Title: Outdoor Gardening
Post by: notriko_mu on April 14, 2016, 05:24:03 pm
Hi everyone,
I am getting ready to plant in our backyard garden, soon. Does anyone else do any outdoor gardening? We plant tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, kale and other greens, beans, herbs, and much more. Happy Spring!

I love flowers but I don't have a green thumb. I live in the northeast so we don't even start planting flowers till mid to end of may. Geraniums I can usually grow in a planter but that is about the best I can do. :rose: :rainbow: :peace:

I usually plant tomatoes, strawberries, mint and peppers every year. I tend to go for easy items.

Your garden sounds amazing! I planted flowers and keep up some bushes and plants year round. I have been thinking about starting a little vegetable and/or herb garden so maybe I will give it a go. Happy gardening!  :rose:

I just did some gardening with my children, I like to do it every year with them. Last year our plants were not very successful so I am hoping we do better this year. We planted some peppers, peas, flowers an avocado tree and I bought some herbs that we have not gotten to yet.

Yup i do. I just planted the sunflowers and more clover because it is food for bees and the birds. I found these speckled morning glory seeds, and they all sprouted the flowers are for me lol. All the early spring time plants here, they are already done/cut back. The I like squash plants and I grow Halloween pumpkins, give them away to my friends, they have grown with spells.

When I was able to work outside, I would plant tomatoes, cucumbers, squash and watermelon.  I can't work outside anymore and I miss the fresh vegetables.

Outdoor gardening is great. I like to eat fresh vegetable from my garden. No pesticides, herbacides or toxins.

We used to put an acre of ground in a garden raising corn, cukes 4 kinds of peppers, potatoes, onions, carrots, lettuce, spinach, brussel sprouts, cauliflower and broccoli, green beans, and 4 kinds of tomatoes.

LIttle by little, we shrank our garden as the kids moved out until now we only have a small raised garden with yellow beans, onions and tomatoes. We raise cukes and potatoes in containers and I had started a herb garden but can no longer do it because I can't kneel on the ground or even sit on those stools. I miss my herbs. I had planted sage, oregano, Italian parsley, dill, basil, and something else (forgot). Sage and oregano are perennials so they come up every year, but I can't get to them because of the uneven ground, so I watch them grow from a distance and wish. :(

My son put in raised beds at his place for me to garden. I live in an apt.

Grow tons of broccoli, t'amaters, peppers, eggplant, red cabbage, eggplant, herbs for cooking, zucchini and squash.

Love it, love it. I will take coffee and a muffin out with me sometimes, and just sit and relish the setting.

I love that everyone is sharing. Does anyone have a rain barrel? We have 1 and are going to set up 2 more this year off of the roof of our work shed.

i give up  :(  :bad:

The chipmunks and squirrels are impossible to manage where I live and they eat the blooms off of everything. I also have a shady yard and bad soil so it takes tons of effort to have a garden. After 6 years of trying various methods, i give up. I hope others have a better experience than me!! If i had to eat from a garden i grew, i would starve!

Yes, we plant tomatoes, peppers, green beans, beets, radishes, corn, cucumbers, potatoes, watermelon, squash, snap peas, and flowers.  I live and breathe gardening in spring summer and fall.  Oh, I forgot asparagus.
