I think DST is stupid. I started to hate it even more when Congress made it 4 weeks longer. Here's why I can't stand Daylight Saving Time:
1. It doesn't save energy.
2. It gives an unfair advantage to anyone who stays up late.
3. It screws up length of days. Every day should be 24 hours long. We don't need a 23-hour day to begin DST and then a 25-hour day to make up.
4. It steals an hour of sleep from people that should never be stolen.
5. Anybody who forgets to set his or her clock(s) ahead for DST and has a job on Sunday could wind up being 1 hour late for work.
Now tell me your opinion and explain why.
-
Well, what can I say? I love it! Where I live, it works for me.
-
The govt needs to leave time alone and let time take its course.
-
I am not a fan of time changing throughout the year. It throws me off and required adjustment. It is totally unnecessary in my opinion, and should be ended.

I have no problem with your logic, lol.

I absolutely agree with everything you said. No need for me to add anything...Fall Back is stupid as well.
-
I agree, leave the clocks alone! It's going to get light earlier during spring and summer and darker for fall and winter anyway with out playing stupid games with the clock. Now if we could turn the clocks back before our idiotic government was around to foul things up, I'd be all for that!
-
2. It gives an unfair advantage to anyone who stays up late.
Please do tell what advantage people who stay up late get with an extra hour of sunlight at night? Now explain how this unfair.
Unfair advantage
-
Yeah, it makes the summer days too long, hard to sleep. Leave time alone.
I am wiped out from a very long fun day with an old friend. I am glad it is dark, and going to bed early.
:rose:

Unfair advantage
The hour of daylight added to the night is the same hour of daylight taken away from the morning, and that forces early risers to have to wake up to a darker sky and possibly feel cranky as well. People I know of who like or love DST do not respect people who have to wake up early.
-
I like it when I spring forward. I have never liked when it gets dark early.

Not seeing how that translates to an advantage. I'm an early riser and like DST. I'd much rather have that extra hour of sunlight be in the evening when I'm not at work and can enjoy it.
-
not sure what the purpose is but I like if it would goback to April
-
I don't like DST either. I like this time we're setting the clocks but not during the fall. It's pretty ridiculous. John Oliver did a segment on DST on Last Week Tonight that I thought was interesting. It's probably up on youtube if anyone wants to watch it.

You're talking silly. You should enjoy daylight while at work so you don't think about stress and then unwind when it's darker.
-
My body can definitely feel a difference when we go to Daylight Saving Time. I always miss that extra hour and by the time my body adjust to Daylight Saving Time it's time to change back to regular time. I could do without the time change. :)

I was wondering the same thing...I don't see it as an advantage to night people at all, especially when you spring forward...everyone should enjoy the extra equally...and as stated above, I would rather have the light later in the day when I can enjoy it....

Not sure if I agree with these points...except for the last one, which I have definitely had happen before...the hour evens out, just maybe not when we want it....I can't comment on the energy part, though I would think it does help a little in that regard....
As someone who is involved with the sport of baseball, it's nice to have longer days in the afternoon/evening so that teams can play on fields without lights....therefore, even though I hate losing the hour, I like the spring because it means more light in the evening...on the contrary, as much as I like the extra hour, I dislike losing the evening hours...
regardless of whether we change the ties or not, the days are going to get shorter and longer...the DST process just expedites it...I actually wish they would start it a little earlier in the spring and maybe change it a little later in the winter...
In short, as much as losing/gaining the hour can be a little cumbersome, I understand why it's done.
-
It absolutely sucks because it means that I lose an hour of sleep. :-(
-
I like it, I like change so it doesn't bother me one bit
-
i dont like it,because i like the longer days...
-

That's because as I said, DST steals an hour of sleep from us.
-
When I lived in an area where it was prevalent, I thought it was ok because at least it didn't get dark as quickly but, now that I live in the Southwest where it doesn't apply, well I really don't care!!

No, you're talking silly. I enjoy daylight by actually going outside and doing stuff. I can't do that if I'm at work. I couldn't care less how it is outside when I'm at work.
-
hat it.
-
I don't like it. I think they should get rid of it.
-
Never been a big fan of DST.
-
I hate it, 'cause I have a hard time sleeping as it is. Now you're taking another hour from me! So if I can't fall asleep, and I'm only getting 7ish hours sleep, now I'm getting around 6!
-
like it when you get an extra hour of sleep but don't like losing an hour of sleep.
-
Since I don't go into work till 1 pm today it has not affected me. I wish they would leave it alone and keep it the same time all the time. Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe. :)
-
I wish we just had one year round time
-
I don't like it they should leave it alone
-
I don't like DST. They should do away with it and leave things the way the good Lord made it. :monkey:
-
I don't quite understand it no more. They are wanting to take it away. What was its purpose in the first place. Things are put for a reason.
-
I like when the days are shorter and it gets dark a 4 30 in the afternoon. I wish it was that way year around.
-
I love the longer days. I just don't like losing an extra hour of sleep.
-
I actually think that DST is completely opposite of what it should be... DST is to allow more daylight later in the day when more people are awake and active. However, they extend the daylight hours during the summer when the day already have more daylight hours; I'd rather that DST was during the Winter to save more daylight hours then so that I can enjoy a few hours of daylight after getting off of work. Right now, I drive home in the dark during the winter and can't get to sleep until the sun sets after 9pm in the summer; reverse the time changes and the sun sets at about 6pm and 7pm during the winter and summer months, respectively, making the daylight hours about the same during the entire year.
-
I don't especially like it. I run in the mornings and after having it be nice and light while I'm out I have to go back to it being dark... it is what it is and I don't get that worked up over it.
-
I think is stupid, a waste of sleep hours and I really do not believe it helps with saving energy anyways
-
Would be nice if they left the clock's the same, without spring/fall change's!
-

Exactly! Clocks are not toys!
-
I think Daylight Savings is stupid and they need to just stick with one time. A couple of states are trying to get rid of it and I hope eventually all states vote it out.
-
It never bothered me, I don't mind setting my clock forward & backward.
-

I just watched the John Oliver segment, so funny.
-
i'm not a big fan of daylight savings time. but the only thing i like about it is the extra day light.
-
I like it because it stays light later in the day. I don't really care about light in the morning. Although the first day where we lose the hour of sleep is very rough.
-
It is a disruption.
There is no reason for it anymore.
The government is the only one who wants it.
The sun is smart and knows what to do.
We are playing games with nature again.
We have bad habits that are polluting our earth as well.
-
I love Daylight Savings Time because it gives you plenty of time after work before it gets dark. You can then grill out on work days instead of just weekends.
-
I've found it to be one of the most inconvenient and unnecessary distraction ever thought of.
life would be so much better without it.
-
I think it is completely unnecessary and it causes a lot of problems. People can't get used to losing that time. It can really mess with your body and mind
-
I love love love daylight saving time! The longer daylight in the night makes me feel so much better. And i love it that its earlier now.I feel human again. Its when the clocks go back it kills me,the nights start so early then i get up too early and can barely stay awake after 8.I have SAD so i need as much daylight as possible.Im a much happy camper now!
-
I think that America should stick to only the DST in all states......
-
I don't have any problem at all. Just stick to the flow I guest :)
-
It always takes me a few days to get adjusted to the time changes but once I do I am fine.
-
Wish we could do without it. I hate it so much.
-
i do not like it ,,wish they would get rid f it............
-
I think it is absolutely dumb. It messes everything up, and nobody actually likes it at all.
-
I like it getting lighter later...but I'm not a fan of changing g the clocks...have a great April everyone.
-
I don't even give it a thought anymore. Arizona doesn't change the clocks.
-
Every since daylight savings time passed, the days are going slower and the night are going quicker! I HATE THAT!!! >:( >:( >:(
