Use a few repetitions, a little here and there throughout the day. It is true...if you don't use it, you lose it.  Joints become stiffer and muscles lose mass which only makes movement more difficult.  Easy does it, but don't give up on exercise entirely. Use a little heat before, a little ice afterward if necessary.  Heat brings blood to an area and gets it ready to move.  (I am a trained Occupational Therapist.)

You are right.  Sleep is important.  Sleep is healing.  Try to get 8 hours if you can.  Meditate, try music therapy, reading, aromatherapy, whatever relaxes you.

In my previous post about exercise, I forgot to tell you that if nothing else, engage in a stretching routine.  It is very important.

Fortunately this is not something I have to deal with.  I can't imagine how I would cope with the disease.

It has been 8 days since I started the 1000mg of Turmeric Curcumin. I'm not where I'm comfortable but I'm not at that point the pain is eating away at my sanity.  I guess falling into the financial problem and no health care has given me a chance that I have prayed and hoped for since I realized I couldn't stop this in my mind only.  That is a natural way of handling the pain without the scary prescribed drugs. Don't get me wrong I have still been taking Aleeve but most days I can deal with just 2 or 3 pills,  not the 4 a day and still feel I'm going crazy with the pain.  Yee haw.  Now to just sustain it when out and about.  I have to be able to work and care for myself so I will keep believing and waiting for that day  😆
I want to thank everyone for participating in this forum blog.  It gives me something to look forward to on the daily.
Also I hope for the day we can all have this peace in our mind and body!  ☺

I have not been diagnosed with fibromyalgia but it's a possibility I have it. I am now doing a gluten free diet which I started last week. Haven't seen much change, still have the same symptoms but not as severe. I know this is a painful disease and I hope you all find some type of relief!

Just as I think things are going as planned here I am again in another fine mess. Well time to crawl out again and find another path.  Someday I sure hope to find that place in life that will allow me to become a perfect fit.  Pain and all 😆 Blessings to all followed with strength to get us through the harsh times to allow us much more joy and appreciation for the good days!

Thanks for the info!  I have tried the vitamin B but found no relief.  I will try the thiamine with the B and alone to see if that can provide me with some relief. I know someday I will find a great medium. I have faith!  😆

Is there any yoga positions that would help? I ask since I have a belt I keep in bed with me and when my legs get crazy acting and chewing at my brain, of course when I'm lying still and trying my hardest to go to sleep, I stretch my legs one at a time with some yoga positions I have found that help. Of course I would recommend talking to your doctor first as I know my Mom had issues with her legs and we had to be careful. But I sure hope you find something to relieve that pain. I'm in tears at most times with mine and I wouldn't want to wish this on my enemies.

Well I've been out of the Turmeric Curcumin since January 14th, ordered more and some krill oil.  Can't wait to try them both!  I can say I notice a huge difference without the turmeric! Hope I can keep the funds coming in till I can get a job cuz I don't want to feel like this anymore.
This week I was so blessed to get a cold,  really here in Hawaii?  Is unspeakable lol I will keep everyone posted on the difference I feel with the items one received. I hope to bless someone with a working option 😆

Yee haw I got my stuff today so I took it right away.  Of course no real difference just yet.  I do hope it helps me tomorrow,  or today I should say,  my daughter in law is taking the kids to the beach and I told her I'd like to go.  I've been sick all week and I'm needing some good hot sunshine to kill off the remaining germs. The sand can take every bit of energy I own to walk through it and set things up once at a good spot. I can't wait though,  I've not been out since New Years eve and it makes me crazy to be surrounded by water and not be able to enjoy it as I'd like. I'm sending comforting vibes to all,  may the pain ease enough or more than to allow you to get a second wind to be prepared to carry on.

What seems to help one person, might not help another.  I was ready to quit my job this past week.   Had a fibro flareup,  the non-stop head-to-toe muscle/joint spasms were almost to much to take.  I just wanted to stay at home, under the heated blanket.

I remembered I had a bottle of fibro relief I hadn't tried yet in the kitchen cupboard.  I took one and by the time I got to work, the spasms stopped.  It's helped with about 50% of the pain/problems.  I still have my job thanks to this stuff and am ordering more so I don't run out.

If you haven't tried it, make sure to check with your doctor first. There are reviews listed on the site that you can check out.  It's inexpensive, which is nice.

I got it on-line at swansonvitamins, it's called "Fibromyalgia Relief" (in blue & white bottle) $4.99 for 100 tablets & dosage is 2-3 tablets a day.

Get on their email list and they are constantly having sales & deals.  (They have alot of vitamins, herbs, health products, even some food/beverage items which help make it easy to qualify for the free shipping on orders over $50.)
