Do you wash the clothes before you donate them?

Yes.
They are usually in drawers or hanging up in closets, so they are clean.    Some I cut up into rags for personal home use cleaning.  :)

if they are in my drawers I don't always wash them because most places wash them before they put them for sale anyhow

No, they either are in drawers or closets in one of the bedrooms, so they are clean.  I think most places wash them anyway before they sell them.

If I can wash them before I donate them I do. But I don't if I know that they are going to be rags.

If they come out of my closet or dresser, then no, but if I had worn it recently, then I would wash it before donating.

Normally they are already clean. I don't have many clothing items anymore to donate so it's mostly going to be little knick-knacks this go around. A truck comes by once a month to pick up donated items, and there's donation bins all around here, too.  Feels good to give back!  :peace:

When I am in the sorting and donating mood, the clean clothes in my closet or drawers are boxed up for the next YMCA pickup.  Since the clothes are already clean, I do not re-wash before packing them up.

I volunteer at a small place where all clothes are given a way free or shipped to Dalles to be sent to other places, Yes we much prefer the clothes are clean as we have to handle them.  some people will just drop off clothes even if they are not clean. We do not have a washer and or dryer. so we depend upon people being nice and give them too us clean. If they are dirty we have to pitch them into the dumpster. We also give food out to those who are either on a very limited income or no income. And we  are only open on Tuesday and Thursdays and it can get really busy there. Of course some go down during the week to sort the clothes and stock the shelves.  A small town and very few volunteers.  But we enjoy it.

Do you wash the clothes before you donate them?

I do not take them out of the dirty clothes basket and donate them.  But if they are in the closet or from stored clothes in a box I do not wash them.  Most people who buy used clothes or even have clothes given to them wash them before they wear them.

When I donate, I wash first.  I also volunteer at a place that receives donations to disburse to others and we really appreciate clean clothing because we don't have access to a washer/dryer and depend on volunteers to take good clothing home to wash .

I usually don't; when I declutter they're already coming from the closet and not the dirty clothes hamper.

I donate clothes, but it depends on what kind of clothing you are referring to.  I would never donate dirty clothes.  All clothes are clean and for the most I probably wear them a couple of times.

Hello to everyone out there in Fusion Cash World:

No, I do not wash clothes that I donate or have donated only because they have been clean already when I have donated them!

It honestly depends on where I am donating them to. I call and ask if they wash them before hand, If they are already clean and are just pulled from the draws/ bins in the house, I just leave them that way.

I wouldn't think of donating dirty clothing.  I worked for Goodwill in a department that had nothing to do with the donations/retail and people have to sort and inspect the clothing.  Just as a courtesy to those people I would always make sure whatever I donate to any organization is clean.  However, you wouldn't believe what people donate occasionally.  Not just dirty clothing, but NASTY stuff.

Oh yes, I absolutely wash clothes before donating them. It seems too unsanitary and vulgar somehow not to do that first. I would want someone to donate clean clothes if I were accepting them, so I do the same.

I definitely wash the clothes before I donate them. In situations such as this, I always think about putting myself in the position of the person(s) receiving my donated clothing. I would prefer the person to do the same for me. Needless to say, I live wholeheartedly by the Golden Rule. :-)

Always! I never donate anything, clothes or otherwise..before donating it.  It's only right, I wouldn't want something dirty just because it's cheaper.
